Multi cam edit using sequendes not clips

$

I have a theater production project that was shot with a Sony HD cam and a GoPro. The GoPro recorded the entire production but in a series of clips approx 17 minutes long for each clip. I did a similar project last month and used the Sony clip (which was the entire one act play) and the first GoPro clip in the multi-cam setup very nicely.  When it came time to add the second GoPro clip, I could not figure out how to get it into the multi-cam mode in sync with the Sony clip.  So, stopped the multi-cam and just did a very time consuming edit process that worked but was tedious.  This time around, I am trying something different.  I made a sequence of the entire show from the GoPro clips and another sequence from the Sony clips (there were two Sony clips because it was a two act play and recording stopped for intermission).

I am now trying to use these sequences as the sources for a multi-cam edit but cannot get them to line up using the Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence window.  Tried using the audio but PPro could not match the audio.....so I laid down corresponding markers on the two sequences and tried to have PPro use those to sync with but the "Clip Marker" option is greyed out in the Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence.

If using sequences will not work, any thoughts about another approach will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan

Can't Record Premiere w/ NVENC Anymore (OBS)

$

Hi all,

I regularly make Premiere Pro tutorials, guides, and consultations for my work and rely on OBS Studio + the NVENC encoder to do so. This has worked flawlessly for me from at least ~2014 to earlier this year when one of the CC 2017 updates somehow just outright broke this possibility. (Other Nvenc-based plugins also stopped working around this time.)

Downgrading isn't really possible right now for a variety of reasons.

Any clue if this can be fixed or if there's a workaround? Previously I did everything on one graphics card - a GTX 1080. CUDA and Nvenc could exist side-by-side in harmony with no hiccups. Now, I've even bought a dedicated Quadro to run Nvenc in OBS and have used the Nvidia Control Panel to restrict any Adobe-related EXE I could find to only use the GTX 1080 for CUDA (since Premiere etc. doesn't give us the option to select GPU usage somehow) and that has not helped. I cannot set an outright global rule to only use the 1080 for CUDA since that just disables Nvenc on the Quadro outright, too.

I've tried everything I can think of, and it still doesn't work. I'm also not sure why the second GPU wouldn't be able to do it if it is a CUDA prioritization issue. The error logs in OBS result in the Nvenc engines just not being detected anymore - even within the same session as Nvenc encoding working 2 minutes prior.

20:14:51.847: error: OpenEncodeSessionEx failed: out of memory (10)

20:14:51.866: fatal: No NVENC capable devices found

20:14:51.866: [NVENC encoder: 'recording_h264'] Failed to open NVENC codec: Generic error in an external library

I also have an OBS forum thread here. But all I usually get is "well CUDA + Nvenc doesn't work now" - which isn't a good enough answer.

Specs:

  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • OBS Studio 64-bit 19.0.3
  • Nvidia GTX 1080 (latest stable drivers)
  • Nvidia Quadro P400
  • Adobe Premiere Pro/AE/AME CC 2017 (latest updates)
  • CPU: i7-6900K (no Quick Sync Video)
  • 32GB RAM

Any help, workarounds, notification of a fix inbound, etc. would be greatly appreciated - I'm tearing my hair out here.

Can't figure out how to export an HD video to YouTube

I have just recently started using Premier Pro.  I am putting together a video for YouTube using multiple separate short videos.  The imported videos are all HD, and when I finish editing the clips, I have used the native settings for exporting them.  I have chosen mpeg4 for the format.  Although I have played with the other settings, once I export the video, the playback resolution is low.  This is whether the video is played on my computer or published on YouTube.  I can't figure out why the clips are downgraded to SD.

Thanks

Multiple masks on one layer not working

I am on Premiere Pro CC 2017

I used to do this a while back on older Premier Pro, but I have one layer with mask 1, mask 2 and mask 3. invert one, is fine. invert another all maskes off. I have read set the mode next to invert but I believe that is AE only as there is none in PP. Is there a way to see the bottom layer with 3 masks on the top layer?

H.265/HEVC SUPER SLOW PLAYBACK???

I have a samsung nx1 and as a lot of you may know it records w/ the h.265 codec which I like since file sizes are a lot smaller. However, with my old computer I had so much trouble working wth the footage because it lags like hell. I don't get smooth and realtime playback when playing the footage in premiere pro or after effects, even when setting the playback quality to 1/8!! Because of this I spent $2000 on a new computer w/ 6800k 6 core, 32gb ddr4 ram, gtx 1070, and m.2 ssd. And I still have the problem. Please help me before I end up buying a $10,000 computer lol. This hardware should be capable of handling this easily. Also, I noticed that with my old computer whenever I factory reset it, it flies when editing 4k footage. But I don't want to have to factory reset my computer every couple weeks. Also, its not even adobe that i have problems with, I also have problems playing h.265 using my windows video player too.

urgent question: need to export open captions from premiere

i need to deliver a file for a client by tomorrow morning and am

unable to export a video file with burned in open captions. i see

the captions, did click the "burn captions into video", tried nesting

them as someone on the forum suggested, but all in vain. they do

not show up in the exported file.

someone here said he was in contact with support and they fixed

it by deleting some stuff in setting-files, but i really do not want to

do that by myself. so i tried to get into a chat with adobe, as i did

once half a year ago, but apparently that option is no longer available

or at least they found away to hide it very well. this really, really sucks.

this is supposed to be a professional product, but that is by no means

professional.

anyways. if anyone can help, i would highly appreciate. unfortunately

it is close to midnight here (europe) and i need to get this out in about

ten hours max.

Closed Captions - periods in between letters?

$

Hi,

I've only recently started creating closed caption in Premiere, I used to use a third party software.

It was much easier than Premiere, but I no longer have the option of using anything else.  So far it has been tedious in comparison to the other software, but workable.

Today though I started a new project and ended up with a caption file where the text appeared to have a period in between every character.

Does anyone know why that might be?

Ex: " T.e.x.t. . w.i.l.l. .a.p.p.e.a.r. . l.i.k.e. t.h.i.s.."

Thanks

Premiere Pro freezes when I press PLAY or space bar

$

I've been using Premiere Pro for a few months now, and while I've hit a few snags here and there learning the software itself, I've never had an issue like this...

As early as yesterday evening, I was working on a couple of different projects, experiencing nothing out of the ordinary. Today I load up a project, press space bar to begin a playback and nothing happens. I'm still able to navigate the other panels and the menus, but when I try to do anything in the playback window, it glitches itself, eventually freezes and is forced to close. If I try to load a different project while it's not playing, it also will freeze.

Initially this happened on a project that was a little over an hour long, but I also loaded a new project, placed a non-moving picture there for five seconds, tried to play it, and it did the same thing, so the length/size of the videos don't seem to be a factor. I've even attempted the universally accepted method of fixing things (turned my computer off and then back on) and that didn't work either. I could supposedly uninstall and reinstall premiere pro, but I'd only go through that hassle if it has a significantly better chance of working than pretty much any other suggestion I get otherwise.

Premiere CC Write-On Effect Freeze

$

I'm using the latest Premiere CC update on a Mac. with 3.1 GHz, 16 gig memory. The app works smoothly until I try to wield the "write-on" effect with a layer of text. Suddenly, Premiere slows down to an unbearable state. I can't work with the effect, and even to render it takes forever after attempting an extremely simple write-on drawing. I've tried a number of different frame resolutions, source file types, and on vs off an external drive. Nothing is getting me closer to a solution. Any advice is much appreciated!

Migrating FCP7 Project to Premiere - Some pointers

$

Hello Premiere Pro people,

I need to migrate my FCP7 project to Premiere.
I would like to have a consensus on what version of Premiere Pro CC is the most robust, and more hassle-free for long form, and especially when dealing with migrating a long-form documentary project.
What is your insight and experience on this?

When I did a test in early 2016 using Premiere CC 2014, people were reporting the issue of media redundancy in migrated projects, unless you checked the little box “Write XMP ID to files on import”.

Also, there was the issue that separate mono tracks were being imported as stereo, with you having to reassign them as mono before bringing them into a sequence.
Lastly, I can't remember well, but syncing audio to video was a pain in Premiere, unless you used Plural Eyes... but Plural Eyes wasn't that great for long sequences.

I hope there is a very stable Premiere Pro version that can handle a long form documentary with 12 TB.

In my case, I have one FCP7 project divided into 3 projects (for management/size reasons). I will combine all of them as one project in Premiere. I only have one 45 min. sequence (with no sound synced, just reference sound in most cases) + a trailer. I will use several scenes from this 45 min. sequence as the basis to build a rough cut. This 45 cut is sort of a loose assembly.

Also, what Mac OS is most stable with what Premiere Pro CC version?
I have Imac Retina Display 5K with Yosemite 10.5 as the operating system. So, the OSX may be a little old and I want to see what I can upgrade to, then commit to the migration.
(I was holding on Yosemite just because it has worked well with FCP7).

Thank you!

Transfer project from premiere pro to elementary

How do I transfer the video project from premiere pro to elementary without decreasing the quality/resolution of the project?

Premiere projects become laggier and laggier as time goes on...

My premiere project was working great - previewing in full resolution (Ultra HD), and I could edit well since I could play everything back.  Literally, after every day of editing, the footage becomes laggier. Now it is so slow that I actually can't even preview anything even at 1/4 resolution.

I monitor my PC's usage, so I'm fairly certain it's not RAM (32gb).

Is this something with the media cache files? Since I make sure to save a lot as I work? That's the only thing I think could have changed as time went on.  I have plenty of space on my computer's SSD, and I JUST built this computer, so I'm not quite sure what the problem is.  It could be something with the GPU - but again, the video preview was great at the start and slowly declined over a few days as I continued to edit..

Any help would be great, this is extremely frustrating. I think this could be an issue with premiere..

Thanks,

Claudia

My imported video into Adobe premier pro get corrupted

My imported video into Adobe premier pro get corrupted as the video frames gets overlayed each other(e.g) Frame 1 content is overlayed in Frame 1 to Frame 40 and so on every frames. The final exported video also gets presented same way as what i could see in the imported video when editing. When I open the recorded video used for importing directly it plays fine. Seeing this frame overlay issue only when importing the video to Adobe premier pro. Am i doing something wrong when importing and exporting video? Please clarify.

Video content is the recorded Mainframe black screen interface which has texts and lines.

Premiere Pro CC Footage mix-up

$

Hi,

This happened just now.

I have switched hard-drive since it was getting full. As expected when I started Premiere Pro, it asked me to re-locate all footage.
So, I did, everything went to rightful path. Four weeks later, which is today, when I opened the file, all of the paths have been mixed up.

Every footage has been linked to one specific video.

I do suspect some reason, one thing they do have common is that all of them have exactly same name. 0.mp4 .
But what I do not understand is that all of these videos were in seperate folder. Is this some sort of bugs?

Also, I do not know why but when I hit 'replace footage' Premiere Pro CC freeze.

Do I have to edit every thing from the beginning? Or is there an alternative ways?

Thank you,

Daniel Lee
