'Reveal in Project' Command not working from Timeline clips

$

Hi there, I just upgraded to the very latest 2018 update of Premiere Pro CC and I'm having two issues that I can't seem to solve.

The main issue is the following:

1) When right-clicking on a clip in the timeline, I click on the 'Reveal in Project' command but nothing happens. I'm using the standard workspace configuration

but the Reveal command seems to have no effect in the window.

Also:

2) With the update, when I make changes to the Workspace (selection) bar at the top, the choices don't seem to carry over to the next time the project is opened.

(All of the Workspace titles reappear in their initial default positions even though I have moved some to the 'Overflow' or 'Do Not Show' positions).

Thanks very much for any help!

John

Can't Rename Bins

When I go to rename a bin, I can't see the text or cursor, and when I hit "return" Premiere crashes. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a fix?

After the latest update, when I select a transition that has been added to a clip, it doesn't show the effect contols options anymore.
What could be the possible fix here?

H.264 Format Exporting Only Blackness

My exports are resulting in a black video with no audio. I received an mp4 of a webinar. It's only slides and audio. All I did was clip the beginning and end. I'm using the same export settings that worked just fine before. I've tried reverting to older versions of premiere, and that didn't work. I use H.264 with the Match Source Adaptive Medium Bitrate preset so that I can keep that file size down. I've included a screenshot below. Everything looks and plays back just fine in premiere before exporting. I also tried to bring the resulting black video back into Premiere to see what it looks like, but I get an error message saying "this file has an unsupported compression type." The MPEG format works, but it's a huge file that isn't practical for its purpose.

Why Random Glitches During Playback?

Glitch_Sample.00_00_00_08.Still001.jpg

Frame above shows random White Line glitch left of man's ear (1 frame length) during playback.

Glitch does not show up when same clip is exported as H264.

They are never in the same place twice and occur at various places in the frame.

The happen at random time intervals.

Thanks for any help.

Laser Show Documentation - how to avoid frame cuts

Hi there I'm a laser artist, and often need to record a video for customers. The problem is the analog to digital conversion.

Lasers have a continuous line that get chopped in the video breaking the beauty of the laser drawing itself. Is there a way to avoid this?

I have for example a gopro that has 60fps maybe I could try integrating two or more frames into one and have a continuous line.

Export bitrate settings don't match results

I have footage that comes in around 100 mbps out of an a7iii. When I export a sequence out of premiere h.264 using high-quality preset for ultra uhd, the bitrate states 80 mb/s.

After render it out I check it and it's around 15 mb/s.

Why?

Easiest way to add over 50 layers without clogging up timeline?

Im working on an office holiday video. Concept is asking staff if they prefer a real or fake xmas tree. I have a counter on one side of the screen that adds an animation of a tree blossoming under the "real" or "fake" column once the staff person gives his/her answer. At the end of the video, I will tally up the trees to see who "wins".

the project will feature roughly 60 staff members saying "real" or "fake" one after the other.

My question... how can I add these 60+ animated trees without having 60+ layers of video?

other notes, the animated tree is a video file that lasts roughly 2 seconds. but since the counter is running, I will need it to remain on screen once it pops up, which is waaaaay longer than 2 seconds. (hope that made sense)

any ideas?

thanks

Captions not visible

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to put some subtitles on my video with the captions tool.

When I put my caption on my sequence, I can type my text but nothing appear on my footage...

I tried with every setiings but nothing change.

I watched a video to learn how to use captions and I realise that there is not the ''open captions'' setting available on my version of Premiere (Premiere Pro CC 9.0.0). Is the problem is coming from here?

Thanks for answers.

(0xc0000005) startup error. How do I fix this?

I just ran the most recent updates on my CC account and now when I try and open Premiere or After Effects I get this error message, "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

Adobe Error.JPG

I can open all the other Adobe applications that I have loaded on my computer except the two I need most. I have a really important project due Friday but my troubleshooting (Adobe Cleanup Tool, uninstalling/reinstalling) have not fixed the problem.

What do I do?

Can I revert back to the previous version somehow? If I can, I cannot figure out how to do that.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

Premiere Pro CC 2019 13.0.2 search / find / bin filter issues

$

After the update to Premiere Pro CC 13.0.2 (on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.13.6) I started having issues with the project panel bin filter search not showing clips that I knew were in the project - I'd search for a word in the name of a clip and no clips would show up. I tried using the Cmd-F tool instead, and Premiere would either find nothing or stall out and rainbow wheel. Creating a search bin also failed to work properly - I'd create one to search for a word that was in the name or description of dozens of clips, and the search bin would remain empty.

I tried multiple solutions discussed in this thread about CC 2018: Premiere Pro CC 2018 Doesn't seem to be able to search the Project Panel . I trashed preferences, deleted the media cache and database, uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and tried the lock project trick. I still saw the same behavior. Tried starting a brand new project containing only 4 clips. In one case, 2 of these clips contained the same word in the name; searching on that word in the project panel filter would locate only one. In another case searching for a different word in the name of one of the clips revealed nothing.

For the time being I've reverted to version 13.0.1; I'm having no issues with search in that version of the software. I should be able to continue with that for now, but thanks for any advice on getting search to work in the latest update.

Sony files shifted in the timeline!

$

Hi I hope someone can assist me with this issue. I am reviewing my editors work and each time I get a project which has been captured by Sony the edited file in the timeline is shifted around 3 - 4 second later. We work with a few cameras. We generally work with Canon, Panasonic and Sony. Only recently the Sony files has been doing this. It appears to have that zebra lines on the timeline which basically means there's not footage at that particular point.

I work with around 3 hours worth of footage including multicam sequences so it's a real headache.

When i open my project on my MacBook pro I5 8gb late 2015, model it doesn't have this issue. it's only my main iMac computer (I7 32gb late 2014) which has this problem. I have updated my software and still no joy.

This issue occurs when i open any of my editors who has a Sony file in their project. Editing Sony files on my computer isn't a problem.

Please see stills below for reference. It also has nothing to do with the transitions used, just video been shifted.

I would appreciate it if anyone can help as soon as possible please.

Thanks

Can't open a finished project in timeline

Hi!

I'm not able to see a finished project in the timeline but I'm seeing it on the left panel. I use to open two or three projects at the same time.

I did my best but now I have to ask for somebody's help!

Thank you very much!

Why does Pr have such a hard time playing Long-GOP?

$

This problem has gone back several versions.  Pr works fine with intraframe and MPEG-2 footage, but drops frames like crazy or won't even play 4K AVCHD, DJI, and other Long-GOP footage WITHOUT ANY EFFECTS OR SCALING applied, even at 1/4 or 1/8 resolution that plays smoothly in VLC and QT player outside of Premiere.

And this is intermittent.  Some times it plays, some times it doesn't.  When it doesn't, quitting and relaunching helps for a while, but it inevitably stops playing again.

I've been deleting my prefs several times a day, which also helps briefly, but that may be because quitting and relaunching is required to do that.

I have to render most of this type of footage to get it to play reliably.  Time killer.

I'm not maxing out my 2GB/s RAID, 6-core (12 thread) 3.06 GHz CPU or Titan GPU and 128GB RAM.  Not even close.  I have iStat Menus installed, and can monitor my system resources in real-time by looking at my menu bar.

This certainly suggests the problem is in the way Pr is built.  But, if I'm wrong and there's a fix for this, I'd be grateful to learn how.

System described above is on a MacPro5,1 running 10.13.6 with latest GPU and CUDA drivers installed.

Should I convert mp4 before editing in Premiere CC?

I am editing mp4 video files recorded from my Playstation 4. They are mp4, avc coding. When I import them into the timeline, the bar is red so I have to render just to play back. Is this typical? Doesn't seem like an efficient workflow. Or should I convert them to an uncompressed type of file beforehand?

no capable video play modules?

I have seen through search that this issue has come up before, but today I did the update (13.0.2) to Premier Pro and that dialog came up. After the search on this forum and Google, and after trying everything suggested, I finally just reverted to the last install and all was well. I will wait until I see another update before trying again and Auto Update is off for this app.

No changes to my system (Windows 10 64 bit, Asus MB, i7-7700K CPU, 16 ram, AMD Radeon RX 460). Glad there was another system handy that had not been updated. Curious about others experiencing this issue again. Many of the suggested cures refer to past Windows and AMD drivers and processes, so hard to know if current choices are valid options or if new things must be tried. I did uninstall and reinstall to Premier Pro also to no avail. Only reversion seems to work. No bug fixes for this system, only bugs.

Proxies Made in Premiere Pro CC 2018 Aren't Connecting Properly

$

I work with a proxy workflow regularly and generally have no issue. Yesterday, I upgraded to CC 2018. I ingested media into my project, organized it, spot logged it and then created proxies overnight by right clicking the media > proxy > create proxies > Format: Quicktime > Preset: 1280x720 Apple Pro Res 422 (Proxy). I set the destination to a proxy folder on the media drive.

This morning I noticed that the proxies did not attach themselves so I manually attached them by right clicking the clip > proxy > attach proxies and navigated to the folder I had created. Premiere indicated that all the proxies attached via the metadata display. However, playback on the footage was just as laggy as when the footage was in it's native format (footage was shot with a Sony FS7 and is .MXF). I troubleshooted for a few hours and tried I restarting Premiere, restarting my computer, transferring the media and proxies to a different drive, reconnecting the media and the proxies manually. Each time Premiere says the proxies are attached, but, no matter what I do the proxies do not actually attach. When I "reveal the clip in finder" it takes me to the original media.

I inherited this project from another editor who used the same workflow. When I reveal in finder the media that was already in the project, which Premiere says has attached proxies, the media is revealed in the proper proxy folder and plays back in Premiere without issue.

Is anyone else having trouble with proxies being read incorrectly by Premiere? Is the solution to remake the proxies (I hope not).

I am running a mid 2015 15" Macbook Pro - OS 10.12.6 and CC 2018

All suggestions and insights are welcome.
