Create Proxies not populating in Media Encoder (h.265 source media)

I'm attempting to create proxies by right clicking files in the project window. After doing so, Media Encoder opens, but the renders don't populate. I've tried several proxy file types and tried opening Media Encoder before attempting to send files from Premiere.

Please help, h.265 files are a beast!

Premiere Pro CC 2019 and Media Encoder crashing when selecting H.264 encoding format

Hello,

I am trying to export a project with H.264 export format but as soon as I select this format in the export settings window, I get the spinning wheel for a few seconds, and then Premiere Pro is crashing completely. It does not even say that the application is not responding or proposing to submit a bug report, the application window is just disappearing. If I try to export to a different format, the export can be done without any error (I successfully exported my project with "H.264 Blu-Ray" format).

I get exactly the same problem when I send the projet to Adobe Media Encoder and try to change the export settings to H.264 in Media Encoder (AME is crashing as soon as I select H.264 export format).

I am using the latest versions of each software (Premiere Pro CC 2019 v13.0, Media Encoder CC 2019 v13.0.2 Build39).

The project I am trying to export is a sequence 2704x1520 pixels 29,97fps based on GoPro Hero 5 Black footage 2704x1520 pixels 59,94fps.

My PC :

Windows 10 Pro v1809 FR

Intel i7-3770K

RAM : 32 GB

EVGA GeForce GTX 670 (driver v417,35)

All my drivers are up to date.

I tried to delete all cache files, uninstall all adobe applications (deleting all preferences), then ran the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe, then reinstalled everything (restarting the computer between each step of this process) : same result...

I tried to create a new project and import my project in the new one, but I get the same problem when I try to export.

In the project settings, I tried to switch the rendering system to "Mercury software playback engine only" : still the same problem.

Any help would be more than welcome !

Premiere playback stutter/audio skipping out of sync

$

I've been in premiere pro almost everyday for at least the past 5 years. I've been running into this issue since probably CC9.2. The issue is intermittent, so I've never been able to get a solid answer or solution.

Basically, every once in a while, playback will start to skip/stutter, causing the audio to drift out of sync. When you hit play/pause, it will reset the sync, but so long as the issue persists, you will continue to get stuttering playback/audio and drifting audio. Usually, restarting the program fixes the issue temporarily, but this gets old when it comes back every 10 mins. Sometimes it even fixes itself for a couple minutes and playback continues as normal, but usually it returns shortly thereafter.

It is NOT related to:

-audio rate (this is not a sync issue, it is a software performance issue. Everything is fine until the program starts to chug).

-Lack of hardware performance (I've run into this issue on multiple systems and platforms over the years. MacPro, hackintosh, PC, etc.)

-Storage (I've run into the issue using both direct attached storage and network storage, operating at read/write speeds that are far more than enough for the media).

-File type/size (I've run into the issue with multiple file types such as R3D, DNX, H264,mp4, ProRes, though I mostly work in an offline format using ProRes).

What I think it may be related to:

If I recall correctly, most of the times I've run into the issue have been when using an external reference monitor through a converter.

I've used:

Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4k

Express 4k

Mini Monitor

PCIe SDI card

Sometimes, if I turn off the mercury streaming engine after restarting the program, I don't end up running into the problem again.

Please do not suggest simply turning off the mercury streaming engine as that is not a fix, it is a workaround that renders all our reference displays useless.

I've been looking for answers to this for years and haven't had any luck. It hasn't been a permanent issue, so I've never taken the time to figure it out. Now that I'm running into the issue on another project once again, I thought that this was the last straw.

If anyone has any ideas, they would be much appreciated by me and others I know have experienced the issue as well.

Thanks

So how it started I was making a new video for youtube and then I think i clicked off and went back on there it started being strange. It began to not work properly meaning it was hard for me to edit the video. The problems included the Blue bar int he editing not working untill I pressed play and Didn't show what Item I had was equiped which made it harder for me to use it, and I think lastly it didn't delete parts of a project when I wanted it to and it would show that after I moved a part of a clip.

And after a while it was finished and I tried to upload it and when I clicked the button to enable the upload to Youtube and It wouldn't let me enable it. Please help!

How to edit a video's sound if it's mono?

$

So I'm new to Premiere Pro but I'm trying to edit this video that I took with my iPhone.

In the video, I'm giving a speech in class, but some part of my speech is muffled because the music I had playing while giving the speech was too loud.

The music is part of the original video, not something I added in.

I wanted to lower the background noises such as the music and the sound of doors opening & closing in class, and amplify my own voice.

I saw some tutorials on noise reduction and stuff but that doesn't work for me since I took the video with my phone, hence one mic and one sound channel.

If it was stereo, i know how to fix it, but my audio is mono. Hope that makes sense.

Is there any way to edit such a video or is this a helpless case?

Thanks.

Premiere Pro Opens but sits with a spinning wheel

Here is my issue,

I open up premiere pro and it opens to the screen where you would normally select or create a new project however it just sits there with a spinning wheel.  Below is what I have tried to do to fix it.  All other Adobe apps work.

Uninstalled/re-installed Pr Pro without uninstalling preferences.

Uninstalled/re-installed Pr Pro with uninstalling preferences.

Signing out of Adobe Creative Cloud and logging back in.

Signed out Adobe Creative Cloud and renaming the SL Cache and SL Store folders to (old).  This was a recommendation from the forum.

Note:  If I open a project timeline by double-clicking on it Pr Pro will open and I work on that timeline however the timeline playback is really jittery.

Operating system is iMac running Mojave.

CC 2017: An unknown error occurred while opening the project.

A couple days ago I spent all day editing a project. It's about 10 minutes long and consists of all iPhone videos - various frame rates and resolutions. It came out great and I closed the project for the night. The next day I came back and tried to open the project and after the loading bar completes, I get the error: An unknown error has occurred while opening the project. Other projects open normally. New projects open normally. But this one does not. I am so upset and frustrated about the lost work.

I went to my recent auto saves and they give me the same error. If I go way back in the auto saves, they will open normally but that was before many hours of additional work on the edit.

I made a new project and tried to import the old project and I get the error: The importer reported a generic error.

I used Media Browser to view the project and the window where I should see everything is blank, even after the loading bar finishes.

I used Project Repair from Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools which thinks it has repaired the project, but I get the same error when trying to open it.

I used CS Repair from Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools to trash Premiere preferences. No help either.

I googled the error message endlessly and although the same question has been asked, none of them got an answer.

Please advise.

2019 Update Extremely Slow and Unusable

$

0

I just upgraded to 2019 (13.0.1) from 2018 (12.1.2) on 11/2. I have opened and converted two projects in progress in 2019. In both projects, all parts of the editing process have become nearly impossible when working in 2019 vs when I was working on them in 2018.

The projects are 1920x1080 23.97 using ProRes 422 footage files of the same size and FR—not proxies. There are also dynamically linked After Effects comps. In several places, those comps are layered on top of the footage and each other and sometimes use the multiply and screen blend modes. I am also using the morph cut and cross dissolve effects on the footage and the tint effect on some of the AE comps.

Before, I could scrub and play through the footage without an issue in real time. At worse, when I had several CC apps opened the footage would drop to 1/2 res. Un-rendered motion graphics would playback with dropped frames but once rendered played back in real time. Rendering was fast and exporting both from within Premiere and with AME was also fast. The one project had a TRT of 6:27 and rendered from AME in about 8-10 minutes.

Now, in 2019, I cannot scrub through the footage at all, even with it forced to 1/4 res. It takes several seconds for the current frame under the playhead to display whenever the position of it is changed.

I cannot play the project back smoothly. When I hit the spacebar to play portions of the project that are footage only (no MoG), Premiere will play a couple seconds but there are tons of dropped frames and it will only play so much before the video stops and only audio plays. At that point, it will often grind to a complete halt after a few more seconds. I cannot playback un-rendered motion graphics at all—it won't even attempt it! Even rendered sections playback in the same choppy manner as the parts that are strictly footage.

Rendering within Premiere and in the new version of AME have also become unbearably long. Hitting return to render the project used to take minutes for several hundred frames of MoG and now I have no idea how long it takes because I let it sit for an hour and it had complete 30-some frames. The project I mentioned before that rendered from AME in about 8-10 minutes took that long just to get to 1% and at that point, the estimated time to finish calculator climbed until it read over 9 hours. I let it go for another half hour until it had reached 2% and canceled the render. Just opening the project in AME and changing the render settings takes 2-3 times as long now.

The dynamically linked After Effects comps are also problematic. If I make a change in AE, the change used to show up nearly instantaneously in 2018. Now, it takes several minutes or it will just show the media pending placeholder. Changing editable text fields for AE comps from within PR also used to be instantaneous but now takes upwards of a minute to show in the program monitor once I commit the change.

Double-clicking in the project pane and opening the After Effects file to import a comp also takes forever. First, it takes several minutes to populate the top-level folders of the AE project in the import window. Then, it takes several more minutes to populate the comps when I drill down into one of the folders. This process used to happen immediately in 2018.

I am having similar performance issues in After Effects including rendering both inside AE and in AME so although I tried exporting my comps as footage clips the renders were taking so long I canceled them.

I have tried using all three rendering engines (software, Metal and OpenCL) for both AME and in Premiere's project settings as well as restarting, clearing caches and deleting preview files. Nothing changes.

I am working on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018):

macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (I am unable to upgrade to Mojave due to our IT dept and enterprise security apps)

2.9 GHz i9

32 GB memory

4 GB Radeon Pro 560X

1 TB SSD (OS and apps)

1 TB Samsung T5 external SSD directly connected without adapters (project files)

This thing is a monster and so far has handled everything I can throw at it...until now. So, I don't think it is the computer at all. I am up against deadlines and lost a lot of time screwing about with 2019. Luckily, I hadn't made any significant time-consuming changes and rolled back to 2018 and finished the projects there.

I know there are several existing threads about similar performance and stability issues but this seems to be a wide-spread issue that isn't getting enough attention from Adobe. I am going to keep using 2018 and hopefully, anyone who sees this post or any of the other threads thinks twice about upgrading or at least leaves the 2018 apps installed and doesn't test out 2019 with any critical projects! Don't be an overly-excited early adopter like me!

P.S. I haven't had any of these issues with Lightroom Classic, PS, AI or AU. Only PR, AE and AME. Granted, I spend the vast majority of my time in the video apps and only use the other apps for quick tasks to support the editing process and I haven't any large batches of raw files in LR since upgrading.

2018 File Save Bug!!!!

Both me and my boyfriend have encountered this bug on two completely different computers.

Originally we thought it was just a problem with his computer because I wasn't experiencing any issues and he had only just bought a subscription, but after I updated to 2018 I encountered the same thing!

Whenever I go to save, premier closes out my project and then deletes my time line but anything I imported is still in the file. This is a huge and unacceptable bug that I have no idea how to fix? I have lost hours of work over this and it makes premier almost impossible to use. It exports fine and everything else seems to work fine so whats going on?

I also have noticed after adding one clip to my time line any other clip I add after wont have any sound even though it has sound in my media menu.

I have a 2 year old window 10 pc, my boyfriend works on a year old window 10 pc. I never had any issues like this in 2017, I only updates this past week.

If your still on 2017 dont update!!!

Video colours look different in Premier

$

Hi there,

Colours look different in Premiere than they do in Cinema (Rec. 709), Quicktime, YouTube and Vimeo. In VLC they look similar to how they look in Premiere, but that is a pure misrepresentation. I tested my films in Rec. 709 cinema screens, through the course of many years, and they always match Quicktime, but never Premiere.

I googled a lot to find a definitive answer for this, and unfortunately I am forced to post my question here as Adobe doesn't allow me to chat or talk with a technician.

My question (if anybody is able to answer it) is: is there any way to set a different colour profile the video preview in Premiere? I simply can't find a way to do this, and I can't use an external calibrated display all the time, as I mostly work while travelling, if I don't have one of my collaborators to handle the grading for me.

Please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

All the best

MXF video "disappearing" from Premiere - only show as black.

$

I have some MXF video clips shot on my Sony PMW-F5 (Raw from the AXS-R5 recorder) that are "disappearing" from Premiere. They still work in Sony Catalyst and Sony RAW Viewer but when loaded into Premiere the image is just black. The audio still plays, but the image is missing. It's only happened to seven clips so far (out of hundreds) but they're ones that are currently used in the edit sequence (as opposed to being on the proverbial cutting room floor).

I've tried replacing the file with the originals from the backup drive and exporting new ones using Sony Catalyst, but, the only thing that's worked so far is to transcode the footage. Unfortunately Catalyst & RAW Viewer only transcode to inferior formats/codecs. And, of course, I've tried removing any filters or other "alterations" that may have been an issue. Even tried reloading into new projects in Premiere but still have the same issue.

I've never had this problem before in all my years using MXF files from this camera system with Premiere so am at a loss for why this is happening. The only thing I can think of is this is the first project I've done with this volume of footage (26 TB of footage total) and all the files that have "disappeared" are from one drive. The drive is not having any issues, and like I said above, I've tried reloading the footage from separate backup drives to no avail.

Thanks so much for your help with this and if there's any more info I can provide that would be helpful let me know. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I want to use video editor plugin in web

My web service should have video editing. However, there are many problems with video editing. So I want to use Adobe's video editing function on the web. Is there a video editing plug-in or api or sdk available on the web?

If not provided by Adobe, I would appreciate it if you could recommend a typical web video editing api or sdk plug-in for my web service.

Premiere blew my macbook pro speakers

I have a new 2 month old 15" MBP. I Was working on a project, macbook volume was about on half, when suddenly an audio bug occurred with really loud screatching noise and not letting me pause it. After it stopped, the speakers were really quiet, and after the next restart they're clearly blown. Initially I blamed the hardware, though the same thing happened a day later with my Sony 1000X-M3 headphones, luckily the headphones are ok, but that did give me a heart attack.

The situation is not ok, I am not happy. Adobe customer care chat is ridiculous.

CUDA Missing on Mac Premiere CC 2019

$

Hi There,

I'm unable to get my Nvidia GTX 780M CUDA driver to appear in any of the Adobe CC 2019 products.

I'm posting here after spending many many hours with Apple, Nvidia, and Adobe tech support. They all blame each other for this problem and it's beyond frustrating. I'm hoping some more competent Adobe users can provide some insight .

I'm running a 27" Late 2013 iMac. 32GB memory. Nvidia Geforce GTX 780M.

Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.6

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling different versions of both the Nvidia WEB and CUDA drivers. We can't seem to find any combination that results in CUDA showing up in Premiere Pro, AE, Media Encoder. All I have are OpenCL and Metal.

If I run the CUDA-Z App. It shows the driver is installed, working, and running. However, All of the Adobe CC 2019 apps don't see it .

Currently have CUDA 8.0.90 and Nvidia Web Driver 378.05.05.25f12 installed.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Problem with Search Panel not displaying correct results

$

0

When I type a query into the search field, Adobe Premiere Pro cc 2018 now displays results found in Windows 10 File Explorer, not results found in the clip names of Premiere Pro.

For example: I want to find clips of shot 84, so I type "84" into the search field. But this is what comes up:

Searh_Pane_84_cropped_screenshot.png

Obviously, shot 25B is not what I'm looking for. But you will see an "84" in the description, because the search panel is displaying the File Explorer results for a clip with "84" in the original file name, specifically "MVI_2684.MOV":

Search_84_Screenshot_02.png

However, searching with the <CTRL><F> find feature brings up the correct results (i.e., the results with "84" in the Premiere Pro clip name):

Search_84_Screenshot_03_cropped.png

Why is this happening? I've never had this problem before. How do I change the search panel options back to display results of Premiere Pro clip names instead of Windows File Explorer names?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone Else Getting No Audio Playback After Opening A Project?

For the past week or so, I've had a strange issue where sometimes when I open a project and try to play the timeline, there's no audio. It happens for every sequence in the project. It's not that the audio is playing and I'm just not hearing it, the audio levels don't even move. It's as if all audio has been muted. The only thing that brings it back is to solo one of the audio tracks and then unsolo it. After that everything starts working again.

Applying morph cut transition, getting an error

I am applying a morph cut transition and I got the error "failure, can't apply accross a single clip" after I rendered the finished clip. It flashes across the scene twice, then the rest of the clip runs. The sequence is synced, but there is a noise that wasn't in the original production clip.  One scene has a ventilation system running in the background, so there is a machine hum, but there's now a third unexpected noise. any ideas?
