Premiere Pro - Lumetri bug!!!

$

0

I'm working on a new iMac Pro, 64gb ram.

The project is a 38 min documentary, all colored in Lumetri. The problem is, within the Program Monitor, AND even after export, some of the clips look the way I colored them, and others have a faded look – as if I had added the "faded film" effect to it, even though I didn't. Even more weirdly, it the image in the Program Monitor flickers off and on (faded to normal) even WHILE I'M EDITING.

I've tried lots of things. Uninstalling/reinstalling Premiere, trashing preferences, manually deleting all cache files for project, deleting all preview files. Starting a brand new project file and copying over only that sequence. I even duplicated my main sequence (38 min cut), deleted ALL Lumetri effects, and started from scratch coloring a few of the clips, and it started doing it again (faded flickering even while I'm making the adjustments in Lumetri), and then ultimately, it looks like crap after export. But some clips looks great!

All the footage I'm working with is from Canon C200 (compressed, h.264 mp4 files, which Premiere really doesn't like). That said, I've finished 8 other projects this last month alone with new problems like this particular one. Another important note is that I have proxy files attached (created within premiere), and the proxies naturally seem to look a bit flatter than the originals, so at first I think maybe Premiere was being confused and switching because the proxies and original even without me toggling the proxy button. But I don't think it's that.

Any suggestions are welcome! It's really important that I export a clean cut of this where all the color looks accurate, and I'm afraid this is a bug issue that I won't have any control over.

2018 File Save Bug!!!!

Both me and my boyfriend have encountered this bug on two completely different computers.

Originally we thought it was just a problem with his computer because I wasn't experiencing any issues and he had only just bought a subscription, but after I updated to 2018 I encountered the same thing!

Whenever I go to save, premier closes out my project and then deletes my time line but anything I imported is still in the file. This is a huge and unacceptable bug that I have no idea how to fix? I have lost hours of work over this and it makes premier almost impossible to use. It exports fine and everything else seems to work fine so whats going on?

I also have noticed after adding one clip to my time line any other clip I add after wont have any sound even though it has sound in my media menu.

I have a 2 year old window 10 pc, my boyfriend works on a year old window 10 pc. I never had any issues like this in 2017, I only updates this past week.

If your still on 2017 dont update!!!

Using FX/transitions from After Effects

Hello all,

Is there a way to use the fx and transitions from after effects in a Premiere timeline? I saw a video of a guy who created a way, but wanted to be paid for the download of files. I am still on Premiere Pro 2017. Thanks.

Premiere Pro max bit depth

I am running into an issue with Premiere Pro's maximum bit depth. From researching, I just discovered that Premieres maximum export depth is 10bit.

If that is correct it means I can't use Premiere for a portion of a project that I am working on. I have these depth map files that were recorded as 24bit PNG sequences. Exporting from Premiere, even with the maximize bit depth option in the export dialogue, results in the footage being truncated to 10bit sequences. This creates horrible stair-stepping in the image from being quantized to a smaller bit depth.

Is 10 bits really a maximum render setting? If it is then I'll have to redo this part of the project in After Effects or a competing video editing product.

Rotate in source panel?

The video was shot upside down so now I want to preview it in

the source panel, but I dont see how to rotate it there.

Must I put it in the timeline, rotate it, save it all over again

as a new file, import, and THEN view it in source?

Thanks anyone

Why do I have to import an AE comp twice in to PP?

Every time I attempt to import an After Effects comp into Premiere Pro, I have to make 2 attempts.

Process:

     File>Import

     Find the AE project file

Find the comp within the AE project file

     Highlight (or double-click, doesn't matter)

     Click - "OK"

First time it just sits there. Same import screen, like something is very wrong.

Then I have to dig into the AE project file, find the comp I want again, Highlight it  and click OK.

This has been going on for a couple months.  I have done some internet searches.  Not sure what keywords might get this to be answered.  All to no avail.

Is anyone having this issue?  Is this a dynamic link thing?

Would love if Adobe would weigh in on this one.

Oh, and previously, no issues importing.

Thanks

Extra frames when moving clips around

Hi,

I have been having this problem for while now that came after a few updated versions ago. When I have a timeline full of clips and I decide I want to move one clip to a new spot or switch it out for another clip, the other clip that is after it will have a few frames from the clip that was previously next to it at the beginning so I have to go in and trim a few frames off of each clip that is next to one that I moved and it is really starting to frustrate me as I can not figure out what the problem is. Anyone else have this problem?

Let me know if I did not explain well. It is a bit hard to explain.

Thank you!

Premiere Pro Upgrade

I have been using Premiere Pro CC 2017. I want to upgrade to the new 2019 CC version, but when I open up the CC desktop app, it only gives me the options of a free trial and a purchase. When I click the link to buy, it takes me to the page to choose a CC plan, which I already have. Any way around this? I am running on macOS Mojave.

Help!! Premiere Pro CC is changing the color of my imported footage

$

When I import my footage into Premiere, it seems contrast is being added to it. What was properly exposed footage looks like it has crushed blacks and blown out whites. I have not added any effects and there are no master clip effects added. When the footage is in a sequence, I can create an After Effects Composition, and the color returns to normal. I am looking for a solution inside Premiere so I don't have to create AEcomps for every clip. It affects both .mov and .mp4 files.

Update:

I have tried the same video on an iMacbook Pro computer with updated Premiere and AE. There was no issue with the colors. This problem might be specific to Premiere on iMac Pro systems.

I also created a GIF to better demonstrate the difference between footage in Premiere and the same footage routed through After Effects.

After Effects displays the colors correctly. Premiere doesn't. Why is this so?

Media Pending Forever

$

I recently updated to the 2018 version of Premiere Pro and initially I had no problems.  However, starting yesterday, when I went to open the file I had been working on, I get the 'media pending' message for every single clip.  I've given it as long as 40 minutes to load, restarted several times, unplugged and replugged in the hard drive where the media and project file are stored, and restarted my computer (I'm running Mac OS X).

I've tried disabling and re-enabling clips with no result.  My boss suggested I clear the media cache but I can't seem to find it.  According to Premiere itself, it should be located in a folder that I can't find and doesn't appear to exist.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Problem with Search Panel not displaying correct results

$

0

When I type a query into the search field, Adobe Premiere Pro cc 2018 now displays results found in Windows 10 File Explorer, not results found in the clip names of Premiere Pro.

For example: I want to find clips of shot 84, so I type "84" into the search field. But this is what comes up:

Searh_Pane_84_cropped_screenshot.png

Obviously, shot 25B is not what I'm looking for. But you will see an "84" in the description, because the search panel is displaying the File Explorer results for a clip with "84" in the original file name, specifically "MVI_2684.MOV":

Search_84_Screenshot_02.png

However, searching with the <CTRL><F> find feature brings up the correct results (i.e., the results with "84" in the Premiere Pro clip name):

Search_84_Screenshot_03_cropped.png

Why is this happening? I've never had this problem before. How do I change the search panel options back to display results of Premiere Pro clip names instead of Windows File Explorer names?

Thanks in advance!

How to apply a Bokeh/Defocus effect IN PREMIERE PRO?

$

Hello,

I would like to apply a bokeh blur to footage in premiere. I am aware that after effects has this option (called lens blur, I think), but I need it to be key-framable in premiere. (I don't want to go back and forth between the two programs every time I want to change the keyframes.)

I recently switched from Vegas Pro, which has a "defocus" effect that creates this effect excellently. I used it on the background at 1:00 on this video for excellent effect.

I tried to use the camera blur effect, and while it's okay it does not have the intense bokeh that was present with the Vegas defocus effect.

Is there a built in effect I can use, or some free premiere pluggin?

Proxy files are created but no actual video just sound...need help

recently started taking my editing a bit more seriously and discovered the proxy facility which i think is fantastic. However i have followed many tutorials on the internet, changed the settings god knows how many times but every time, it will create the proxy in the relevant folder but there would be no video.

Thought i was doing something wrong but ive tried it so many different ways im unsure where im going wrong. the only problem i see is when media encoder has rendered the file, i reset status. When i click custom the Ingest settings come up. Under Summary and Source it says "No video". I have no idea how to fix this? can someone please help me?

I have tried to export a sequence using media encoder and that works fine, its just for some reason not playing ball when it comes to proxies.

Currently using PP 2018 and AME 2018

Thanks in advance.

When I go to rename a bin, I can't see the text or cursor, and when I hit "return" Premiere crashes. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a fix?

2019 Update Extremely Slow and Unusable

$
0
0

I just upgraded to 2019 (13.0.1) from 2018 (12.1.2) on 11/2. I have opened and converted two projects in progress in 2019. In both projects, all parts of the editing process have become nearly impossible when working in 2019 vs when I was working on them in 2018.

The projects are 1920x1080 23.97 using ProRes 422 footage files of the same size and FR—not proxies. There are also dynamically linked After Effects comps. In several places, those comps are layered on top of the footage and each other and sometimes use the multiply and screen blend modes. I am also using the morph cut and cross dissolve effects on the footage and the tint effect on some of the AE comps.

Before, I could scrub and play through the footage without an issue in real time. At worse, when I had several CC apps opened the footage would drop to 1/2 res. Un-rendered motion graphics would playback with dropped frames but once rendered played back in real time. Rendering was fast and exporting both from within Premiere and with AME was also fast. The one project had a TRT of 6:27 and rendered from AME in about 8-10 minutes.

Now, in 2019, I cannot scrub through the footage at all, even with it forced to 1/4 res. It takes several seconds for the current frame under the playhead to display whenever the position of it is changed.

I cannot play the project back smoothly. When I hit the spacebar to play portions of the project that are footage only (no MoG), Premiere will play a couple seconds but there are tons of dropped frames and it will only play so much before the video stops and only audio plays. At that point, it will often grind to a complete halt after a few more seconds. I cannot playback un-rendered motion graphics at all—it won't even attempt it! Even rendered sections playback in the same choppy manner as the parts that are strictly footage.

Rendering within Premiere and in the new version of AME have also become unbearably long. Hitting return to render the project used to take minutes for several hundred frames of MoG and now I have no idea how long it takes because I let it sit for an hour and it had complete 30-some frames. The project I mentioned before that rendered from AME in about 8-10 minutes took that long just to get to 1% and at that point, the estimated time to finish calculator climbed until it read over 9 hours. I let it go for another half hour until it had reached 2% and canceled the render. Just opening the project in AME and changing the render settings takes 2-3 times as long now.

The dynamically linked After Effects comps are also problematic. If I make a change in AE, the change used to show up nearly instantaneously in 2018. Now, it takes several minutes or it will just show the media pending placeholder. Changing editable text fields for AE comps from within PR also used to be instantaneous but now takes upwards of a minute to show in the program monitor once I commit the change.

Double-clicking in the project pane and opening the After Effects file to import a comp also takes forever. First, it takes several minutes to populate the top-level folders of the AE project in the import window. Then, it takes several more minutes to populate the comps when I drill down into one of the folders. This process used to happen immediately in 2018.

I am having similar performance issues in After Effects including rendering both inside AE and in AME so although I tried exporting my comps as footage clips the renders were taking so long I canceled them.

I have tried using all three rendering engines (software, Metal and OpenCL) for both AME and in Premiere's project settings as well as restarting, clearing caches and deleting preview files. Nothing changes.

I am working on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018):

macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (I am unable to upgrade to Mojave due to our IT dept and enterprise security apps)

2.9 GHz i9

32 GB memory

4 GB Radeon Pro 560X

1 TB SSD (OS and apps)

1 TB Samsung T5 external SSD directly connected without adapters (project files)

This thing is a monster and so far has handled everything I can throw at it...until now. So, I don't think it is the computer at all. I am up against deadlines and lost a lot of time screwing about with 2019. Luckily, I hadn't made any significant time-consuming changes and rolled back to 2018 and finished the projects there.

I know there are several existing threads about similar performance and stability issues but this seems to be a wide-spread issue that isn't getting enough attention from Adobe. I am going to keep using 2018 and hopefully, anyone who sees this post or any of the other threads thinks twice about upgrading or at least leaves the 2018 apps installed and doesn't test out 2019 with any critical projects! Don't be an overly-excited early adopter like me!

P.S. I haven't had any of these issues with Lightroom Classic, PS, AI or AU. Only PR, AE and AME. Granted, I spend the vast majority of my time in the video apps and only use the other apps for quick tasks to support the editing process and I haven't any large batches of raw files in LR since upgrading.

I'm trying to finish a project on my laptop that I started on my desktop. I've copied the project folder and all the files. When I open the Project I get an error versions not compatible. The problem is I don't have an available update on my laptop when I open the CC app. I'm running version 13.0.1 on my desktop and 12.1.2 on my laptop. Why can't I update both machines to the same versions? My desktop is running windows 10 and I have windows 7 on my laptop.

How do I use shared Google Photos files in my Premiere Pro project?

$

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm relatively new to the software and don't exactly know all the terminology. A friend of mine shared a couple albums with me on Google Photos, which included both photos and videos. I did a mass download of all of those files to have them available on my computer. The files do say "compressed" I'm not sure if that's the problem? Regardless, Premiere Pro won't let me simply click and drag these files from my file explorer into the project. Just wondering if anybody might know what's going on? Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
