Sequence settings do not match those of my still images?

I have some 3200x3200 .jpg images I wanted to bring into CS6. I bring them into my Project Window and drag them onto the New Item button to make a new sequence based on the image. I also checked the file properties on my Mac to confirm they were 3200x3200.

1. When I mouse over the image in my Project Window it shows up as 3200x2000 instead of 3200x3200

2. After making my new sequence based on the image, I check the sequence settings, and it shows up as 1728x1080

Why is it doing this and why is it not reflecting the size of 3200x3200?
