I am having some problems with the track matte effect, in CS6, but only on the timeline I want to use it on! I wonder if it has something to do with the number of tracks in my timeline?
I've created a shape with the pen tool in a Title to mask out an overexposed area, so I can bring down the brightness a bit.
I duplicated the clip and applied the track matte key to that clip selecting the track the clips is on, in my case track 4, but it will not allow me to select track 4, even though it is among the options available. It defaults to track 5, so I moved my Title to track 5.
But, any color corrections I make are applied to the entire clip, rather than to just the matted area of the clip, as if the matte isn't there.
For fun to test this, because I have successfully used the track matte key before, I made a new timeline with just this one clip and only the three tracks needed and it works as I expect it to, beautifully.
But even when I copy and past those clips with all of the effects applied into my original timeline with the rest of my video it will not matte out just the shape I drew as it had done in the new timeline.
I even created a 7th and 8th track and moved them up there, thinking for some reason they need to be on the top most tracks... no go.
I tried doing this with different clips on my original timeline and I have the same results.
Any ideas what the problem could be? Do you think re-creating my entire project on a new timeline with fix this issue? I sure don't want to do that unless I know I need to.
