AME bogs down when encoding

I have a fairly edit-intense file that I've been trying to encode (using Adobe Media Encoder) for YouTube. The first part of the video (a little over 5 minutes total length) is pretty straight-forward video and chugs along just fine. Then it hits a section which is heavily edited - a bunch of green screen video with some effects and it understandably slows down. The problem I'm getting is that when it gets through that section to something less intensive, it continues to be VERY slow to render frames. It's like the tough part made it tired and it just doesn't have the energy anymore. I've tried several different output options, all with the same results.

What's most frustrating is that during editing, I have saved versions of this which did not bring the encoding to a halt. In fact, the most recent successful encoding was making a DVD ISO in Encore which also included an additional video and menu screen. Yet that worked as expected in a reasonable amount of time. What could have changed?

I started this project and wrote to DVD in CS6. My first attempt at the YouTube output was also CS6. Thinking the upgrade to CC might fix the problem, I upgraded, but it's reacting in the same way.

I appreciate any help - thanks!

I've just migrated from Media Composer to Premier CS6 and my trusty ole Macbook Pro can't run it well. This is how it specs out. Am I in trouble? Is there some sort of proxy media solution that would suit me?

Huge Thank you!

Hello,

I have a film to deliver to a TV station and I would like my video to comply to the following indications I received :

"YUV colorspace

electric level 700mV (+/-5%)

fonds de synchro (sorry this is in french and I don't know the translation) level -300 mV (+/- 10%)

luma 100%

chroma 75%

blacks must not be sticked nor crushed ("ni collés ni écrasés")

I was thinking of using the premiere pro video limiter effect, as well as the broadcast colors effect, but I don't know if I must preferably use both or only one, and I neither don't know how to setup their values.

Thanks alot for your help.

Where Are My Autosaves?

I have my Preferences set to autosave every 5 minutes, up to 99 versions.  When I opened my project this morning all my work from yesterday STRANGELY has disappeared!  I made sure to save my project when I closed it as well.  Seeing my work gone I looked in my Auto-Save folders and the most recent copies I can find are from July 2, and only two saves.  What happened to all the saves from July 4th??!!  Including the manual save I performed when I closed the project at the end of the day...?!

I'd sure appreciate some help, thank you in advance!

overlay cropped clip on another clip with cropped portion of clip transparent

I am attempting to have one video clip that has been cropped appear as an overlay on a full screen clip. When I import the cropped video clip - the cropped area is not transparent - so my technique must be wrong. Please help.

Here is how I am doing it now: I crop a clip, adjust the image with effects, render it and export it as a .wmv. I open the Premiere Pro project that has the full screen clip and import the .wmv. When I place the imported .wmv in the timeline- on a track above the full screen clip- I except the cropped area to be transparent so the full screen image shows through. Unfortunately, the cropped area appears as black and blocks the full screen image.

Thanks for all help.

Has scroll wheel behavior in the Source panel changed, or am I on crack?

Unless my muscle memory is completely off whack today, I don't recall the scroll wheel performing a jog function in the Source panel before.  Have I done something, inadvertently, to change this behavior?  When I scroll, I'm expecting the window and the current time indicator, or play head, to scroll with me so I can move to another portion of the file (like it behaves within the timeline).  Instead scrolling stops the video and puts it me into "jog forward" mode, where the scroll wheel simply jogs forward until I release.

Help?

How do you estimate editing time for a client?

I've recently started doing some freelance work and have been asked to estimate how many hours it will take me to edit the project.  I've heard the 1 hour of editing per 1 minute of edited video thought, obviously it's not as easy as that as there are many variables that differ from project to project.  But does anyone have any tips?

We'll say this project is suppose to be about 16 minutes long, it's already scripted and soon to be filmed.  It has some simple animations, keying and effects but nothing too complicated.  Let me know what works for you!

Ignore Source Out Point doesn't work?

So, I've got an in and out selected in my sequence, and an in and out selected in source window.  I hit my overwrite edit key (B, cuz I'm an old-skool Avid mofo).  And it brings up a window asking me how I want to perform this edit.  Well, I'd like to ignore the source out point, of course, since that's how 4-point editing has always worked forever.  So I click ignore source out point.  And what happens?  It ignores the source out point all right, but it also seems to ignore the SEQUENCE outpoint, and I get a big chunk of footage I don't want slapped into (and over) my sequence.

I thought maybe it was operator error.  So I tried again.  Same issue.

So, maybe it has something to do with loading a sequence into the source monitor, I thought...

And I was right.

When I load a master clip into the source window, I can 4-point edit or 3-point edit like a champ.  But when I load a sequence into my source monitor, everything starts breaking down.  The ignore source out point option doesn't work.  Also, the go to next edit and go to previous edit commands don't work within a sequence in the source monitor.  I toggle to the program monitor (not using any single toggle button, because that feature doesn't exist yet, I have to have separate buttons to get me into each different palette, even though the two most common palettes are source and program) and the comands work fine.

Okay, so I guess my issue is: is working with sequences in the source monitor gonna get fixed?  It's kind of a workflow destroyer if an editor has to only edit from clips, and not edit from their stringouts and cutdowns and selects and what have you.

Hi guys , I am swtiching from fcp 7.03 to premier pro 6.02 is the any way to  use the " Overwrite Sequence Content" command as there is in FCP or mimic the way Avid handles seq-to-seq editing.  so i can edit the original clip of a seq in an other sequence preserveing the original clips and not a nested sequence ?

Exporting for HTML 5 video (.webm & .ogg)

I can't believe there is not more demand for this. My web dev is asking me for over 300 video clips in both .web and .ogg - - AME does not do this.

Do you guys have this problem? Any sucess with a 3rd party plug-in of some sort. I can use Firefogg (from Firefox) but it's slow using over the web as opposed to exporting from Premiere.

OMF export to Protools results in white noise

Hello Forum,

I am having problems getting audio omf to protools. When I export to omf using wav 16bit 48khz using the seperate audio folder with handles on my media the resuting protools session plays back just white noise. The waveforms all look correct in protools, and I can navigate to the .wav files generated by premiere and those playback fine, but not in the protools session.

Anyone else had this issue? any suggestions?

I've also tried exporting just 1 clip from the timeline using aiff and embedded, and I get the same problem.

thanks

Bruce

Lumetri Looks (in PPro CC) "disappearing" or losing "effectiveness"

$

Not sure how to put this, but I've been using the Lumetri Looks and all of a sudden some of them have "lost their effectiveness". What I mean by that is, I am using the DAY4NIGHT plugin a lot. And it always gives that dull purple/blue look and is great just to get a feel for what some of these shots are going to look like. Then all of a sudden, I begin dropping it on clips today and it can't even replicate its own look. There is no blue cast to the look. Just looks slightly unsaturated or minor bleach bypass.

Anyone else get this problem? Ideas on a fix?

Just downloaded cc but, it will not load. Keep getting stopped working error message. Should I delete cs6 first. Could they be fighting. Is there a difference between cc and cs6?

Resolution seems a little low on big screen TV

I shot some video at 1920x1080 (30 frames per sec). I used continuous lighting to light my subject. ISO was 640. The final results look really good. However, after burning to DVD using Encore to prepare the DVD, the movie looks a bit pixely. It does not appear noisy at all (because of the 640 iso), just a bit mid resolution. I have seen sharper, higher quality video on my big screen tv when I view a movie or TV. My big scrren TV is 50"

Is this normal or have I exported the movie improperly from Premiere to get this issue? The export settings I used from Premiere were: Format:Quicktime, Preset:HD1080i 29.97, H.264, 48khz

Thank you.

Premiere CS 5.5 not playing anything

I'm currently running Windows Vista 64bit with CS5.5 Production Premium.  I've tried importing audio as well as video, from both external scratch drives and the main drive, premiere plays 1-10 frames of video or a second of audio and stops.  I've had this problem with CS4 and updating no further than 4.1, solved the problem. I've updated both vid and audio drivers, updated premiere to 5.5.2.  I've searched the forum but most solutions seem related to mac.  I'm at a loss, I'm editing 5d footage, but this problem also applies to standard mp3 files as well.  Any ideas would be helpful!
