Playback - Jump back to last play location
Is there a way to customize playback so that each time I press play or space bar, it returns to the place I played from last? For instance, if I start playback from 1:25 and play until 1:30, I want to simply press the space bar to play again from 1:25. Where can I customize this? I don't want to use markers, selections or any kind permanent marking to do this, as I might want to playback from 1:25 to 1:30 one or two times, and then I might want to playback from 1:26 to 1:30. The purpose is to be able to review quickly what something looks like, or work on the same section of an edit easily. Thanks!

Can't preview effect.

Premiere Pro CC 2017 slow performance, crashing, & media loading problems
CC 2017 is slow as dirt, crashes constantly, fails to load media, is making me go bald.
Here is my system
MOBO: ASUS X-99 Deluxe
CPU: Core i7 5820-K (overclocked to 4.2ghz)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000 G2
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Hydro
Ram: 32gb G.Skil Ripjaws DDR4 (4 sticks)
GPU: GTX 980Ti
Storage: EVO 850 250GB SSD (OS & Programs Installed here)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM
(above 2 drives are striped together to make one 6TB drive)
OS: Win10 Pro
4TB Raid 0 WD Mybook Duo USB 3
I house my media on the Seagate drives and on the external Raid. Working off either one doesn't seem to make a difference.
I'm usually editing mixed formats, typically a mix of 4K and 1080p. Different frame rates often too.
Premiere never has problems starting up. Media is usually pending for seemingly forever and I just have to sit and wait for like 10 minutes before I can even touch anything or else it will just freeze up. When I finally can start working I usually have to drop the res down to 1/4 to get smooth playback. Constant crashes and freezes. Anytime I try to export XML and I just get a blue spinning circle of nothingness.
Basically it's just slow and completely unreliable and really pissing me off. Spent half the day just trying to get it to run before I could actually get to work. Didn't have this much trouble with CC 2016.

audio not in sync with the video
I found when I export and create a file, the audio is a frame before the video. It seems a bag from Premiere to me. Someone else has the good eye to see it or am I crazy?

Dialogue Boxes Appear Behind Playback Screen
I have seen this posted awhile ago but still have not found a solution and I am hoping something new has arisen to solve this problem since the last time it was discussed.
I have a dual monitor set up on a Windows 10 machine.
The notification area of my Windows task bar is on the left (making this my "first screen" in a sense). Because of my setup in my office, the left monitor is my playback monitor which causes problems. Whenever I open a dialogue box, be it the Export Dialogue Box, or even the Playback Dialogue box, it opens behind my video on the Playback Screen. Because of this, I can't access anything. Anything I try to click on inside of Premiere gives me the "ding" that is is unclickable because I currently have a dialogue box open.
Is there any way to make Premiere show Dialogue Boxes over the main window? What makes it even more frustrating is that when I bring up the dialogue box to turn off the second monitor playback, I can't even turn it off because it is hidden behind the playback video!

Unable to install codec - path or access error
I'm trying to encode to HEVC, so Premiere (or Media Encoder) prompts me with a pop-up that says it's needs to install the codec. I click OK, but then another prompt comes up that says "Unable to install ...".
It points to a path: "c:\Users\Public\Documents\AdobeInstalledCodecs\1.0\mc_enc_hevc.dll" and says that it cannot write to it. I've deleted the path (as suggested by the prompt) and restarted the app, but no luck.
This problem isn't specific to HEVC though - it's universal for any codec that needs to be installed after the fact. I do notice though, that when restarting the app, it creates a folder in users\public\documents called "Public Documents" and not "Documents" - so I don't know if that's the problem.
To note, I am the Admin on my system with full access to everything. I'd appreciate any assistance. Many thanks!

No sequence created when I drag a clip from Source Monitor into the Timeline
I am brand new to Premier Pro. I'm watching a tutorial on Lynda.com and following the instuctor's on screen actions. When she drags a clip into the Timeline from the Source Monitor, a new sequence is created and a sequence icon appears in the Project Panel. This is not happening for me.
BUT when I drag the clip from the Project Panel into the Timeline I AM able to create a new sequence and the sequence icon appears. I'm hoping this is a Preferences setting issue?

Masks are not exporting.
I am working in color grading and I create a mask to change the color of a shirt. I used crop, then create the shape, and change the color. I did many times in the same way, always worked. Now in this new version doesn't work anymore. When I export it create a black hole instead the mask corrected.
Someone helps, please!

Searching project panel returns everything with numbered filenames
HI everyone,
Have a bizarre problem. For a lot of my project, I rename my file with a specific numbered code (scene #, shot #, take #) for example "02 03 04.MP4". It's a system that works well for me, except when searching for a specific file or group of file. If I type "02 03 04" in the search bar, it returns many assets with very different names. I have specified to search by name only, but result is the same.
Looks like the problem comes from it being only numbers (since any word works fine). Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Exporting issues
Hello,
I'm having an issue exporting.
I'm exporting like I'm always doing and I've tried 4x times now.
1. My 20GB 45 min file is 2GB 3 mins when exported.
2. My file is 24 bytes.
The export time is like if it was exporting the whole thing.
I've tried:
Sequence In/Out and Entire Sequence, and nothing seems to work.

Standbildsegment verschiebt immer die Spur
Hallo,
wenn ich zu einem Clip ein Standbildsegment in eine Szene einfüge verschiebt sich die gesamte Spur nach rechts.
wie verhindere ich dieses Verhalten?
Die einzige Methode scheint mir zu sein, das Video zuvor in eine neue Spur zu verschieben, alle anderen Spuren zu sperren, und dann einn Standbildsegment einzufügen.
Das kann aber nicht der richtige Weg sein?

I am a newbie when it come to Adobe pro so my question I downloaded Premiere Pro and making my way through it for to edit my drone video's, I also recently purchased a DSLR do I need to purchase Photoshop Lightroom to be able to editing my photo's and will be an additional cost to the premiere pro costs?

Questions about Premiere editing
Hi everybody,
a beginner in editing here. I'm editing my first short film (shot with a RED Scarlet). Got a couple of questions before I begin, dont want to mess up before I begin so I have to re-do a bunch of stuff afterwards. I've tried to google this and watch tuturials but don't feel that I have a 100 % grip of the questions below.
I'm using Premiere and Creative Cloud so everything is the latest version.
Any answer on any of these questions are appreciated if you are kind enough to share your wisdom with me.
1. How do I connect the proxy files to the original R3D files in Premiere?
2. Should I keep all the RED/R3D files within only one folder or is it OK if they are split up in several folders like this:
A001_543534
A002_755454 and so on.
I've read somewhere that its easier if they are only in one folder like the proxies? And they should have the exact same name? So when they
reconnect before final export, it takes less time?
3. If editing is locked, which process is the easiest to export everything to Speedgrade, grade everything and then back to Premiere?
Will transitions,dissolves, subtitles disappear in Speedgrade or will everything remain intact?
4. How do you go online and/or offline in Premiere? I know about the terms, just curious about what it means in a practical sense in Premiere.
5. Whats the easiest way to create proxies for 5K 3RD files? I know that you can use the "Ingest" function in Premiere or Media encoder.
But I'm wondering whats the easiest and less time consuming way and which format should I choose in my case?
6. Any tips on the folder structure in the project bin of Premiere? And if I should watch out any timeline/sequence settings before I begin?
7. If I want to export only one file to After Effects from the Premiere timeline, put some effect on, and back to Premiere timeline, whats the easiest process for this?
8. I'm doing two versions of this film, meaning one without subtitles and one with english subtitles. Can I just have two sequences/timelines within the same project?
9. When the timeline has a red line showing, do I have to render all the clips or can I just continue editing and render later? Any risks?
10. We used timesync between the audio and the RED camera during set, so I'm wondering if theres any smart way of connecting the audio WAV files to the video files or do you just have to do this manually? The sound is recorded with polywav files (meaning that its only one file in the folder, but when you open in editing software it branches out several files within that one file, boom sound, microphone sound and so on).
11. Anything more I should secure/check concerning settings etc. before I start editing? Or pitfalls to look out for?

Premiere CC 2015.4 can't see mapped network drives (new issue)
Our office works in a network environment with several NAS storing projects and assets. We have never had issues with mapped drives being recognized in Premiere (and in fact everyone else in the office still doesn't have any issues). We have just had a new EditShare DAM system installed and as part of the training I was trying to drag assets/sequences from EditShare to Premiere but it wouldn't let me.
**SIDE-NOTE** this is not an EditShare issue. I only point that out to show how we discovered the issue.
I then noticed that in the Premiere Media Browser none of the mapped network drives were showing up and neither were their non-mapped network locations. I have read through the issues and solutions presented in Link Media on Network drive in Premiere Pro CC as well as the links to the other threads pointed to in Post #2 of that thread. I am running on Windows 10 (fully updated).
I have a similar setup at home, Win10 (updated) and PPCC 2015.4 (fully updated). I opened Premiere there and I can see the mapped drives on my network just fine. As I mentioned the other 2 editors and the 2 producers can still see mapped drives in Premiere just fine.
In fact when I went to open a project I was working on last week by double-clicking on it from within explorer (from the mapped drive) I was presented with this error:
Not sure what that \\?\ was, so I disconnected all mounted drives, and then remounted them. Still no good. I then opened a command prompt and did a "net use /persistent:no" and cleared all drive mount persistence then disconnected and remounted all the drives. Again, no dice.
Oddly enough, I was at one point able to open the old project I had been working on but only after I performed "Sync Settings" from the Premiere opening splash page and only by double-clicking the project file (couldn't browse to it on the network or mapped drives once inside premiere). Regardless, it still didn't recognize any of the media. I was able to re-link all the media by unchecking the "Use Media Browser to locate files" but that still didn't solve the issue of not seeing mounted drives. I can't open any projects from within Premiere on a mounted drive and I can't see any mounted drives in the Media Browser.
Too add additional confusion, After Effects and Media Encoder both see my mapped network drives no problem!
- My account at work is an Administrator account (as is my home account)
- I have tried running Premiere as an Administrator, even setting it to always run as Administrator
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere twice (once leaving the preferences, second time deleting preferences)
- I have restarted the PC multiple times
- The firewall is disabled for both private and public networks
- Windows Defender is also disabled (as I read that could create issues)
Many of the people in threads I've read say that Premiere just isn't meant to function on a network and everything should be done locally. I don't need to hear that please. It's been working fine ever since we upgraded to CC 3 or more years ago. I'll mention again that it's working as it should for my 2 editor colleagues, my two producer colleagues and for me at home.
If anyone has any other suggestions though, I'm at the stage where I'll try anything short of a reformat (I really don't want to do that).

Play Head wont move.
I am having trouble with my play head when I have a video clip running. The Play Head doesn't move at all when the clip is running. What should I do? By the way, I have the latest 2017 version of Pp. Thanks.

Action of bolt locked in audio track
Dear guys are in the background with an astonishing situation, that is, I should split the audio track (obviously disconnected from the respective V1 video track) with the blade but I see that by selecting it as soon as within the track A1, the cursor becomes a blade with A red strip and consequently unable to do this ..... please tell me what to do to solve (unlock functionality) the problem?
Obviously the video track is unlocked (open padlock) the same thing for that audio (a1) .... that i hate but i can not understand the glimpse
