repost: Mercury Playback Engine Crashes Premiere Pro

$

I am trying this again since the original post got deleted somehow? No notice. Nothing. Just vanished. If I offended anyone, please say so before removing posts. No I am forced to retype everything for some reason I was not given...

I got a reply from John T Smith about there being some issue about the GTX1080 mentioned before, but when I try to re-open the thread to reply I get Unauthorized Error here in the forums... Did John T Smith delete the post? I have no idea.

In short.

I have recently upgraded my computer and now whenever I enable mercury Playback in Premiere Pro CC2015.2 or AE it makes the MPE-screen black and the program monitor freezes. When I try to play, the playhead moves but nothing else happens. When I try to close the program, it becomes unresponsive and crashes.

If I leave Mercury Playback off it works fine.

My setup:

i7 6700 CPU

GTX1080 GPU (ASUS founders edition) driver 368.39 (newest)

32 Gig ddr4 ram

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. No updates available.

What I have tried:

  • I have an Oculus connected to my GPU's HDMI-port. I have tried removing it in case it is confusing the GPU. No change to the problem. I have closed down the Oculus apps and Steam VR apps to try to make sure there's no conflicts there.
  • I have checked to see if there's any new drivers on GeForce Experience and on NVIDIA's webpage. Nope, I have the latest
  • Again. Windows 10 is updated to the latest version (v1511, OS Build 10586.318)
  • I have tried uninstalling the apps. Done a reboot. And then re-installed them. No change.
  • I have tried disabling GPU accelleration in project settings. Saved the project and then re-opened it. No change.
  • I even tried to manually download the GTX1080 driver and forcing a re-install of the GPU. No change.

In regards to John T Smiths email that I wasn't allowed to reply to (again, I have no idea if he was the one to delete the original post):

I have tried searching around on the forums for GTX1080 related issues (a fair question since the card is very new on the market and teething-problems are bound to be encountered). The only one I found was something about r3d files not working properly. But I have no RED-camera. My footage is shot with GH4 (4K mp4) or GoPro 4 Black when I am not using assets created with premiere or AE or Flash or Photoshop. Also. That issue doesn't seem to be about mercury playback crashing Premiere so I don't think it is entirely relevant.

Please don't delete this post too without telling me why. And I am grateful for any tips and pointers for this problem.

I hve a special mov file (sfx: fire on transparent background)

If i try to import it to premiere / after effects cc then an error occurs: There is missing codec for Quick Time. Error: 0xc00d5212

Its not possible to convert it into another file (some prgs could do this, but the transparent background turns into black - and i can´t use this effect anymore).

There is no hint WHICH codec is missing! How can i find it?

And last but not least: there is no support for QT on windows anymore.

Editing in Adobe Premiere is Choppy and Unusable

Hello there, we have the latest version of Adobe Premiere and editing is choppy making the program nearly unusable.  We have tried different settings but are not really sure where to look.  Here is the computer setup:

Windows 7

AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core Processor

24GB Memory

7200 RPM hard drive w/ample storage

Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 8GB GDDR5 DUAL DVI-D/HDMI/DP TRI-X OC Version (UEFI) PCI-Express Graphics Card

So far, we are disappointed with this application.  If you can, please suggest some settings or a codec or something we can install.  If this is not possible - perhaps you can make a hardware upgrade recommendation?

Thanks a million!

hi, i am freelance videographer. i still new in editing 4k video. i dont know what must i do. i shoot video footage 4k using samsung nx1 that have h.265 codec. this is just short video maybe less than 5 minutes every single clip. but i have many of video clip. i must send my footage to my patner but with prores codec in every single clip. you know that prores have more large data than h.265 codec. can you suggest me how must i do. my plan is editing h.265 footage in local pc per clip for colour grading with adobe premiere pro. after that, i save my raw file and file premiere pro and upload it to my vps for rendering to prores. this is because to efficient my large data. after that, my final footage that have prores codec send to my partner. is my plan right?  or you can give suggest that more good workflow. oh ya, i edit footage with adobe premiere pro so i render it to prores with adobe media encoder. what plan i must buy? is singgle app adobe premiere pro including adobe media encoder? or i must buy all apps plan? and, i editing in my local pc and render it in my vps. so, i must buy 1 licence or 2 licence for my local pc and vps? thanks

What is a "low-level exception" error?

$

Hi,

I sometimes have "Low-Level exception" errors in Premiere Pro like:

A low-level exception occurred in: AE.ADBE Lumetri (GPUVideoFitler::Render)

A low-level exception occurred in: RED-Quelleinstellungen (AEVideoFilter)

A low-level exception occurred in: Verkrümmungsstabilisierung (AEVideoFilter)

A low-level exception occurred in: Adobe-Bereiche (Transmit::PushVideo)

A low-level exception occurred in: Upload Node (GPUVideoFitler::Precomute)

A low-level exception occurred in: Importer MPEG (Importer)

A low-level exception occurred in: Importer MXF (Importer)

Does anyone know what "low-level exception" errors are and why they occur? BUT much more important -  what can I do that they do NOT occur?

Kind regards,

André

How do I access the program I paid for??????????

WISH I NEVER LEFT Final Cut Pro 7.....

My assistant editor persuaded us to leave Final Cut Pro 7 and boy I wish I never did....

HORRIBLE THINGS about Adobe Premiere CC if you're interested:

1) It's so sluggish it makes work uneditable. FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

2) The timeline ALWAYS jiggles around in Premiere CC. I set the mark to edit and it jumps from clip to clip without stabilizing. FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

3) Premiere CC always crashes.  FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

4) Premiere CC has HORRIBLE 'snapping' - I honestly can never cut straight.  FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

5) So sick of the left side suddenly expanding only because I moved my cursor. Premiere CC is too sensitive.  FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

6) I can't move from clip to clip unless I hit the 'shift' key.  FCP 7 never did this. Ever.

Moral to the story? I fired the assistant editor and refused to give the idiot and IMDB credit because of making me switch to Adobe Premiere CC. Who on earth likes this program? Aliens from Mars? Stepford Wives? Who could possible like this program?

Adobe Premiere CC was an absolute nightmare to work with. Have no idea what editing software to use on the next movie as everyone says Final Cut Pro 10 is horrible too. Everyone loves Avid but it will take me forever to learn.

What I'm using:

New Macbook Pro 2015

El Capitan

16 Gigs Ram

so I am making a Photo slide show for my step sisters graduation, I have approximately 280 photos all lined up. when looking at my premiere screen they are clear and have no issues. once I try to export it to Encoder, random photos become blurry and I don't know how to fix it. I have tried changing the resolution, but seeing as I'm not the most technological advanced editor, I don't know how to fix. will post screen shots Capture.PNGCapture2.PNG

Whenever i create a title, or sequence, it always appears in the wrong place in the project. Rarely have i remembered to do extra clicking to rummage through my Bins first. After i've been working a while i think "oh, i better tidy up my project & bins, because i'll never find [whatever] next week"

But click and drag doesnt seem to work anymore ?!?!?!

(oh, if your project is so small there are no scrollbars it does work)

My colleagues say the workaround is to copy [whatever] to the right place, and then delete the original.

which usually causes more problems! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

(and yes Cut is not available)

So do i make a feature request for the equivalent of a door on a train, or is this a bug to report?

Black Playback in Premiere Pro CC 2014 for DVCPRO HD Codec Footage

$

At the university, I started a Premiere Pro project and imported footage with a DVCPRO HD (720p50), Timecode codec as I originally shot using a P2 card and exported the locked XML files through Avid to put it into an .mov format. They worked perfectly fine in the playback after this at the uni but when I brought it home to continue working on it after hours, the footage plays as a black screen in my project. I tested importing other footage with different codecs or the same formats and they worked fine at home, just not the DVCPRO HD codec footage. The footage and project are stored on a hard drive so they're paths have stayed the same. Both mine and the universities Premiere Pro version is the CC 2014, with both on an Apple system. One immediate difference is that when I open the project from home, it alerts me that I was working with the video rendering and playback settings on Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) and it changes it to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only as that is the only setting option I have. I'm not sure whether there's anything else that could be mucking it up and if so, what other differences between the two computers I need to check for, or if that's what's causing the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on what's going wrong and is there a way to fix this?

So I have a user who has a high spec Win7 pc. with a few Adobe progs and nothing else.

His current premiere pro project is 3 minutes long. he exports it and its queued in Media Encoder.

off we go.

FAILS - Unknown Error (whats the point of a log if thats the message)

try again and again - it keeps failing at different points.

i clear cache/temps/etc - still fails.

just keep trying, and eventually it works. like there is nothing wrong.

(i did notice that the preview, in Media Encoder, showed clips in the wrong order?!?!?!?)

Anyways, got it now.

But VERY UNRELIABLE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing ...

Hi there

had Premiere Pro CC 2015 running on my laptop (Windows 10) for a week or so with no problem. Microsoft got carried away and updated and now Premiere won't open and gives the error:

"The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from the computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

So I tried installing MSVCR110.dll from microsoft but no joy.

Tried reinstalling Prem Pro, still no joy.

Any one know how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance

Very slow render times/performance using an 8- core Mac Pro

I have a late 2013 - 8 core mac pro with 32 gigs of ram and  6gb of  AMD FirePro D700. I love using premiere but unfortunately, I find it horrifically slow to use. Particularly considering the hardware that I'm using to run it. I have been trying to render a 4 minute film that has various titles, a couple of adjustment layers. And it takes me 35 MINUTES! :O.  What??? That is unheard of. I have put through a similar project in Final Cut Pro X and it exported it in 2 minutes and 32 seconds... Now I seriously don't want to move to FCPX as I much prefer the Adobe workflow. But how on earth is it running this slow in terms of rendering? I have owned my mac pro for a year and had this same issue; I discovered that I had a dodgy graphics card so that was recalled and I had them replaced; expecting performance to be much faster. However, this is not the case. I bought this machine for the purpose of worrying about being creative and not dealing with computers and issues. Is anyone else experiencing this? Ive found each new release of CC to be getting progressively more slower and bug riddled... Which makes no sense.

Thanks in advance,

Regards

Toby

Adobe Premiere Pro CC 360 Video

I am fairly new at Adobe Premiere Pro CC, I generally use Final Cut for my editing. I recently got a 360 camera that has the footage already stitched together, I am told Final Cut does not support 360 footage yet so I am trying out APP CC. Does anyone know how to edit the footage in Premiere without changing the settings of the footage in order for me to upload it on to youtube? Every time I try, and then upload it on to youtube, the video is distorted.I have been struggling trying to figure this out for 3 weeks already. I am able to post the raw footage on Youtube without a problem, but when I go in to edit the footage ( take the sound out - because it is usually attached to a loud plane) the video is distorted when posted on Youtube.

Please Please help!

Studio or Full Swing and monitoring for Rec709 workflow - additional stuff

$

Firstly don't roll your eyes as I'm hoping that this isn't the regular questions about what is Full or Studio swing ( I hope!!!).

Just read some interesting articles on Wolfcrow about how Premier handles stuff internally and I understand the basics of what the above terms mean but is has raised a couple of issues that I am still a little unsure about; two in fact.

1. The articles suggest that if I open a Rec. 709 sequence then everything will be clamped within the 100IRE standard (a 1080p 25fps timeline if opened first will display 0.3V to 1V on the YC Waveform Monitor).  Wolfcrow goes on to suggest that if I select a file that is recorded in REC709 and choose New Sequence From Clip it will create a sequence and everything is clamped to that standard, so I'm assuming that if I open RAW footage JPEGs or Full Swing Images fromt the bin, they will get clamped into the Studio Swing parameters (everything below and above will be clipped).  They go on to suggest that if I select RAW footage for example and create a New Sequence From Clip Premiere will show the additional infomation out of the studio range ( I understand that some effects won't allow me to go beyond the studio levels and some will, so if I am using the Levels everything will be clamped to studio anyway).

Okay so far so good, however what confuses me is that if I open a new sequence and choose a Rec.709 sequence (I almost always open a 1080p 25fps sequence first and then import my footage) then will all files be clamped to the studio swing parameters? For example if I bring RAW footage or JPEGS in afterwards will they be limited to studio swing, even if I try to grade them above 100IRE (or below 0IRE for that matter)?  I can see the benefits of opening a Full Swing sequence so that I can at least make my own choices about what goes beyond broadcast safe levels and bring everything into broadcast safe using the YC Waveform monitor or using the Broadcast Limiter effect (I can at least see everything above and below and bring them into line).

2.  Okay this might seem obvious to most people but not me I'm afraid. I know that Premiere works with the native files and doesn't alter them intrinsically but it does work internally in a sRGB workspace and  Wolfcrow suggest that no matter what the footage is, RAW, Rec. 709 well everything really, it is to use their words "Clamped down to sRGB on the fly for math and viewing" I guess the math is 32bit Floating Point or whatever Premiere does to enable farily non-destructive editing, it's the viewing bit that confuses me.  If I'm working on a REC709 timeline is Premiere trying to display everything so that it looks correct on a standard sRGB monitor  regardless and I should just trust my sRGB monitor? The reason I ask is that I can change my monitor into a REC709 mode and if I do everything appears to be a bit darker (I still trust the YC waveform monitor and other scopes so I wouldn't go beyond what is legal, it's just that my eyes are telling me that everything looks slightly out of kilter in the Rec. 709 mode).  I guess I am going to be asked what graphics card I use and maybe there is an option to convert Adobe's sRGB to true Rec. 709 on the fly, but to be honest I don't need to work in Rec.709 throughout the entire workflow just because I bought a monitor than can display it, I'm happy to stay in the sRGB workspace as long as everything is legal and looks right to my eyes. I'm sure the obvious is staring me in the face but if anyone can clarify I owe you big time (well a beer at least).
