I am trying this again since the original post got deleted somehow? No notice. Nothing. Just vanished. If I offended anyone, please say so before removing posts. No I am forced to retype everything for some reason I was not given...
I got a reply from John T Smith about there being some issue about the GTX1080 mentioned before, but when I try to re-open the thread to reply I get Unauthorized Error here in the forums... Did John T Smith delete the post? I have no idea.
In short.
I have recently upgraded my computer and now whenever I enable mercury Playback in Premiere Pro CC2015.2 or AE it makes the MPE-screen black and the program monitor freezes. When I try to play, the playhead moves but nothing else happens. When I try to close the program, it becomes unresponsive and crashes.
If I leave Mercury Playback off it works fine.
My setup:
i7 6700 CPU
GTX1080 GPU (ASUS founders edition) driver 368.39 (newest)
32 Gig ddr4 ram
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. No updates available.
What I have tried:
- I have an Oculus connected to my GPU's HDMI-port. I have tried removing it in case it is confusing the GPU. No change to the problem. I have closed down the Oculus apps and Steam VR apps to try to make sure there's no conflicts there.
- I have checked to see if there's any new drivers on GeForce Experience and on NVIDIA's webpage. Nope, I have the latest
- Again. Windows 10 is updated to the latest version (v1511, OS Build 10586.318)
- I have tried uninstalling the apps. Done a reboot. And then re-installed them. No change.
- I have tried disabling GPU accelleration in project settings. Saved the project and then re-opened it. No change.
- I even tried to manually download the GTX1080 driver and forcing a re-install of the GPU. No change.
In regards to John T Smiths email that I wasn't allowed to reply to (again, I have no idea if he was the one to delete the original post):
I have tried searching around on the forums for GTX1080 related issues (a fair question since the card is very new on the market and teething-problems are bound to be encountered). The only one I found was something about r3d files not working properly. But I have no RED-camera. My footage is shot with GH4 (4K mp4) or GoPro 4 Black when I am not using assets created with premiere or AE or Flash or Photoshop. Also. That issue doesn't seem to be about mercury playback crashing Premiere so I don't think it is entirely relevant.
Please don't delete this post too without telling me why. And I am grateful for any tips and pointers for this problem.
