The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements

Hi! I know that problem was in other discussions, but I havent found a solution in any of them. Neither calling to the German Customer Service from Adobe

I have 1 file .prproj with a very important video that I have been editing for a long time, and I usually rename it every month with the last updates. Well, the last month I updated it was August, and now I cant open it: I just get  the message "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements".

  • Strangely I can open the version of July -but not the one of August, where are the last updates on the video!
  • I dont have any other projects after that date, so I cant compare.
  • I tried to open the autosaves, tried to import the project o Premiere (did not work) to After Effects (it made something strange: I could see the video even with its transitions, but the timeline with the clips was not showing in After Effects)
  • I installed a previous version of Premiere. I completed unistalled Premiere. I reinstalled. I closed the Adobe Cloud, opened it...

I can open files of July but not of August.

Does anybody know what to do??

Project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements

This seems to be a common issue with multiple solutions none seem to work for me but here what happens and what I have tried:

I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro, both running High Sierra and Premiere Pro 12.0.0 (Build 224).

I have a premiere project which I've been working on using my iMac with no issue.

I now try and open the same project on my Macbook Pro and I get this message : "Project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"

I've then tried about 10 different projects all saved in the latest version of Premiere on my iMac and they all do the same thing.

Also worth nothing I used this Macbook Pro with the same projects about a month ago and they worked fine.

So what I tried:

  1. Logging in and out of Creative Cloud as detailed here - didn't work
  2. Tried starting Premiere holding down the option key to reset the preference - didn't work
  3. Tried starting Premiere holding down the shift-option key to reset the prefs and media cache - didn't work
  4. Created a new account on my Mac, logged into that and openned the project in premiere - worked fine - so underlying installation is ok
  5. Uninstalled Premiere and included option to delete preferences - then re-installed - didn't work
  6. Uninstalled Premiere and included option to delete preferences, then manually removed the main prem preference plist file and removed my profile from ~/documents/adobe/Premiere Pro/12.0 - then restartred my mac and then re-installed - didn't work

I don't want to reinstall High Sierra (too much time) and from (4) it would seem the OS is all good with a clean account.

I also don't want to import my projects into new projects - I have too many projects I need to use and some are huge so I don't want to deal with the issues and time of importing them all.

There must be some fix out there but I can't think what else to try.

And frustratingly I leave today for a month filming and editing overseas where internet is pretty bad so re-installing over the internet is going to become an issue.

Anyone got any ideas?

I opened a video I worked on last year and converted it since Premiere had been upgraded in the last year.  I saved the file to a new folder and then noticed that I was having Typekit issues and I had been logged out of Typekit.  I logged into Typekit and saw that my fonts were over the sync limit and dumped a few to get down to under 100.  I closed out Premiere and then went to go open it back up and open my new file.  I got the dreaded error where it just can't open the file.  so I go back to open my ORIGINAL project files from the project last year and Premiere is throwing the same error with those as well even though they had not been updated in literally a year.  I can't open any of my auto-save files for this project or any of my backups.

I tried to create a new file and import the project via import or the media browser and it didn't work either way, even though the media browser can see the sequences in the original file.

I've tried to open the same project files on my laptop which is on a different Creative Cloud ID but has also recently gotten the updated CC app and I also had to tweak my Typekit login and sync.

The fact that the original files opened this morning before I got the typekit errors, leads me to believe that this has something to do with project files that use Typekit files.  My hunch is that this might be related to the CC app update I got this past week and the possible changes to how the Typekit syncing works.

I just find it infuriating that I have a deadline coming up quickly and I can't open up files which haven't been modified.  This clearly seems to be a bad bug, and honestly it makes me wary of trusting Premiere.

Any thoughts on workarounds or mitigations?  I am unable to open any files related to this project.

I have been working on a project for work for about 3 weeks and have recently gotten a new computer (i started on the old pc and am trying to export on the new one)

i was able to open the project at first but had to clean install windows because i kept BSOD-ing when i was working. (i keep my work files on a External SSD so lost files should not be the problem) After i reinstall Adobe cc & Premiere Pro cc 2018, When i go to open that project it says it cannot be loaded. I would assume that it would not be "outdated elements" considering i am using the most recent version of premiere but i do not know for sure.

I tried opening the file in Premiere Pro CC 2017 and it says the file cannot be opened because i have already opened it in Premiere 2018. I have tried most of the common troubleshoots such as trying the auto save files and opening the file inside a different file but they have all given me the same error. Im really hoping i do not have to restart this project so if anyone knows any tricks or fixes that would be very nice to know.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

PS:I am using a PC with Windows 10 Pro and am trying to open the file in Premiere Pro CC 2018

128 bit encrypted hard drives and Premiere Pro (latest)

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone would know if Premiere Pro (and other associated CC apps) are able to work with Encrypted external Hard Drives? 128bit encrypted drives*

This is something new to us so if anyone has any experience or knowledge that would be great but searching the forums, we haven't found anything relatable.

Perhaps this isn't something of the norm or no one has ever had any problems in the past.

Thanks!

Legacy title tool functions missing from new Type Tool?

I am looking for the 'background' 'fill' function from the legacy title tool in the new type tool and I can't find it.  Was it moved to some menu that I am missing or are all titles intrinsically created with a transparent background and no other options?

Yes, I know that I can layer the titles over a matte/black.  I'm just wondering if this function is gone in this latest version.

Gradient Wipe Transition broken after update to CC 2018

I have several projects that were built in CC 2017/2016 that I still use as templates for ongoing shows. For a few of my titles I was using the Gradient Wipe transition using the default gradient supplied by adobe. After upgrading to CC 2018 and converting these projects this transition no longer seems to work and the default gradient is missing. Creating a custom gradient doesn't seem to work either. When I do that it only applies the wipe to half of the title while the other half just jumps in with a hard cut while the rest wipes in. How can I get the old transition back?

dual monitor no longer working in Premiere

I have a strange problem that appears to only affect Premiere Pro. I am using a Mac 5,1 tower, 32GB RAM, Nvidia GTX980Ti card, Apple 24" and 27" Cinema displays, and CC Premiere Pro 2017.0.2 release.

For 4+ years, I have used a customized workspace that splits up panels within Premiere Pro. I simply dragged panels where I wanted them to be, and saved a workspace for my use. Worked great, until yesterday.

When opening any Premiere Pro project, initially both monitors appear as expected, but after 10 to 30 seconds one of my two monitors turns solid white. If I close the project and reopen that project, or open another project, the same behavior happens. Rebooting Premiere or my Mac does not resolve it.

I am able to set the monitor that turns white to be a "playback" monitor to see full screen playback of the program. That works, but I want my customized workspace panels back!

I am able to use both monitors with other dual screen configurations (tested with Adobe Audition), and place other apps in either screen. Everything outside of Premiere Pro is working like normal. Any clue as to why Premiere Pro is unable to use my dual screen workspace and how to restore it?

EPS vecotor looks awful in Premiere CC. Why?

The same file worked and displayed well in Premiere CS6. I've opened the project with Premiere CC and the vector EPS appeared rasterized and low res. It displays this way on preview of the video and after exporting the movie. Why is this happening and how can it be fixed?

RED IPP2 LUT Iissue

I've been using the IPP2 transform LUTs for a while now, but ever since the latest update for Premiere was released I've been getting this weird banding on my shots when I try to process them. It's as if it's over processing the image. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, it fully has me stumped.

Exporting file as .mts file

I am academic who is using video for research purposes. I make longer recordings 1+ hours on a Canon XA30 with separate Marantz PMD661 audio recorder(s). I usually sync these files edit them to the same length in Premiere and export .mp4 (H.264) videos and .wav audio files to work with. (It's important for my purposes that audio and video are the same length.) However, I need to archive my video files, and the archive is requiring me to submit a single .mts file. They use tsMuxeR to stitch long .mts files together, but for various reasons I'd rather not use tsMuxeR to stitch mts files.

Is there any way to export a single .mts file in Premiere? I'd like to submit this file to the archive.

IMPORTING RDC FOLDERS FROM RED 8K RAW MEDIA

$

I am trying to find a smooth workflow for bringing in the media. I have spoken to RED support and they have said that I have to bring in each entire RDC folder, (which may contain as many as 6 or 8 "segment" clips of 4gb each depending on how long the shot is) in order for premiere to read all the data. Does anyone know if this is true? If I bring in just one "segment" clip will Premiere still be able to read all the info for that clip? Also, when I do this with the ingest settings on to create our proxys, I get an error message of "not supported"... I click ok and it does work, but I also get a proxy file for each individual "segment" clip... Because I'm editing a feature film, the result of this workflow is that I will have more than 1000 Proxy files. Any suggestions or knowledge on the topic would be greatly appreciated. Also, it's my first time working with RED 8k footage and there seems to be some confusion as to if RDC are files or folders. In all the media I was given they are "folders" which Premiere treats differently of course.

RED 8k RDM and RDC folders in Media Browser

$

I am editing a feature that was shot in 8k on the RED Weapon. When bringing the media into the Media Browser, some days it shows up as a series of RDC folders without an RDM folder. On those days, when queued to import, ALL the segments of each R3D file show up ready to import, 001, 002, 003, 004... or whatever depending on length of the shot (each 4gb), when this happens, there is NO RED icon next to the segments, (in list view). If I queue the media from the RDM folders, only the 001 segment shows up from each shot, and the IS a RED icon next to each one. My real question and concern is why, what does the icon represent, and when I import the individual 001 segments from the RDC folders into the project window, am I getting all the data/information from that shot? Side note, but related, if I import all the segments from the RDC folder, (001,002,003...) it will create a file in the project window for each one. So, they are behaving like individual files. Are they all identical, but just with different file designations?

Hello,

I just updated to Premiere Pro 12.0.1 and I cannot open any projects that I was working on in version 12.0.0. It says "opening project.." and then the application CRASHES. I have no idea why. I tried clearing the preferences and nothing works.

How do I go back to 12.0.0

Thank you.

My Premiere version is 2017.1 11.1.0 (222) and I'm on Windows.

I've been working on a project for the last few weeks. I opened Premiere today and worked on the project for a few hours. I edited a sequence, did not import any elements or installed any plugin. I didn't move any files around at all.

I exported my clip, saved the project and closed Premiere.

When I tried to open the project again a few minutes later the error occurred. I panicked and tried to open auto-saves dated back a few hours. None of them opened at all! Same error!

I already tried to import the project to a new project but I get the same error.

I can't lose all my work! Please, I need help!

Moving Project files to a new folder = Damaged .prproj

$

I'm having a problem where after I'm done with a project I move everything from the project folders where they are all organized the way I like them.  And I move them from the working folder into a "Completed" folder, this folder is on the same drive.  Now when I go to the completed folder and try to open the edit up, it does not open. It says The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements. Every time... Unfortunately I'm on to my 5th project and all the projects before this one are displaying the same thing...

I have tried using the Project Manager to move the files over to a new location but it does not keep all the files organized like I had them previously. And the edit also says that it is damaged.

I have also gone through and checked that ALL the assets are located in the same folder and that there are no other assets that could be in any other folders.

I have also tried opening a new project and then importing the selected sequence into the new project.  That does not work.

Its crazy because I LITERALLY just had this edit open and working but as soon as I copy it or move it to the new location it will no longer open the project and says its corrupted....

Why isn't it simple to just move the entire project folder from one location to another, and then when opening it, specifying the new location to the media when it goes to look for it... Isn't that how it is supposed to work?

Creating Proxies / Sequences for RAW Arri 2048x1536

$

Hello! Greenhorn AE here on a documentary that was shot in both 4k and 2k (predominantly 2k as they realized mid-shoot it was a better workflow).

I'm desperate to understand creating proxies better, and to know what the best proxy resolution for my footage should be? The footage was shot on an ARRI in 2048x1536, 24FPS with a 2:1 Aspect Ratio The settings I have right now are as follows:

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 11.58.26 AM.png

My editor wanted to edit in a 2K workflow, so I decided to just create the proxies at the same resolution as the RAW, but gut the file so it would be less cumbersome. I'm also in the predicament of making the 4K proxies into editable 2K proxies, but I'm told that some serious letter boxing will occur when downscaling the footage.

My biggest issues are as follows:

1. If I create a sequence sourced on the proxies, will that create issues down the line if the sequence needs to change for delivery? (I.E to the colorist, graphics designer, finishing house, etc.)

2. If I were to have to create a new sequence mid post production process, would we be able to just drop in the current proxies and work with them in whatever sequence we choose?

3. What is the best resolution / aspect ratio to output the proxies for 2K to begin with?

4. What is the best resolution / aspect ratio to output the proxies for the 4K to work with the 2K?

Thanks to anyone who helps me with this in advance, I know the questions may be a bit confusing, but I never got the opportunity to learn about these settings and ratios in the school I went to. Asking for a friend!

Best,

Brianna
