iMac 5K using and BM IO - source monitor plays 25P as 50P causing 4sec black between source and program

$

25P playback in PPro source monitor IMac 5K using Blackmagic IO outputs 50P

The effect is 4 seconds black as monitor re syncs when I switch between 25P program monitor and 25P material in the source monitor. Occurs on iMac 5K not MacBookPro.

This occurs with:

25P AVCI footage in mxf wrapper from Sony F5 and

25P AVCI mxf op1a export from PPro

Playback in Source monitor is reported as 50P by BM Desktop Video and the monitor.

A sequence created by dragging the clips to create (thus matching 25P AVCI) reports as 25PsF in BM (and thus 50i by monitor)

Modifying the clip interpretation to 30 frame interlace can result in 60i and then adjusting to 25fps can result in 50i but this doesn't appear consistent.

This is on an IMac 5K using driver 10.6.4 with El Capitan up to date and CC2015.2 up to date.

The issue occurs with both Ultrastudio 4K and MiniMonitor (the MiniMonitor downscales the 50P to 720/25P

The issue DOES NOT OCCUR with the same project/media/drivers/software/IO on a MacBookPro.

I'm not sure if this indicates a bug in PPRO or BM driver.

Thanks for any help or confirmation or otherwise of this problem on a similar setup

Query on video quality!

Hey guys,

Just exported a video at 720x400 and the quality of my title sequence is not sharp. Very washed out and blurry. What would be the cause of this? Is there anyway to improve it? Would the Bitrate settings have anything to do with the lack of quality?

Cheers Sav

No DVD Chapters in Encore CS6 m2v file

Hi!

I have a Problem importing DVD Chapter from a m2v file, exportet with encoder 2015.2.

I have a DVCPro720/50p Project in Premiere CC 2015.2 and what to export as mpeg2 DVD m2v and ac3 files.

Export is done, i got the files, and the xmp file, but no xmpses like it is doing h264 m4v. With Bluray it works fine, Chapters are imported with Encore.

Importing this m2v file in Encore CS6, i only get the movie without chapter markers.

Any suggestions whats going wrong? I did this workflow several times in CS6 Premier, without losing Chapters.

I found a silly workaround, when exporting m4v and m2v, just copy and rename the xmpses file to m2v and chapters appear when importing the m2v file to encore. but thats takes too long, doing h264 render when its no need for.

Hello -

Upon moving my Media Cache Files and moving and cleaning my Media Cache Database, I noticed where PPro's default location to put these files, there is a folder named PTX containing files with an .OCL extension.

The dates and times are all the same on all the files and are from last year.

The total size of all the files combined is 1.7mb.

Does anybody know what these are exactly?

Any insight as to what these pertain to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I have directed the Media Cache to be another hard drive on my computer.  But the .ims files still go to the Media Cache folder on the drive C:.  I have deleted the Media Cache folders from the C: drive but that made no difference. My C: drive is almost full, therefore I would like the .ims files to go to the other hard Drive also.

Link Media - Missing media

Hey,

I lost my media again... well I didn't lose it, it is still there in the hard drive, but premiere says that it is missing.  Media off-line.

Then when I try and upload  the clip again into premiere, premiere says unsupported format or damaged file.

Last time this happened and I had to buy a new hard drive...

I can't keep buying $150 hard drives every couple of weeks.

I edit with the portable hard drive... 7200 rpm, G drive mobile with thunderbolt

I haven't moved anything around... the files are in the same place on this hard drive.

Has this happened to anybody before?  How can I prevent this from happening?

Titles/transparency/alpha over DPX sequence doesn't work

Running both CC 2014 and 2015 when I try to put a Premiere title, PSD or even another DPX sequence at 50% opacity over a DPX sequence it turns the screen black. Anybody run into this before?

Windows 7 x64 machine. Can do all this in AE just fine but for some reason it doesn't work in Premiere and I'd really rather not dynamic link the whole feature film to AE to render...

Snapshots for Color Correction in Premiere

Hello! I always did color correction in After Effects, but I'm switching over to Premiere, because it has a perfect WorkFlow and I love the tools. The only thing I'm missing is the Snapshot thing. So now I'm exporting a frame and combine it with my next clip. Thats not so cool tho. So the question is, if there are any kind of plugins for Premiere where I can have the Snapshot (F4) thing just link it is in After Effects.

I would be super happy if anyone could help.

Thanks

6 times faster Premiere - This is how!

A couple of months ago I bought a TOP specced iMac Retina 5k, and expected great performance with Adobe Premiere.  I was disappointed when I realized that my 3 year old Mac with Nvidia-card and CUDA outran my new $6000 wonder-machine.

The reason is that the new iMacs are delivered with a AMD Radeon card, that is not propper supported by Adobe.

After several telephone calls with adobe support, apple support, and some emailing bak and forth, I concluded that I had to figure this out on my own - Neither Apple nor Adobe seemed to be able to help.

THE SOLUTION

The solution for me was this:  BIZON – United States | External graphics card (eGPU) for Apple MacBook, Mac mini, iMac. EGPU Thunderbolt. Up to 9X Boos…

I've now tested it for a week, and projects that rendered at 35 minutes now render at 5!  On top of that, I get less program freezes and errors on my exports.

The power supply makes a little noise, and the installation is a few steps, but besides of that, I am very satisfied with my "new" Mac.

More than 6 times speed is worth every dollar for me, and I would recommend this for all of you, having trouble with the AMD Card.

Apple ProRes Graphics 4444 Alpha in Premiere

Hi,

First, sorry for my english.

I've a big issue in Premiere when i want to include some graphics from After Effect.

I did lower thirds in AE with alpha channel... Everything works fine. I do not use DL because i'd some problems in the past, and i prefer work with export.

The exports were in ProRes 4444 with Alpha... i tried with codec animation as well.

When i put those graphics in Premiere, the result is just nasty !

I tried the same thing in FCPX (i don't like it, but just to try...) and the result is what i expect !!!!

I don't want to work with the apple software because my workflow is based on CC Suite... But i need my client happy and for the moment, it wasn't possible !

The main video is XDCAM HD 1080i50-422. The computer is a Mac Pro running maverick with a GTX Card. Just to tell, i tried the same in a Macbook Pro last generation and the result is exactly the same...

Do you have any idea ??? i join some screen capture to show what is the problem in real.

Wait for you to save my edit on that !

Kind regards

Guillaume

Find clip for sound

Hello! I was editing a short documentary and was cutting bits and pieces from a recording, putting in only sound clips from the cuts. Later on I thought it'd be nice to put in the video clip as well. Is there an easy way to pull out the video part of the sound bit, without having to refind the sound location and re-doing it?

Second (dual) Display cropped - Bug?

$

I have been using a dual monitor setup for years now with no problem. I got a 49" 4k TV to work from as my main display, and a 23" monitor as a secondary display. It seems to be working fine, but when I go out of premiere and open it back up, the second monitor only shows half of the program monitor and it cropped into the top right section of the screen. I found a way to get around this, buy keeping the windowed program monitor on my main screen, but I've never had to do this before? Also when I did this, it randomly had a black rectangle box covering the program monitor (in the same section where it cropped and contained the program monitor before), but this has only seemed to happen once. I could upload a screenshot if it would help demonstrate it better, but was wondering if anyone else had come across this and if there's an easy fix? (without keeping the windowed monitor on my main display).

Capturing to HDD results in juddery pictures

$

Hi guys,

Wonder if you could help with an issue I recently worked on an outside broadcast. We were using the AJA IO XT box

Io XT - Io - Products - AJA Video Systems to connect an HP ZBook workstation to an outside broadcast truck via Thunderbolt in order to capture and play out HD footage to an EVS. The laptop has 16Gb RAM, a Quadro K3100 graphics card, i7 processors a 250Gb SSD and a 1Tb HDD and the appropriate AJA and Thunderbolt drivers were downloaded. The OB truck connected to the IO XT box via SDI cables.

Playing footage out to the trucks EVS was fine and capturing to the internal SSD was fine but when I captured to the internal HDD drive (Toshiba 7,200rpm drive), the pictures were juddery/stuttery both through the capture window and when played back on the timeline.

My initial thoughts were that the HDD couldn’t write the information to the disk fast enough where as the SSD could however HDD drives are being used everywhere for video capture so I assume it is something else.

I also assume that the IO XT box has an internal video card so I don't need a dedicated card in the laptop.

Can anyone shed any light as to why we had this issues and how to solve it?

Many thanks in advance.

Canon MXF Red Frames still- since CC2014 -thats 2+ years with no fix.

We use Five Canon XF 305's in our workflow for Multicam edits. This has proved to be such a pain since we bought into the Creative Cloud.

Its been a nightmare of Red Frames and Read Errors.

I am pretty sure that I am not alone here.

I am also pretty sure that anyone using MXF is upset Adobe hasn't found a fix.

They are saying to Import using the Media browser, - this fix doesn't work.

They say to empty cache- this doesn't work- and costs more time when loading up other projects.

Pretty much- nothing is working except to go back to PP CS6 and convert all the MXF files to .MOV or something else and then import to PP CC.

So imagine the headache of taking hours of footage daily from 5 different cams and converting them so the new Adobe Premiere Software can read it. It ties up two computers full time here in our editing department, and we all wait for the conversions at length before we can get started. Such a drag that it won't read these files properly.

Anyone who thinks they have a fix for these MXF read errors in CC 2015-  I pretty much bet you don't.  It may look good for a while - but it will error eventually. Especially during a multi-cam edit. (I'd love to hear it anyway.)

So this may be a note to anyone experiencing the grief of MXF red frames- Go to CS6 or some other application and convert the footage before you start. Save yourself some time and tears.

Heres hoping that Premiere Pro CC2016 will get this dialled right.

Nested sequence into new sequence then rendered out effects not showing on rendered video

$

Hello hive mind,

So I am editing some very long interviews. My workflow has been to put the whole interview into a nested sequence then colour grade with lumetri in the nested sequence. This nested sequence is then cut in to new sequences, this is all working fine. So when I finish each video, I am sending it to the render queue in media encoder from premiere pro. When the final video is rendered The color grade has not been applied. I don't understand because the color grade is showing up in the new sequence?? help would be very much appreciated as I will be pulling my hair out rendering hundreds of videos individually in premiere pro.

Thanks for your help

Hi

I've just uninstalled and re-installed premier cc.

I did this because in the effects panel Cross dissolve is highlighted and I cannot select a different effect (Dip to black).

Also the cross dissolve will not apply to a video track, I get the no entry sign.

Error: Premiere Pro CC stopped supporting PSD-file

Hi!

I reopened an old Premiere Pro project but all of a sudden all the linked PSD-files are missing. I tried to re-link them, but all I got is the error message "File format not supported". Tried to import other PSD projects as a test, even made a new one, but I keep getting the same error. Anyone knows what´s wrong?

Regards,

Gustav
