Ripple End?

$

We're evaluating Premier CS6. I've been unable to find the equivalent of a "Ripple End" function. You place the "Ripple end" on the timeline where you want all rippling to stop. VERY handy feature. Especially on long format projects.

Can anyone help me find it if it exists?

thanks

Is there a way to re-scale all of the key frames in my sequence with one operation?

$

I'm new to Premiere Pro, and after realizing the quality of images was suffering with the last settings I was using, I copied and pasted my old sequence to an HDV 720p widescreen frame. The images look great, but I need to re-scale all of my still frames, which also means I've lost the flow of all the transitions between each image. Is there a way to re-scale all of the key frames-- perhaps like making all of them 30% larger-- so that I don't need to redo the motion effects on each subclip?

Slight out of sync audio on export

When I export a sequence with the setting:  "Match Sequence Settings"   - Everything plays/sounds fine.

But when I use any other codec (H.264, etc) to export, the audio is always slightly delayed.  It's not much, but you can definitely tell.

Is there something I'm not doing right?  I can't believe that this is just an inherent issue with Encoder's compression.

By the way, I've tried variable/constant bitrate, changing the audio precedence, sample rate.  Nothing makes a difference.  Anytime I compress, the audio is delayed.

Has anyone else had this problem?

No playback on external monitor with PPr CC

Mac OSX 10.8.4

Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor (brand new) w/ Design Desktop Video 9.7.5 driver

LG 52" LCD connect to my DeckLink via HDMI

In PPr CC, when I go to Preferences>Playback I check Blackmagic Playback box but nothing comes through on the monitor. There isn't a "setup..." sub-menu next to Blackmagic Playback, and in the sequence settings there is no "playback options" tab (though that may be a new feature of CC). I have tried the default editing mode AVC-Intra 100 720p 60Hz with the preview format set to I-Frame Only MPEG, and created a custom ProRes 422 (HQ) Quicktime sequence, but neither have shown any results. My source clips are primarily ProRes 422 (HQ), but I have also made a title in PPr CC that does not show on the monitor either.

I have used the same exact ProRes source in FCP 7 + AE CC and have gotten perfect playback on my TV, so I know my cables are good and my output from DeckLink and input on the TV are correct.

I have also tried this in PPr CS6 and gotten nothing. My "playback settings" tab in CS6 is always greyed out, no matter what kind of sequence I create...that could have something to do with it. I am a little new to Premiere, so I'm hoping there is a solution.

Please help! Thanks!

The thread for good things about Premiere CC

I know that people will use these forums to communicate complaints about the new Preimere CC, or to ask questions about things that have changed and become confusing.  People who are happy with the new software, however, may not be inclined to start a new thread to say so.  So this thread is specifically for communicating things about Premiere CC that are noticablely better than in earlier versions.  I, for one, need this information as much as the criticism in making my decision about whether to upgrade or not.

More multicam weirdness - CC

$

Okay... I have an unusual multicam with an even more unusual problem.

We are making short videos for a Spanish class.  These are mostly three cameras with additional, non-sync audio for each of the main actors.  Each video is shot in short takes with a little overlap that need to be put together in a multicam sequence.

I used the new audio sync feature to (successfully!) sync up about 70 files.  They auto sorted into a dozen different multiclips and, for the most part, Premiere was close to perfect!  This is wonderful since my Spanish is "no muy buena"!

I opened each of the multiclips in the timeline.  It is important that I include the audio from each of the actors so I turned all of the relevant audio tracks on.  I selected the best take from each multiclip and pasted these into a new sequence with the intent of making that into a multicam sequence the old fashioned way.  I suspect this is my problem.

When I drag this new nest to the new item icon I get a single video and audio track and all of the audio tracks play at once (all very good).  BUT when I enable the Multi-Camera most of the audio tracks (all of the useful ones) go away even though they were happily playing muxed in the nest before I enabled Multi-Camera!

Any ideas on why this is happening or how I could proceed differently?  I'd really like to use the multi-camera feature but it will be difficult to edit each little piece and then bring it into a finished sequence.

Here are some screen grabs to help:

My original, hand-made, nest called "ALL_techshop"

techshop_nest.jpg

The new item created when "ALL_techshop" is dragged onto the new item icon.  All of the audio channels that I have turned on paly simultaneously

techshop_NOT_enabled.jpg

Enabling the Multi-Camera turns off all of the useful channels:

I Can't load (4:2:2 XDCAM HD @ 50 mbits/sec) spanned clips

So, I switch to Premiere after almost 30 years making a living editing on (many) other platforms. Main reason: File-Based workflow, and specifically the ability to cut from XDCam HD 50. Imagine my frustration when I find that I can't access any of the material from yesterday's 5 camera XDCam shoot. Because the takes are too long? This is a known bug? If so, Adobe need to change the marketing material that so prominently hypes XDCam capability. Are there workarounds? I have a quick turnaround on this job and I could have just rented the XDCam VTR and done a tape style log/load in realtime. Forget the metadata. What a pain in the ***. And Adobe's idea of support seems to be the forum/user group? I spent about 4 hours without resolution in the official "support" system today, both chat and phone. A waste of time. No answers from people who seem to be pretty much clueless about this product. Does Adobe understand that people depend on their products for their incomes? Sorry for the rant. Any suggestions on how to use this footage would be welcome.

Is PrPro CC having trouble with MPEG2 files?

HDV clips are not playing correctly in my project - sound out of sync, video studdering and pixelated.  Same clips play perfectly using Quick View in Mac OSX and QuickTime Player.

Audio from media files becomes corrupted, but video from same files remains fine.

I've been recording footage on a Sony nxcam in AVCHD 1080p 30fps for use in a premiere pro project. After importing the files into premiere they all work perfectly fine, no video or audio issues. I edited an entire narration using only the audio from the media files, and then left my computer for about an hour to get lunch. Upon return, the audio in the files skips huge chunks, and ends about a minute before the video ends, but the video seems unaffected. Deleting and reimporting the files doesn't solve the issue, somehow only the audio in media clips seems to have been severly messed up. This happened again earlier this morning, a media file was working fine, and then suddenly only the audio has huge chunks missing out of it, and the remaining chunks are all bunched together with no gaps so that the audio ends minutes before the video does. Any ideas?

Exporting in Premiere CC

$

I have a 14 min sequence filed with various formats, stills, effects, etc.  Everything renders and plays fine on the timeline, but when I go to Export, the export gets stuck whenever it hits a title (just a regular title made in premiere) or a random still image.  Its very strange because everything renders fine and I'm not having any issues with Premiere.  It just won't export.  I'm on a Pro Res timeline and trying to export either using previews or matching sequence settings.  Both of them fail.  When I try to export to another format (like h264) it seems to work.

This is killing me because I have a finished project I need to deliver, but I can't export it in Pro Res!

Any advice?

I'm on Premiere CC (latest update installed) on a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion (latest update)

New NVIDIA Performance Driver

I've had a few end users contact me regarding the new NVIDIA Quadro Performance driver posted on the NVIDIA drivers webpage, asking whether they should switch to this driver or not. This driver helps resolve a performance issue which may be experienced using certain Lumetri Deep Color Engine effects. The NVIDIA team found that some of the implementations of the Lumetri effects were targeting the GPU in a non-optimal way.  NVIDIA's software team has been working with their counterparts at Adobe to determine the best way to fix this in a future product update.  In the meantime Windows based Quadro customers can download driver version 320.27 http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-tesla-grid-win8-win7-64bit-320.27- whql-driver.html which utilizes a fix in the graphics driver to work around the issue.

Most users will probably never notice the difference unless they are specifically running performance metrics on the Lumetri effects, but the performance driver can offer up to 20-50% performance gains in the affected areas.  Of course actual performance will vary based on the specific project, footage, and effects used.

If anyone has any question on the performance driver, I'll do my best to help answer them.

Pr CC Lumetri Looks and AMD GPU acceleration

Is anyone else having issues with Premiere Pro CC Lumetri Looks with AMD graphics cards?

I am editing a project and if I apply lumetri looks to any footage while Pr CC project settingsis set to playback using the mercury playback engine gpu accelerated (openCL) I have lots of probelms. For example, the video will look fine in the preview screen for a  short while when I preview but later my preview will turn to green or pink, or solid white or solid black. If I export my project with gpu acceleration the project eports fast but will stop in the middle because of "unknown errors".

If I edit the same project and do all the same things except chan ge to CPU playback everything works fine but much slowe.

I have a AMD FirePro V7900 video card which is on Pr CC's list of recommended cards for gpu acceleration.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have an MSI GT60 0NG-294US which comes with the NVIDIA Quadro K2000M graphics card. Adobe lists this as a compatible card for CUDA accleration in Premiere Pro. However the option in the Premier Pro settings is greyed out for me and only allows for the Mercury Playback Engine software only.

What am I doing wrong? Help!

Thank you!!

Hi Everyone,

When editing a video I'm trying to have the image displayed for the first 5 seconds before the actualy video starts.

But when exporting it and testing it out in Windows Media Player and quicktime the image is blurred between 2-3 seconds.

In VLC it's not blurred.

Any ideas whats going on? or ways to fix it so it is not blurry for any players?

the image size is 1920x1080

the video size is 780x420 and it's HD quality when editing..

I even tried making the image 780x420 to match the video but it's the same thing..

Thanks,

Youtube Pixelate Problem

$

I've noticed that videos I've been uploading to youtube lately have been having strange render problems at the beginning for the first few seconds upon first load. In Firefox they are green, in Chrome they are frozen for the first few frames. When I upload them they work fine for a couple hours, and they always work fine when I replay them without reloading the page. This is happening even for videos that I have uploaded 4 months ago. Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FWDglq5x3I

What the heck is going on?!?!
