Premiere Pro CS6 - (ver.7) CC upgrade protocol auto update?

$

Just revamped one of my stations with a new GPU and SSD.  I also purchased an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.  Loggin in to my usual subscription I realized that Premiere Pro CS6 is no longer available and ver.7 is now ''CC.''  This is great and the revamped machine is working wonderfully.  I couldn't be happier.  My wife will mainly use this machine to edit some hobby stuff.

However, the point for this thread is that my main workstation in the den still has CS6 and I did not receive an e-mail to update it or ''upgrade'' (however it's to be called) to the new CC.  So am I to log in to the new CC interface login and download everything again on my main system and delete the old CS6 install?

Thanks a bunch!

Grainy Video when I Scale to Size

I have a complex video I am working on and, I need some help.  I have footage from my family that is all the way back before my parents were married. A lot of that is 8MM, but I also have VHS, HI8, current full 1080 footage, and every picture I could find from the past. It was suggested to me to use standard definition for my timeline since a lot of video I have is standard. It works great for all the old footage, but the current footage and my pictures get grainy when I Scale them to the timeline. My pictures are pretty hi res too. When I compare the pictures in the timline to the original or another sequence for higher. I thought it would have been fine to take high res pices and scale them to the timeline. Am I wrong about that?

Thank you for any help.

For a few months, I had no problems with using Title with PPRO CS6.  Now, PPRO crashes after I select New Title (after selecting Title > New Title> Default Still>).  I get the Title window but no further.  The same goes for Crawl and Roll.  Also, I recently downloaded the update.

I am using Dell Studio XPS 8100; Intel(R) Core(TM) i& CPU  860@ 2.80GHz 2.80GHZ; 12GB installed memory; 64-bit operating system;  Windows 7.

Displaying audio waveforms in viewer alongside composite video

I know you can switch, in the Source Viewer, from Composite Video to Audio Waveform - but is there any way to view BOTH at the same time, similar to how FCPX works? Basically I want to be able to scrub the Audio Waveform timeline, but be able to watch the Composite Video at the same time. Any ideas? Thanks.

How Do I Restore the Corresponding Audio (or video) to a Clip on the Timeline?

$

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm not sure how to phrase it for search:

This is a daily occurrence.  As I go along editing, I inevitably come upon some video clip (or audio clip) on my timeline that is missing it's original audio (or video) counterpart.  I've previously deleted the audio portion (or video) at some point earlier in the edit, when it made sense to do so.  Now, though, I change my mind, or I need to hear the audio to sync other clips, or just hear the audio for reference, etc.

How do I bring back the corresponding media?  I love the new "Join Through Edits" command in Premiere Pro CC, it seems that a companion feature would be something like "Restore Original Linked Audio / Video"

Match Frame seems close to what I need, but involves a few more steps than a right-click, or keyboard shortcut (maybe I don't properly understand how it works).  Does any command exist that would do what I'm needing?  I can't imagine I'm the only one who would need this function DAILY.

Hello, im trying to import an xml exported from Final Cut Pro 7 into Premiere Pro CS6, but Premiere returns me an error message saying that the sequence cant be opened because the codec cant be accessed.

The codec is Apple Prores 422 (HQ), and also all of the codecs that Final Cut Pro gives, dont appear as an option when Im creating a new project file. Only the standart DV, DVCPRO50 and DVCPROHD are available.

My quicktime is updated, and I already have Final Cut installed.

Can anyone help me please?

Broadcast Safe or Video Limiter?

I've testet Broadcast Safe Filter today.

Compared with Broacast Safe Filter in Final Cut the result in Premiere CC looks a litte bit strange when there are to many highlights in the picture - so you can't use it. Final Cut always did a good job with the same pictures. What's the difference between this two programms and this special filter?

Using Video Limiter seems to make a good Job with same Settings (110% luminace level). Is there any difference to know?

Premiere Pro Audio Slipping with AJA Kona LHI

I have noticed that when I run Premiere Pro CC (Latest updates) My audio playing back on the Kona and on the desktop will progressively slip out of sync when my Kona LHI card is enabled through the video output options. The sync issue goes away when the card is unchecked. The initial release of PRCC did not have this problem, but when the updates were issued soon after, the slipping issue cropped up. Anybody have these problems? Any suggestions?

Barn doors transition causes crash

$

Dear Community,

Applied barn doors transition to a project in CS4. Stored that project in 2010.

Opened the project in CS6 CC - and barn doors caused crashes - so I cleaned off the old and applied replacement barn door transitions in CS6 CC.

Once the wipe is applied - its fairly stable - sometime crashes sometimes doesn't.

If I apply a broder colour to the wipe - all ok.

If I then apply a border thickness - crash every time.

System;

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - 6.0.3 (001 (MC: 264587)) through cloud membership
  • Updated and current
  • Win 7 Pro - SP1 - 64 Bit
  • Source footage SONY EX3 - .mp4 and still image .png's
  • No error messages - just crash and need to restart PP CS6
  • Try to apply colour and border to a barn door transition causes the error
  • This worked before on the smae project when created in CS4
  • Not running other software at the time
  • NewBlueFX modules installed but not applied to this area of sequence
  • i7 - 3.20GHz, 16GB RAM, SSD OS drive, 4 x drive RAID on LSI RAID card, - No I/O hardware
  • I am using Are you using Mercury Playback Engine Acceleration and CUDA
  • Problem occurs during normal edit - as soon as I start to adjust the barn doors wipe - I don't get to compression

Thanks

Dave

Sequence Conforming and "Same as Source" in CC / Pro Res

$

Hello all.

Using Premiere CC - on both a Mac 10.8.2 and 10.7.x.  Both machines have CS6, as well as FCP 7 and FCP X installed.

The goal is to import 1 ProRes file with captions, do a few cuts, then export with as minimal transcoding as possible.  No other clips, no other codecs, nothing but cuts and dissolves and captioning.

I import a ProRes file, and create a new sequence based on that file (planning on doing an export after the edit which was based on sequence settings.  I thought this would be the easiest way to maintain the same settings through the entire process.)

On my 10.8. CC machine, dropping a ProRes 422 HQ file on a new timeline, and I select to change sequence settings to match the clip, the sequence settings display DNxHD145.  On my 10.7.x box, the timeline comes up as AVCHD.  An associates machine comes up as ARRI.  Timebase and frame size are right, but not the codec.

I understand that the sequence settings are less important for output, as the transcode pulls from the raw media, not the sequence esettings.

However, without the sequence accurately conforming to the media clip, I am unable to export using sequence settings.  This means I need to manually transpose the codec properties into the export window.  This can be tedious and is easy to mess something up.

So:

1) why is the sequence not conforming to the ProRes clip?  And why is it different on 3 different machines?

2) How can I get the export settings to mirror the clip properties? - without manually transposing the properties?

3) The end goal, in Avid parlance, is "Same As Source".  Does this function exist in Premiere?

Thanks all!

~Michael

Which effect can improve voice volume

Thank you for any help.

Premiere CS5.5 export format Quicktime only has DV presets

$

I have scoured the forums, Google, Bing, everything for an answer to this problem I am having.

I'll get right down to it.  Quicktime is chosen as the format in the Export window.  The only presets available are:

NTSC DV

NTSC DV Widescreen

NTSC DV Widescreen 24p

NTSC DV 24p

PAL DV Widescreen

PAL DV

I've found pictures online of other peoples Quicktime presets, and it seems I'm missing all of the H.264 ones.

I'm working on a PC with HDV material only.  All updates have been installed.  I have also installed the Avid 2.3.7 codecs, which I believe have to work inside this Quicktime container, but they won't look too good when they're DV...  The Avid codecs are showing up correctly under Video Codec drop down.  I have installed nothing other than Production Premium CS 5.5, Quicktime, and the Avid codecs.

Please, please help!

Pink/green line on edge of screen during cross-dissolve transitions to and from black

$

I've seen this posted as a known bug in Premiere, but I haven't found a decent solution to it.  Here's a screen cap of what it looks like:

Pink Line cap.jpg

Notice the pink verticle line on the right side of the frame. This happens when I'm exporting it out of the timeline to another format - it doesn't look like this in the timeline. I have done a few tests and it seems to only do this when:

A) it's fading from black or to black - cross-dissolving from one video to another doesn't do it

and

B) the output video is in widescreen 16:9

It doesn't happen when I'm creating an HD video and it doesn't happen when it's an SD video in "D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)" aspect.

Thoughts?

Exporting for creating a DVD in iDVD

Hello,

What is the best conversion settings for taking a .mov and re-exporting it in order to use it to make a DVD on a MAC with iDVD?

I exported it with H.264 video codec (on a Quicktime preset) and while it exports and runs, when I make a DVD with it, it won't play on other DVD players.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Finding all clips with a specific effect applied? (CS6)

$

I'm just wrapping up a long (2-hour) multi-cam edit and applied the warp stabilizer effect on several clips in the project. As I was skimming the video marking chapters, I discovered some of the clips with that effect had the blue "Analyzing (Step 1)" bar across the clip. Not sure why it didn't complete the analysis and stabilization on those clips originally, but I reran the analysis/stabilization effect and those clips are clean now.

However, I'm worried I might have missed other instances of the "blue bar" in my skimming. Is there a way to search and find all clips in my timeline that I applied the warp stabilizer effect to so I can check them all?

Thanks.
