Feature Request: Modify Audio Channels from the Timeline in Premiere CC.1

$

Why have we never been able to modify audio channels once a clip is added to a sequence?  I'm guessing there's a good reason Adobe has never had this feature.  The lack of this feature is explicitly mentioned a few times in the audio section of the Premiere Pro CC manual, as if it's a benefit NOT to have it.  But the benefit is entirely lost on me.

In my workflow, I synchronize my double-system video and audio before anything else.  I do this in PluralEyes (and unfortunately I'll have to keep doing it this way, until PPr's sync on sound feature gets fixed—for me it's never worked).

Once PluralEyes has synched hours of footage and audio and placed it on a PLURALEYES GENERATED sequence, I import that sequence into Premiere.  Note:  Since I haven't gone through the step of creating a blank New Sequence, I don't get the opportunity to setup my audio channels the way I'd like in my sequence (i.e. Stereo recordings should occupy ONE track, not two.  Typically these tracks come from a camcorder and are used for reference sound, or ambient noise at best, so I don't need them taking up precious real estate in my sequence).

Since PluralEyes doesn't merge my clips for me (or rather I don't want it to since I'm usually doing multi-cam sequences where I want to keep all 14, or so, tracks of audio), I have to go through the clips one by one and do a Merge Clip action once I've adjusted any minor sync issues, or determined which tracks I actually want to keep.  But, and here's the key, at this stage I'm not yet 100% certain whether I'll use the nat sound or the wireless mic sound (separate audio recorder, etc).  Furthermore, I don't really want to think about that at this point.  After I've spent a few mind-numbing hours just ingesting files, sync and merges, I want to jump into the edit as soon as possible, before I lose all will to finish this edit.  If I modify my audio channels right now, I'll lose the ability to make some creative decisions later on.

I'd like to start whacking out an assembly edit.  And then after I have a rough program, I can start looking at which audio tracks (nat or double-system) I like better in each circumstance.  This is where I become stumped that at this stage, I'm locked into whatever audio channels I've setup (or not) in the earliest stage of the edit, back before any media was actually on the timeline!  It's at this stage, and usually only at this stage that I want to start Modifying Channels—FROM THE TIMELINE!

Does anyone else feel the same?  If not, what is your workflow?

Feature Summary:  Right-click on any clip, (master clip, sub-clip, merged, nested or otherwise) in the timeline and choose Modify > Audio Channels.

I've submitted a feature request, with a link back to this discussion, so please pipe in—especially if you want this feature.

CS6 3 Way Color Corrector - levels controls for high mid and shadow

I used to adjust white and black levels only for a specific tonal renge. It was extremely useful to be able to darken a little clipped and blown out areas (like skies).

Now, in CS6 the input and output levels only seem to effect the whole image, and they do not behave on separate tonal ranges.Did they remove the ability to adjust input/output levels for just the highlights, midtones, or shadows? I see all the color wheel controls and sliders for each segment, but can't seem to figure out how to isolate, say, the highlight input level, to adjust just the input levels for just the highlights without it affecting the midtones or shadows.

Please, do not pint me to the video2brain tutorial that solves nothing! ( http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/three-way-color-corrector-cs 6.html )

My Creative Cloud says that I can/need to install and the Creative Cloud (CC) Adobe Programs.  What is the difference between the CS6 programs and the Creative Cloud Programs?  If I install the CC programs can I delete the CS6 files?

DVCPRO HD footage comes in all white - Premiere CS6

I'm on a PC running Windows 7 64 bit using Premiere CS6 as part of Creative Cloud

When I import a quicktime with DVCPRO HD 720p60 codec, the video shows up as all white, but the sound plays (this is also the case when I import the footage to After Effets CS6).

The footage itself is okay since I've openned it on a computer with Premiere CS5.5 and After Effects CS5.5 and and it shows up just fine.

I installed all the CS6 Creative Cloud updates, but the problem persisted.

I followed the directions here http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/features-presets-missing-premie re-pro.html but it didn't help (although after uninstalling Premiere and After Effects, when I ran the cscleanertool.exe it didn't see Premiere or After Effects, so I couldn't use it to clean anything).

Also in Premiere, I can create sequences with DVCPRO presets, so it's not that I'm missing those.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Footage is all white

So I installed the CC updates last week, and have a major problem with Premiere now. All footage of any kind I import shows up white. The thumbnails look fine in preview, but as soon as a clip is clicked on, opened, or hover scrubbed over, the footage turns white. Sometimes when I first start up Premiere it's a mess of giant code until I start moving the playhead around. I've attached screenshots of each instance, and notice that this in't even of actualy media, it's of the "media offline" placeholder. Literally every type of footage I import whatsoever does this. Meanwhile in CS6, everything works fine.

I'm trying a full uninstall of all my CS6 apps now to see if it fixes it, and reinstalling Premiere CC. In the meantime though, wondering if anyone else has encountered this and has a fix? Thanks.

iPhone 5 sound desynch/interlacing issues?

Hey, I've been using premiere's editing aspects for some time now, and as far as that goes, I've had few problems.  However, today, when importing a file from my iphone to premiere, the sound desynches entirely halfway through, and a final render ends up giving me interlacing issues.  I rarely use the mov files from the iphone, but any others I've done before have never had this issue.  I'm not quite as familiar with the clip settings that I've been reading about, but I would like to know what the best suggestions are to alleviating this issue.  I'm not tremendously tech savvy with these things, but I suppose I need to learn.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Where is Functional Content and Templates For CC Version Premiere, Encore and AE?

I'm creating my first title in a Premiere CC project, and no templates to be found. There's a message in the template panel with a download link, but it is for CS6 apps. Doesn't CC version have its own functional content? If not, will the CS6 functional content install into CC apps?

My Premiere Pro crashed whenever I drag videos across timeline. How to fix?

Hello,

Whenever I drag videos across the timeline, the program crashes. It does this no matter what video, or file, or sequence I am editing. It was not doing this before today, when it first crashed earlier. I don't know why all of a sudden my Premiere Pro would start crashing like this.

I use a mac. I use CS6.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Sequence explodes when dragged onto timeline (Premiere CC)

I am using Premiere Pro CC

When I am dragging a just-created sequence (by nesting clips) back to the timeline or any other timeline, all the clips appear separately, and not as a single object (the nested sequence).

Is that new behaviour in Premiere CC or is there a setting to control that behaviour?

Is there a clip pool option?

Hi, I'm relatively new to Premiere Pro. my skills are basic

I recently converted our familys old 8mm movies to AVI. the only thing is I have no idea of the chronological order - I was given 6 reels and just put one after another.

So I have imported all 6 into a sequence and into the timeline (Video 1 track). I then went through the process of slicing each scene, there were lots as the camera was a wind up model so each clip only lasts a minute at most.

My question is, can I put them all in a pool (maybe along the side) and then drag them into the timeline as I figure out the chronological order?

Or should I just drag them to Video Track 2 as I go?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Niall.

Time Remapping Keyframes cause other keyframes to become unrelated to where they are on the timeline

This is the BUG report I have just sent in. If anyone has anything to add.

******BUG******
Concise problem statement:
When I add Time Remapping Keyframes to a clip, other keyframes become un-related to the part of the timeline they are on.

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. ADD TIME REMAPPING KEYFRAMES TO A TIMELINE WITH OTHER KEYFRAMES (LIKE POSITIONING KEYFRAMES)
2.
3.

Results: I ALTER THE UP/DOWN COORDINATE AND THE CLIP DOES NOT EVEN MOVE, THEN I SCRUB ALONG THE CLIP AND IT MOVES UP OR DOWN AT A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PART OF THE CLIP. AS SOON AS I REMAP TIME IT SCREWS UP THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE EFFECTS PANEL.

Expected results: READ ABOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! TIME REMAPPING HAS BEEN BROKEN SINCE CS4 AS FAR AS I KNOW AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT...  SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always just worked around it or avoided using selective time remapping but I have had enough of it... It's like the ability to change the colour of fonts on this forum, non functional (last time I tried to use it), but I would rather have time remapping able to be keyframed than coloured letters, I paid for the time remapping in both CS4 and CS5.

Mac or PC notebook to capture HDV via Firewire

$

I've been using a Macbook Pro and Premiere Pro 6 to capture HDV for a project that requires numerous short on-location interviews. After capture via Firewire, I do a rough edit and then transfer the project to my Mac Pro tower later in the studio for finishing. About a third of the captures I do in Premiere Pro result in the Spinning Beachball of Death on my Macbook. Admittedly it is a late 2008 model but is running the latest Mac OS and with 6GB of RAM I've not experienced any other issues. My Macbook motherboard has now packed it in and I'm looking for a replacement field capture/edit solution. A new Macbook is out of the running for reasons of both cost and lack of a Firewire 800 port. Anyone have experience using a PC notebook to capture via Firewire? I realize it's a seldom-used workflow these days and it's tough to find a PC notebook with Firewire 800. However, I thought I'd best ask as someone out there just might be having better luck using a Windows notebook, seeing as my present Macbook solution requires a Force Quit after every third capture.

Premiere CC crash while playing and zooming timeline

Regularly crashing Premiere CC now while playing back the timeline, I zoom in and out on the timeline using my +/- hot keys and Premiere CC will crash.  I hate to say it but Premiere is starting to become unstable like my prior copy of Sony Vegas Pro.  It's frustrating.

Copying kys to CC

Anyone found a way to transfer their custom keyboard shortcut file ( .kys) from CS6 to CC CS7?

In the past I have just copied my .kys into the user appdata path relevant to the verson of Premiere Pro. eg 6.0.

Not working for me this time. 7.0

Maybe it has been relocated?

This might be a pain in the making.

Will putting a stabilizer on a clip, nest then add stabilizer increase the stabilizing?

Match Frame broken in Premiere Pro CC?

$

So match frame works in CS6, but in Premiere Pro CC, there are a couple odd things happening for me.  When pressing F the Source panel will exibits any one of a few different behaviors (seems entirely random):

1.  A black frame

2.  The correct clip, but not the correct (matched) frame.

3.  Occassionally the correct (matched) frame (usually only the first time I use Match Frame on any given clip in my sequence).  All subsequent Match Frame commands while on the same clip in the sequence will not update to match Source with Program, they'll either stay on the first matched frame for that clip, or go black.

You can still drag the audio (or video) portion from the Source panel to the timeline and it will be the correct portion of audio (or video), but actually "matching" a frame seems broken in Premiere Pro CC (again, it works in CS6).

This happens every time I open Premiere Pro CC. I have not been able to find any info online about this. Premiere Pro CC works fine on my desktop but for some reason it hates my laptop.

Premiere Pro CS6 works just fine on my laptop, I've never had a problem with it. Any help on this would be great. I have already tried running the CC cleaner script and that did nothing. Thanks.

Replacing Sequence Clip

$

Hi Guys

I'm on the road and need to update a project that is compliled from sequences of many other projects. I'm using Win7 64bit and my clip archives are saved from my main PC in the office to an external HDD.

When I open the project it asks to relink the one or two clips that are in the main sequence from the project's own folders. However this project is a mixture of many sequences imported from other projects and I cannot see an obvious way to update the clips without opening all the individual projects (which would be a pain...) Any ideas on the obvious I have forgotten and overlooked???

Graham
