Audio Tracks

I have am receiving empty tracks from a sound mixer, and in CS6 I could just modify all tracks and set the blank tracks as none, and they would not appear when I used the clip. In CC when I mark them as none they still appear in the sequence/ timeline. I am having to manually delete each and every empty track for each clip. Is there any other way to do this? Am I doing it wrong? or is this a glitch with CC. When I try to modify the tracks again the tracks are still marked as none, yet they will not disappear.

In and Out time references on individual clips

Having taken multiple clips from one source, I wanted to check the times they were taken from, so I could match the times on a second camera. To my dismay, there was no such information on the individual clips. In the end I had to lay all three camera sources out on the timeline and trim them at the same time.

Is there a way to view the start and end times on a clip taken from a larger source?

I have a PPro CC sequence with a few audio tracks that I want to edit in Audition. When I select the command, it seems to prep files, but Audition does not open. Is that a bug maybe?

I can open Audition myself and find the project file to open

No filename on audiotracks in timeline

Hey,

maybe I've been spoiled but I'm used to seeing filenames on my clips in my timeline as it helps me know what's up and gives me a reason to spend so much time properly naming things...

I just upgraded to premiere CC (it's been a big pain and was on hold with adobe for 2 hours), and upgraded my project file only to find; my video tracks still have files names on them on the top left but my audio is missing names and now I have no idea what's what in complicated 5.1 edits..

Anyone know how to restore this?

How do I collect and organize files into a new folder without breaking the links to my media?

I'm new to premiere pro, and learned that I probably should have figured out where to organize all of my files from the beginning, but in the post production phase, I have a bunch of audio and image files sitting all over my desktop, and I'm afraid that if I move them, I'll break the links to all of my media. Files I edited in CS6 Photoshop and Audition are of special concern (considering they get automatically routed to my desktop).

Does anyone know how I can collect all of the files and media that were imported into my project, and and archive them into a folder without breaking the project's links to the original media? Perhaps there's a way to copy all of the files and move them into that folder, so that when I move the originals, I'll still maintain all of the links in the copied version?

I tried using the project manager tool, but received an "unknown error message" each time I ran it.

Any organizational insight would be much appreciated!

Why is my sound different in my time line from my Source monitor

The sound volume becomes less or not existant for a number of frames in 2 clips in my video. When I drag my video clip from the source monitor  into my time line, the sound is fine in my source monitor.  However, the sound becomes much lower for a few frames or drops out completlely when I drag it over to the timeline. This happens for only a few frames in 2 clips. When I tried to correct it in audition, the sound clip plays fine in audtion, but is still at a lower/nonexistant volume in the timeline. The frequency distribution says it should be playing correctly, but it is not. Anyone experience this situation and know how to correct it?

Mercury Playback hack not working with CC

$

I was excited to hear that Adobe included many more cards in their official list this time around for CC, but was pretty disappointed to find my GTX 560Ti not among them. Suffice to say the old ini file hack is not working for CC. I can get it to work fine in CS6 however with one caveat: I cannot use any driver higher than 296.10. If I go higher than that for some reason it just doesn't work.

Anyone know why this may be and why the hack won't work with CC?

Premiere Pro sequence to Encore Settings

I attempted to transcode using Encore for a dvd I want to create (all work done in Premiere Pro 5.5). 12 hours later, the transcode is not complete. I want to try using Media encoder to do this.

In Premiere, I chose MPEG-2 DVD, however I am unsure of the other options.

I shot this video in HD on a canon xh-a1. My logic was telling me to choose "Match Source Attributes Highest Quality"

or "NTSC Progressive Widescreen High Quality" but I'm not sure I am right.

Can someone tell me if this would be correct?

Also do I set Multiplexer to DVD or leave it at None?

Sorry, rookie questions here

Setting up Disk Drives in the Computer I'm putting together

I've been editing on an slow and very old laptop for quite some time now. It's about time I upgrade. I'm putting together and was curious as to what I should do for my disk drives.

I was considering getting a 256gb SSD and two 1TB HDDs, and setting them up like this--

SSD: programs, OS

HDD1: Media, Proj files

HDD2: Exports, Media Cache, Previews, static page files

I am hearing of people using multiple drives to edit, but I'm not sure exactly how they set them up to be most efficient. Thoughts?

Thank you,

Josh

Is there a way to make the Markers panel work better with the Source panel?

$

My workflow is to first cut a multi-cam project (but it could be any long clip), then watch it all over again to make notes about what to keep and what to kick.  So after I'm done cutting the initial rough cut of the entire hour or two of footage, I'll set focus to the Markers panel and begin watching the entire clip from the beginning to make notes as markers within the clip

I'll play the clip back in the Source monitor and when something interesting happens, I'll type "M" on the keyboard.  This places a marker in the clip (or multi-cam clip in my case).  Without stopping the clip, I'll pick up my mouse and tap the Markers tab in the notes section for the last marker laid down.  I'll type a note (something like "S" for interesting "Shot" or "HUGS" or "DANCING" to indicate the main action occuring at this point in the clip, or "Mike:  Are we there, yet?" for a key dialog point).  Next, I'll move my mouse back to the Source panel (the video has not stopped this entire time) and give any gray area of the Source panel a tap just to activate it.  I'll watch for the next point of interest and repeat the process.  M to mark.  Move to the Markers panel.  Tap the last marker.  Type some notes.  Move back to the Source panel and tap to give the panel focus.  This works fairly well, but could be tuned, with just a few options, to make it more streamlined for this type of use.

What I'd like to be able to do is never leave the keyboard AND use minimal keyboard shortcuts.  A perfect workflow might be:

1. Start playing the clip in the Source panel.

2. Type "M" to drop a marker.  Focus would AUTOMATICALLY move to the notes section of that marker within the Markers panel, while the video continues to play on in the Source panel.

3. I type my notes into the Markers panel and hit Enter, or CTRL+Enter, which returns focus to the Source panel.

This would allow me to quickly build a list of markers and notes about a clip or sequence without ever stopping and without once touching my mouse (unless I get behind and need to backup).  Currently, the only time I really get behind is when clicking on a window and not realizing that focus was not given to that window, so that when I hit "M" again, for example, I don't actually create a new marker, but rather add the letter "M" to my most recent Marker note.

All of this seems a very common task for anyone who works in reality TV, or even event videography.  Who's with me?  Can this be done already?  If not, I'll submit a feature request.  How would you make this feature better?

Imported .MXF files playback with no Audio.

A client of mine has provided me several Gigs worth of footage in .MXF format. The video plays back great, but there is no audio imported with the clip. Should the .MXF contain an audio track, and Premiere isn't recognizing it? Or were they pulled off the card incorrectly. I'm not that familiar with this format and some of what I've read says "just throw it into Premiere", and other sources say there's a bug.

Using Pr CC.

Croping and resizing a video.

Example: I record a sequence with a green screen and a person talking. The recording is in 1920x1080 pixels. After the keying and editing the movie I would only output the person talking, let's say 700x1080.I had no problem to do it with FLV since there is a "Resize Video" option on the Media encoder. I haven't found that on other export settings, e.g. H264, mp4. There it let's me only do the given aspect ratio of 1.777777... or 1.33333...If I try to force it into another format by using the width/height entry, it comes an error "invalid frame size".

What I would like is a video that has a different aspect ratio than 16:9 or 4:3, a cropped version in the mp4 format but not using FLV.

Timeline not functioning.

Having problems getting functionality from my timeline (see pic). It must be an easy fix but how do I get there? Funny how these things pop up when you need to do something simple and timely. Murphy's Law I guess.

Side notes... I just installed CC a couple of weeks ago, application will not quit and dragging and dropping into the timeline does not work.
