^ "replace with clip - from source monitor, match frame" once worked, now doesn't...!

I have CS5 and I'm working with split screen templates.   In the future I might want to do differently but I edited everything I needed...now I need to place the edited clips in split screen templates. The templates each have their own sequence...it was made so that you can place elements from the project panel to the split screen template using "click/alt" to replace the footage.   I tried to "replace with clip - from source monitor, match frame". It worked at first just as alt/click would to replace footage but all of the sudden stopped working - that's now a grayed out option.  I have my source monitor clip selected...don't know what is going on to make it grayed out. I tried copy/paste the clip into the split screen template sequence but the option is still grayed out.  The only option that isn't grayed out is replace with clip/from bin.   1)  why is this? any solutions to get it working again?   2)  are there any other options to replace footage other than exporting the clips, importing into project, and then alt/clicking to replace footage?  I'd massively appreciate any insight you could give on this. Let me know as soon as you can.

Can't Capture In/Out Points using MXO2 in Premiere CS6

I've been attempting to capture SD footage from a Sony DSR-45 deck through the component inputs of my Matrox MXO2 LE as Apple ProRes.  I have deck control through the DV/HDV Firewire protocol and the capture window shuttles and plays tape normally, but if I attempt to capture using In/Out points or batch capture a clip, the video plays and the capture window says it is capturing, but goes past the out point without stopping.  If I escape out of the capture manually, the entire clip is lost.

The only way I can capture footage in this environment is to set deck control to "none" and manually punch in and out of the capture, very annoying and time consuming when you have lots of clips spread over many tapes.

I'm on a Mac Pro running OS 10.7.5 and Premiere Pro 6.0.2 and the latest Matrox drivers with support that configuration.

Anybody else run into this issue?

Easy way to sync left and right audio from different sources?

$

I primarily film single camera concerts using a Sony Z1 - when available I will take a sound board feed into channel 1, and a live auditorium feed from a mono mic into channel 2. Due to distance from the stage (and light being faster than sound, etc), the sound board feed is in sync with the video, and the auditorium feed is between 1 and 3 frames behind. Is there an easy way for me to take the entire bin of clips, and just move that auditorium feed back in sync with the video and the sound board feed, on the raw clips?

Previously I've been doing this by dropping the clips to the timeline, unlinking the tracks, manually sliding the sync on the auditorium feed back by the required number of frames, and linking everything back up again. I sync the audio visually using the waveform display (prior to Premiere CC).

I have two problems with this in Adobe Premiere CC. Firstly, the audio waveforms don't look like waveforms any more (and there doesn't seem to be any way to change the display back to the old way?). So now I'm syncing the auditorium feed by sound only, because I can't see anything in the display to sync from any more - both channels just look like random noise (almost).

Secondly, I do film a few multi camera events, and I'd obviously love to be able to use the new sync feature for multicam. But I know up front that the audio channels on all clips aren't in sync with the video (the camera fed from the sound board will be in sync, the camera taking the live feed will be out as per above). Surely there must be a way where I can correct the audio sync to the video on the raw clips first, before telling Adobe to sync the clips based on audio? Otherwise it is all going to be misaligned, and require manual sync adjustment anyway? Again, what I've done previously is set marker points on identical frames, sync'd in multi camera (so the video is now all good), and then manually adjusted the audio sync before editing.

Premiere Pro CS6 and CC don't recognize Apogee Audio Interface

$

I have a Apogee One audio interface installed on a 10.8.3 system for a Voice Over in Premiere Pro.

This interface works on Mac OS Level. It's shows the Apogee One input/output on the Mac Audio Settings

It works in every NLE FCP7/FCPX

It works in ProTools

It works in Adobe Audition CS6 and CC

But Premiere Pro fails to list the audio interface in the Audio Hardware list.

Premiere shows the system audio, blackmagic audio, but not the Apogee One.

Premiere CS6 and CC both have this issue.

Any idea what is going on here?

Audiounit/VST plugins not appearing in Premiere Pro CC

$

Hi

I recently the purchased the Slate Virtual Bus Compressor plugin bundle and was hoping to use it in Premiere Pro CC on OSX 10.8.4

Currently the plugins will not show at all in Premiere, but do show in Audition. I would have expected that they shared the same engine when it came to scanning and registering VST and Audiounit plugins.

All the other plugins by this company show and work with no problems in Premiere.

Is there any way to get Premiere to refresh the plugin list so that it 'sees' the new plugins?

I bought these plugins after I installed Premiere CC so maybe that has something to do with it?

Disappearing bins

Any ideas?  I had 8 - 10 bins established, with many clips in each bin.  I was working with the files in one bin yesterday, when I saved and closed out.  When I reopened Premiere Pro CS6 all the bins were gone.  All I saw were the files from the bin I was working from, but even that bin was gone.  What could possibly have happened?  I've just cleared out my media cache database, but obviously that didn't bring the bins back, or all the clips that were in them.  Before I go to all the work of recnstituting the bins, I'd like some sense of what happened.

Another concern is that I am capturing HDV from camera.  It's nice that I can log clips right to the appropriate bins, and all those bins are still there in the capture window.  But when I create new ones with the same name, I'm expecting trouble.

Thanks for any help.

Doug

Adobe Help Manager Updates – CS6 and CC – wrong versions.

Ok I have calmed down a bit now. Adobe Help Manger (see image below) informed me that there were updates to the PDF’s.

Help-Man.jpg

So I download two of them, AME and Premiere. I checked the Premiere PDF and saw that it referred to CC. I don't have CC, I use CS6 and that’s the one I want help for, not CC. Maybe Adobe doesn't think that this is a problem. But If I'm looking for help on a particular topic and I find it listed in the PDF, it could well be a feature that’s in CC and not in CS6. For example, Lumetri is in CC and not in CS6. Its no good me looking through a help file only to find that the help does not apply to the version I am using!

Fortunately (and also unfortunately) I did a complete system backup in April, so I located the old PDF’s on the backup. Unfortunately some of them are many months old and I know there have been a few recent updates to the CS6 PDF’s between April and now, before the PDF’s were updated with CC info.

From the image below,

Help-Man-PDFs.jpg

you can see that I actually downloaded 4 PDF’s that reference to CC (I added the _CC to the PDF’s listed here) so If anyone can tell me where I can download the latest CS6 versions of the PDF’s, I'd be very grateful.

Note to Adobe – Please make sure that when updates are sent out, that they actually correspond to the versions of software which are in use (or keep the old PDF versions safe somewhere.)

Premiere Pro CS6 trial download

Hi,

I can't seem to find the CS6 trial download for mac. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?

On the main adobe pages it seems like the only software available is the CC version but when I click on 'download' for this, it says my software(computer?) is no longer compatible with CC?? I am abit confused. I would ideally download the CS6 version as I have bought the workshop training manual and am familiar with this version.

If anyone could help that would be amazing.

Subclips inconsistent behavior; not always working correctly in Premiere Pro CC

I load a clip into the Source panel.  I set in and out points and then CTRL + U to create a subclip.  I have "Restrict Trim to subclip boundaries" turned off.  (Thank you Adobe, I've been waiting for "soft" subclips forEVER!)  The new subclip appears in my Project panel with the correct name and duration (as well as a white audio icon to indicate that it has not yet been used in my project).  Now, I drag that subclip into my sequence.  But the entire clip (a 5 minute interview), from which the subclip was derived, is loaded onto the timeline.

This has been working correctly for the last hour, and now it has stopped working.  It appears that for the moment, subclipping is dead to me.

Creating Template based on usage

Hello,

I am putting lyrics on a video and am having a difficult time with it.  I created a title and with the motion effect, resized and positioned it on the screen.  I did it this way because I am new to this and it works well.  From the first title, I make templates and paste the verses into them.  But I am having to resize and reposition each title which is time consuming.  Is there a better way to do this?

Can I downgrade a project file from CC to CS6 and get back to editing.

I started a project in Premiere Pro CC, in hopes that the program would do what I needed and that bugs would be at a minimum.  Perhaps I could even participate in these forums to help make Premiere better by offering up my beta testing insights to the community.  Now, after having paid my tithe in time to Adobe and having experienced several issues, a few crashes and a show-stopping issue (either a Multi-cam issue or an AVCHD spanning issue; I'm not sure), I'm ready to humble my appetite for the bleeding-edge technology and go back to CS6 so I can simply finish my project and pay the bills.

The new CC features are and/or will be AWESOME when the kinks are all worked out.  In the mean time, how can I revert my CC project file back to a CS6 project file?

I work with XDCAM EX footage and since I upgraded to CC all the footage now plays with glitches.  Sometimes it just shows green.  In addition to it the audio goes out of sync if you continue playing.

I did some research and other people are reporting the same issue but with XDCAM footage.

Adobe, please fix this bug.  I can't edit anything like this.  Also in the mean while let us, creative cloud members reinstall CS6.  I can't just sit for days waiting for a fix.

I'll try a doing a clean reinstall of everytjing in the computer but if issue this persists, by tomorrow I'll have to switch back to Final Cut X.

Adjustment Layer bugs

$

Hello,

I have a few problems using adjustment layers:

1. If footage beneath adjustment layer is scaled down, the effect of adjustment layer is also scaled down (see example)

(Sequence is PAL Widescreen, Footage - XDCAM EX 1080i scaled to 55%)

PAL_16x9_v0010.jpg

And it doesn't matter if I use 'sequence sized' or 'footage sized' Adjustment Layer.

The effect is always the same.

But if I stack two adjustment layers - effect of second one affects the whole frame.

Problem no. 2

I use "Levels" and "Gaussian or Fast Blur" on adjustment layer.

But if "Levels" are turned on, it cancels the effect of Blur.

Thanks in advance,

PPro CC Bug? - Audio Tracks intermittently not in Export

$

I have just acquired Creative Cloud primarily for Premiere Pro CC and After Effects. Though I like the snappiness of Premiere Pro CC (On Mac OS 10.8.4) , I've actually had to go back to Premiere Pro 5.5 because I can't get any real work done right now until some bugs are fixed.

The big bug is the lack of Mulitcam support - it's broken - don't waste your time using it until it's fixed.

The other bug I've just discovered is that some audio tracks which play back fine in the project don't export. I have a multiple track sequence and one track in particular, a .WAV file audio sometimes isn't in the exported file (a H.264 file - Vimeo HD preset).

It does sometimes appear in the export, just not every time, - it's random and therefore I can't rely Premiere Pro CC for my work, I've already wasted a couple of days on these bugs which should have never gotten in the released software.

Has anybody else seen this audio bug?

Thanks much!

Camtasia Studio & CC Premiere Pro

June 28, 2013

Since my PC laptop can't run Premiere Pro, I'm building a PC desktop which can.  In the meantime, I'll have to use Camtasia Studio 8.1.

Are there any cautions about creating CS files which will eventually be used in CC PP?  Thanks.
