Blackmagic export settings

I film with 5D MarkIII and Blackmagic video assist, plus a Tascam recorded sound. In Premiere Pro I synchronize the sound with the Blackmagic mov files. Would you help me with the right export settings (file-export-media) for the Blackmagic files? Thank you!

Problems converting Closed Captions to Open Captions in Premiere 2015.4

I was excited to learn about the support for Open Captions and the ability to convert Closed to Open, but when I import .scc or .srt files, and convert them to open captions, they are always 480x720 with no way to adjust or change the size. The low-resolution makes this feature un-usable. Anyone know of a work around or fix for this?

editing 360 in premier

I'm looking to capture 360 footage into Premeir but want to have the option to show in 2D to a viewing audience where I can manipulate where the focus will be; like typically edited programs.  Basically I'd like to edit the footage I will be shooting on a 360 camera, edit it as flat image where I can select parts of the scene I want to use and edit as I would normally would, for 2D.

Would it also be possible to use that 2D edited sequence after its done and have premier convert it back to a 360  viewing keeping the 2D edits?

Thanks

Title won't save

Haven't had any problems with title screens until now, trying to add a default still title and can edit the title fine. Only on exiting the title screen, the title completely disappears. The title still shows as existing in the assembly window but without any writing or updates on it. Any ideas?

Video resolution standardisation: I thought it was 1920x1080, oops!

Dear Premiere Pro Pros,

I'm a novice, but just sat through 3 days of editing a half hour video of a musical we staged.

Shot all clips with Sony A6000 16:9 1080i 17M setting.

When I entered Premiere Pro, the first thing I did was make Sequence -> Sequence Settings -> Editing mode: Custom, Video -> Framesize 1920:1080.

My default clip in the sequence editor had black bars at the side, I assumed this was due to window size. See following frame:

example 1.jpg

Thinking the final output would render a video without the black bars, I used scaling for alot of the clips, like the next frame:

example 2.jpg

Because I scaled, the black bars went away, but I assumed the final video would crop at the previous position of the black bar (meaning the white door on the right would be gone).

However, when I File -> Export -> Media -> Format: H.264, Preset: Match Source - Medium bitrate, Video 1920:1080, I ended up with a final video product that 1. had the black bars in non-scaled footage, and 2. had varying amounts of black bars depending on what I scaled, just like in the sequence editor.

My aim is for the final video to only show what is in the frame as per the 1st example, and for it to crop the scaled images accordingly.

How do I go about this?

Thanks!

Youtube uploading - duration getting cut short

I've also posted in Youtube forums, but a search over there seems to yield not much help from experts. The people here seem alot more experienced and friendly, hence turning to you guys for help

The common suggestion was the upload an MPEG4 file. I'm still having a 26 minute video cut short to a 14 minute video despite rendering in Premiere Pro as MP4.

Here are the things I've done to try to rectify:

1. MPEG

2. Authenticate account to extend max video length from 15mins to indefinite

3. Render in Premiere Pro with preset of Youtube 1080 HD - becomes a 3GB 26 min file that gets cut short by youtube to 14 min

4. Render in Premiere Pro with preset of match course high bitrate, becomes a 1GB 26 min file that gets cut short by youtube to 12 mins

This is the Mediainfo tree:

Hope someone can help me rectify, thanks!

digital transfer from 18.3 fps super 8 film

I had the frames of a 60's era Super 8 film running at 18.3 fps digitized (but the producer made each frame 5 seconds long).  I want to import them into Premiere CS5 at the correct duration 0.054665 seconds each.  Can I do that?  It seems that I can create frame durations of 0.04, 0.05 or 0.06 seconds only.  Is there something I'm missing?  Thanks.

Imported Footage No Audio - Premiere Pro 2017

I updated to Premiere Pro 2017 this morning. I went in to do some work on a project but when I imported some screen recorded footage that has audio and that appeared when imported into the last version.

Also a lot of the screen recorded or AE exported footage in the project was made offline since the update and when I re-link them it gives me the error that the audio doesn't match the audio in the original clip.

But it won't import the audio clip, which is crucial to my workflow.

Any suggestions on if this is a bug with Premiere or is there a setting I need to enable?

No audio in export when speed/duration set above 1500%?

I'm working on doing timelapse videos and I need to be able to greatly condense down hour long recordings down to a few minutes.  I noticed that I would take a 12-minute long GoPro video, go into the "Clip Speed/Duration" and set it to (for example) 1000% and I get audio exported fine.  If I change it to 2000% - I get no audio exported for that clip.  I understand that the audio's pitch is not maintained - I'm fine with that.

I've just run a bunch of tests using one clip, broken up into a bunch of small cuts, and each one is set to a different speed, and I see that the cut off is 1500%. (1500% works, 1501% does not).

I have tried changing a few export settings (YouTube 1080p30) and sequence settings (Canon XF MPEG2 1080p30), exporting directly and also queuing with AME, and I get the same results. I am using the latest Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 (Trial version - I'm testing my workflow before purchase).  I've also tried using "Maintain Audio Pitch" - but I can't hit the OK button above 1000%.

Is there anything I can try to get this working?  I have a feeling I'm going to end up having to edit my videos in two passes, which is not ideal.

Choppy playback through program monitor AFTER transitions. Pause/Resume fixes it.

As mentioned in the title, the issue I'm experiencing is that my program preview is smooth running at full quality. However, following a transition (cross-dissolve) playback becomes very choppy. I can temporarily fix it by pausing and resuming though, when the next transition comes, playback becomes choppy again.

Intel I7-6700

AMD RX480 Graphics Card

16GB Vengeance DDR4 Ram

Sabertooth Z170S Motherboard

EVGA Supernova 750 G2 Power Supply

Windows 10 Pro - 64-bit

- Mercury Playback is enabled

- Reducing the playback quality from Full to 1/4 does nothing

- CPU Usage is at 11% when my timeline is rolling, memory usage at about 40%

It's not anything groundbreaking, but it is annoying. When I have many clips and I want to preview them, I constantly have to pause/play after every transition to preview the clip properly.

Smart Volume not sent to Premiere Pro?

Hi,

It looks like that the automatic volume reduction of the background music ("Smart Volume" / "Smart Lautstärke") will not be applied to Premiere Clip projects sent and converted into Premiere Pro. I tried to send and convert two different Premiere Clip projects into Premiere Pro and for both the volume stays constant over the whole clip (no reduction on speech or sounds). I created the projects on iOS (iPhone 6s plus).

Is this a known problem?

Slow Pre-Render Times & Drive Setup

$

Hello,

I was wondering if Pre-Rendering a minute long 4k clip taking 1.5min is long or short? All of the clips I import to my timeline initially have a yellow bar on top and playback is choppy at 720p, formatted at P2 720p 60Hz DVCPROHD. I must Pre-Render the files (Sequence->Render Work Area) in order to get the green bar on top for the videos to be workable. Is it normal to have to Pre-Render every time for smooth playback? Can I improve playback and Pre-Render speeds by changing any of my settings?

The second issue I have is setting up my drives and folder destinations. I recently got a m.2 PCIe NVMe drive and I have my media files and Premiere project folder here. My OS and Premiere Pro CS6 is on another SSD. The media cache and preview files are on another 7200rpm HDD. Upon installing the m.2 SSD, I don't see much improvements in my work in Premiere. Is my setup correct for optimal editing speeds?

Are there other things I should change for faster rendering and smoother playback?

My Computer:

Intel I7-5820k

EVGA GTX 980Ti

Samsung 960 NVMe m.2 PCIe SSD (Media/Project Folder)

Samsung 850 EVO SSD (OS/Premiere Pro)

WD Black 1TB 7200RPM (Cache/Scrath Files)

Toshiba 5TB 7200RPM (Storage)

48GB DDR4 2400Hz RAM

Thanks!

Premiere Pro CC 2017 won't open

Since I updated to 2017 Premiere Pro. When I try to launch it from the Creative Cloud App it shows the initializing but once that's complete the actual program isn't showing on the screen. It shows up in task manager but that's it. There is no error message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Default transitions not working or erratic

New to Prem Pro and using the CC trial.  All I am trying to do is clean & smooth some camcorder video.  One item is simply applying the default transition to a scene change.  I place a cut at the scene change, then Ctrl-D to apply the default transition (crossfade).  Most of the time this does not work.  (It works great in the FREE Windows Movie Maker, so I don't believe it is a rendering or hardware issue.)  What am I missing or doing wrong?  I simply want to smooth out some abrupt scene changes which would seem to be a no-brainer, yet it won't work consistently.

Premiere Cutting Off Part of Animated Text

I'm making a sort of 'slot machine' scroll of the alphabet. It's for a 1920x1080 video, so the type is pretty large. Everything seemed to be going well; I was using the 'Distort>Transform' effect for movement so I can add a simple motion blur.

The problem I'm having is at the very end of the scroll, it's almost like a mask starts to cover my letters, cutting almost half of each away.

Here's a screen to help with my bad explanation. The scroll only goes through the letter 'M', fyi. I've missed something, but HOURS in, I simply can't get this to stop. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
