Video and audio tracks unlinking on their own?

$

Has anybody experienced this very bizarre problem with Premiere Pro CC 2015.0.2? (I'm using Mac OS X 10.10.5.)

Several times per day while working with Premiere Pro, the "linked selection" option randomly stops working. The only solution that I have found for this is to completely quit & relaunch Premiere Pro... but then the problem comes back a little while later.

The problem is this: Even though the "Linked Selection" option is selected for my timeline, if I click on a video clip, the linked audio clip DOES NOT automatically select with it! If I click on an audio clip, the linked video clip DOES NOT automatically select with it! Even if I hold down the option key, the video & audio clips will not select together. This happens for ALL THE CLIPS IN THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE! I am forced to quit & relaunch Premiere Pro, and then the problem is fixed... for a little while.

Please see the 2 screenshots below.

The 1st screenshot shows WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN when I select either a linked video clip or a linked audio clip in the timeline -- the 2 clips (audio + video) are selected together.

Screen_Shot_2015-10-10_at_9_39_08_AM.png

The 2nd screenshot shows WHAT OFTEN HAPPENS RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN. Premiere Pro will just randomly decide to select the clip that I click on -- without also selecting the linked audio or video clip! Once this starts happening, it happens for ALL THE CLIPS IN THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE! Then, I am forced to quit & relaunch Premiere Pro -- and the problem fixes itself.

Thoughts on how to prevent this problem from happening?

Audio Importing Issue ?

Hey all, have encountered an issue with the audio files I'm work with and can't seem to find a way to correct it.

For some files I'm importing, be mp4 video files with sound that I have previously worked on before or newly downloaded mp3 audio files, The audio is somehow not syncing right; it will show the clip has the correct time length (eg. 2:06) but when you open it up in the source and view the wave lengths the audio is compressed down into half of the timeframe, so all of the audio waves are from 0:00 to 1:03 and the remaining it is just silent.

Furthermore, the area where the audio track is playing audio sounds like it is missing files or something, it plays and is just skipping forward constantly over what is being said.

PremiereProAudioProblem.png

This is only applying to certain audio files, and I can't find a commonality between any of them to find a source of the problem, I downloaded 4-5 mp3s for background music in a video and only one of the audio files came through normal, the rest were encountering the problem above. And now it is happening to some mp4 video files that I have previously had for awhile.. So I'm not sure if this is an import issue with Premiere Pro ? Codec problem ? I can't seem to figure out a solution.

I have deleted and re downloaded files, re-started premiere and my computer, cleared cache files and adobe media cache files, I'm just kind of stuck on where to go on trying to fix this my searching on the internet has given me no luck thus far.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks !

Dead audio tracks generated after subclip created

I've had some issues relating to audio tracks in Premiere Pro CC. I'm currently editing a collection of shorts, shot on Red Epic at 5k, with a stereo guide track recorded to camera. After syncing the audio (4 channels), I removed the guide tracks then subclipped the vision and audio by selecting both, grouping them and then dragging them into a bin in the project window. Here's where it gets tricky.

When I place the new subclips on the timeline they suddenly have around 16 tracks of audio. So one track of sound, followed by 3-4 dead tracks with no sound, then 1 track of audio followed again by another 3-4 tracks of dead air (and so forth). At first I just saw this as a minor nuisance and continued to edit. Once finished I exported OMFs for the sound mixer who brought it into protools. What was a 16 track timeline in premiere has now become a 64 track project in pro tools. It seems again, each actual track of audio has had around 4 dead tracks added to it. Sure the math may be a little off but you get the gist. The issue is on Premiere's end as I've tried a couple of times now to resync the audio, create a subclip but every time it seems to generate a whole bunch of dead audio channels. Really can't figure this one out. Please help.

Wow. just installed the Premiere Pro update and all of my Lumetri settings on my clips have gone haywire.  What has changed that caused this?  The colour wheels have all reset to unity.  Not happy.  Have to start the whole grade again.

How to export an .mov with hardcoded captions

So I have a film, and I have a whole suite of caption files for it, scc, stl, srt, the works. I am just lloking for how I can bring that caption file into my project and export an .mov with the captions hardcoded on top of the image, as opposed to embedded. So far it seems to me that .scc is the best in terms of how it displays when previewing in premiere, so I bring that into my timeline in the 2nd video track. When I export media, I select "burn captions into video" but so far it does not appear to be doing that. This has really been a bear, any help in figuring it out would be tremendously appreciated.

edit: so far the best result i've had is exporting with the "teletext" option selected, which does give me burned in captions, but also displays the timecode for some reason.

Video footage imports without audio

Hello,

I am stumped. There could be a really simple answer to this problem and i really hope there is but i cannot seem to work it out at all. I have about 25% of my students trying to import their footage (shot on handycams straight to SD cards) into Premiere pro and the footage imports fine, however no audio is attached.

Before these students imported the footage i made sure that they copied the clips across from the SD card onto their computer hard drives so we knew where all the media is and that its always linked. The original clips play audio outside of PP on both SD card and hard drive versions of the clips.

Once imported the clips don't show any waveforms. I asked the students to import bars and tone and they could all hear this without any problems, this ruled out any headphone or playback problems. none of the audio channels are muted and the volume is turned up, hence hearing the bars and tone.

This seems to be isolated to the import. The only way that the students have found that works is plugging in their SD cards while they edit, even though their projects are linked to the footage on the hard drive rather than the SD cards. If you unplug the SD cards the audio disappears yet you dont get any media offline messages.

The students are working with .MOV files.

Please help as this is causing mass panic in the classroom as none of the students can edit audio and their deadline is approaching.

Thank you,

Charlie

Glitch with Project Window

This isn't a huge deal and most people probably don't use it, but I use it every day.

In the new version, I can not select all clips in the project window and remove all in and out points at once. I now have to select each clip individually if I want to do this.

Before I could highlight all clips and press Shift+Ctrl+I/O (I to remove ins and O to remove outs). If I try this only one clip has its ins and outs removed.

Lumetri Bug since Premiere 2017 - 11.1.0 (222)

Hello,

a lot of Clips in a project I color corrected in Premiere 2017 11.0.2 were completely  messed up when I updated to 11.1.0 (222). I downgraded again to finish that project.

Anybody aware of this problem? Or am I the 999th guy to find that out?

Can we expect to get this issue solved in the next version or is this a necessary change in some way to make Lumetri work with Lumetri AE? Or is there something else going on?

Rgds,

Gérard

Change timeline default start time?

So I know that I can navigate to the timeline's hamburger menu and select "Start Time..." and set my desired timeline start time. My problem is that every new timeline I open defaults to 00:58:00:00. It wasn't always like this for me, but I can't figure out what I must have done in the past to make it like this. I've searched all around the interface, then the forums, but to no avail. Anyone have an answer?

Premiere pro crashing and can not recover

Hi guys, I downloaded a trial of premiere pro a few days back and I love it, I've been editing fine and produced a couple of clips to play with. Yesterday some lag and freezing occurred while using and today the it's crashing after a few seconds and the clip play function now (or space bar) kills it. When viewing vid clips from the file browser style view when I select the wrong item is highlighted. On loading app a big orange message appears complaining about media in loads of languages, before this was the demo footage. I can esc out of this but on load a project it crashes.

I did get a strange message yesterday saying that my gfx card wasn't present. I've checked both my drivers for on cpu and gpu , both are fine.

I have a new Dell XPS 15, Quad core, 4k screen, 32 gig RAM, Nvidia1050 with no found hardware issues.

I have reinstalled it 4 times now and no joy. I'm literally about to buy this but if I can't get it working not a chance. Any ideas? I'm really confused to why this did work then died, there were updates N vidia and MS security yesterday ...

iPhone 6s 4k Footage in Premiere Pro CS6

Hi there,

I filmed a bunch of footage on my iPhone 6s using Filmic Pro and have no imported all the footage into Premiere. The problem is the quality of the footage is nowhere near what it should be, the footage is basically foggy and not at all high quality. My sequence settings were set for 1080p DSLR footage. Perhaps that is where I went wrong? Im not sure if I should be transcoding footage beforehand or not?

Thanks

Can a Premiere free trial open an existing project?

I've been tasked with finishing a project that was started in Premiere (not sure which exact version — working on getting that information), and I don't have access to Premiere.

No problem: the last guy exported an XML for me (I have access to FCPX). Well, except, it turns out that the translation issues (between the softwares) are just too many and too complicated (for this project), and I'd love to just finish the project in Premiere.

The problem with that is that I don't have access to the program and can't get it short of a free trial. Which is fine by me, because I have to finish it up in 24 days anyway.

However: I've been warned that I may not be able to open an existing project in a free trial. I've also been warned that it would need to be the exact same version of the software that the project was originally cut in. Or that there may be a watermark on the finished version.

Are any of these warnings true? Are there other warnings I should take into account?

How to make Premiere Pro CC 2017 use more resources

Good Evening All,

Can anyone suggest ways I can make Adobe Pr CC 2017 (latest version) use more resources so as to speed up rendering times please?

My machine has a gub of RAM, SSD for C: , HSSD for D: and loads of processor available yet its only using a small amount. Can this be increased or allocated better in Prem or Media Encoder or is it the GPU on my graphics card - an NVidia GT630 - that's my bottleneck please? See snip here mid-render of an 6 min HD film which took about 25 mins maybe to do.

Thanks in advance,

Luke !

Premiere pro bug - Silent Audio on the end of GH4 Clips

$

Every time I bring in 4k video from the Panasonic GH4. which spans clips, the audio in Premiere drops the audio from the end of a spanned clip. The clip itself, when viewed in VLC or other media players, does not contain the audio dropout, meaning this is obviously a bug inside premiere.

If I bring the audio into Audition, same thing.
