Cannot export in Quicktime (.mov) on CS6, is this normal?

$

Hi all.

I work in a production house where some of the computers have CC and some have CS6 (I know, don't ask). My computer is a CC computer and can export in MOV (I'm converting large live performance files filmed in Apple Prores 422 in SD = .mp4). My colleagues computer is a CS6 computer and Quicktime just isn't on the dropdown menu. Is this normal for CS6? It seems strange that it wouldn't support such a commonly used format.

If anyone could tell me whether this is normal or not, and if not, how to solve it, that'd be great.

Thanks all!

Premier Crashes on import or project load

I am having a trouble getting premier to work now. Not sure what caused it but I've tried several fixes from this forum.  Unchecking Intel/auto save, Completely uninstalled adobe creative cloud and all apps and reinstalled, Cache clears. etc...

I am able to open Premier but as soon as I load in a video or open a project the program then locks up and is forced to quit.

I use premier for my job and now getting a little worried.

"Create Title" option missing, Can't replace with clip from bin, Creative Cloud uninstalled itself

overview. PC, Windows 7 running.

i7, 12gb.

Running Premiere Pro 2017.1.1

11.1.1 (15) Build

So many things are going wrong! Creative cloud recently had an update as of 6/10/17 or so. When it installed the update it was uninstalled from my computer. I downloaded the reinstall and it just opened up the CC program and didn't install it. I search in the windows search and Creative Cloud is nowhere to be found.

Next, When I right click in the project window and go to "New Item" the "Title" Button is missing. I go to "File" > "New" > and "title" is missing.

Next, If I want to replace a clip in my sequence with one in my bin, I make sure I have the clip in the bin selected and I right click on the clip in the sequence. Sometimes "Replace with Clip" is greyed out, sometimes it's not, but even then the "from bin" button is greyed out.

I'm really frustrated. Fresh reinstall maybe? Virus on my computer? I'm so confused.

Thank you for your help.

How PP Handles Color Calibration - Profiles Ignored by PP on Calibrated Monitor

$

I've noticed that on our 10-bit calibrated monitor, PP 2017.1 completely ignores our system color profile. With either the program window or using transmit to view fullscreen, changing the monitor color profile in system preferences seems to do nothing. It's as if PP is bypassing the profile for video display. When we change profiles there are noticeable color shifts in the interface and bin thumbnails, but the actual video display from the timeline to either the program or via transmit remain unchanged.

When we took some screen shots and opened them in PS the color shifts were apparent and the screen color profile had been applied to the color settings of the capture by the system, it's just PP that seems to ignore the profile. Here's the set-up we're using:

X-rite i1Pro

Asus PA 249

Mac OSx 10.12.5

NVIDIA 980ti (latest cuda and Nvidia web driver)

Can someone fill me in on why this behavior happens or point us to some education on the matter? Any help would be appreciated.

Problem with VR settings - Cannot change stereoscopic to monoscopic

$

Hello

I've shot videos on Pixpro, stitched them and they import fine on to Premiere. I have enabled the VR settings and get the VR special viewing screen.

But when I go into VR settings - to change the Frame Layout from Stereoscopic to Monoscopic, it is all greyed out and I cannot change it.

Does anyone know why this is happening? And what impact being stereoscopic will have on my final video, which I want to export and put into a Samsung Gear VR?

Thanks for your help.

This is happening with the new May 2017 CC update.

I'm using the essential sound and looks like when i use it the program starts crashing and shuts down not even attempting to save it.

Also i used to send all my queue to media encoder and do Duplicates inside the same composite just to render different file formats and bit size now it wont even start the Queue i have to do a duplicate of the composition with only 1 queue inside instead of the multiple renders at the same time.

After Effects and Premiere Pro Dynamic Link problem

I've been using dynamic link between ae and pr. But today i have encountered a problem. When i edit a comp in ae, it doesn't refresh itself in pr pro.

I tried to import ae files again but nothing changed.

I cleaned all media cache files but nothing changed.

The only solution i found, save as whole ae project with new name then import to pr pro. But its frustrating. How can i solve this?

Import Error with MP4 Video File

I am a beginner. I am getting this error on import of all files I record in the Geforce Experience software:

Premiere Error.png

All the files play just fine in Windows. They are not corrupted. How do I import these files? Do I need to convert them into something else?

I have heard that this may relate to codecs, and that output from MediaInfo may be useful:

Opening an old Premiere Pro project file with CC2017

$

Hey all!

I am hoping someone out there might have a suggestion or two for some best practices when it comes to opening an old Premiere Pro project.

Here's the background of this particular issue:

I have four Premiere Pro 1 (aka Premiere 7.0) project files, one being the entire film (master file) and the other three being the three acts of the film. These were created on a PC in 2007. I am now trying to open this project 10 years later on a Mac with Premiere Pro CC2017.

I have tried a couple options to access the files; I got CS6.5 from CC and was unable to open the master file. I was equally unsuccessful in opening the other project files but found a work around by using the "import sequences" option in "import" from Act 1 and Act 3 -- these imports by the way came in as separate folders and were quite jumbled from how they were originally organized. I was not able to open Act 2 or import any sequences.

I borrowed my fiancée's 2012/2013 PC laptop and had a version of CS3 handy. With that I was actually able to open the project files without any problem! Of course, nothing is ever easy and the PC would not recognize the mpeg video files as "valid files" while my Mac had no issue. I digress; when I opened the project file in CS3 I thought that if I "save as" a new file, it would mark/encode it as a CS3 version rather than a PP1. I read somewhere that it was with CS3 that Adobe began to be cross compatible between PC and Mac. Suffice to say, when I tried to open the CS3 save on my Mac it did not work.

That about covers what I have tried so far. I have scoured these forums and the web and I have not found any answers that really would fit my situation. It is entirely possible that I overlooked some but I figured I would try and reach out to any knowledgable souls here for help.

I am happy to give any info needed if anyone thinks they might have a lead on this. Thanks so much in advance!

Media files deleted after 2017.1 upgrade

$

This may be a coincidence, but it's a mighty big one at that.  I upgraded this afternoon and opened my most recent project.  I went through the new features and then looked into the Preferences to see if there was anything new.  Arriving at the Media Cache tab I decided click on "clean unused"  Media Cache Database.  That's something I've done in previous versions.  Then I closed the open project and opened another I had finished last week.  Surprise, all media files were missing.  I checked the original file's directory.  All of the root and subfolders were intact.  However, when I looked in the clip folder all of the .MXF files were gone, leaving just the .xmp and .XML.  Every folder, in every project that was shot in AVCHD or XAVC (except for the one that was initially open) was missing the media files.  Not only that, but I found FCP 7 Capture scratch folders emptied except for the autosave vault.   There were other media files missing as well including mp4 exports, and some but not all .mov exports from every project.  Also missing are from a foder are .img files containing DVD images.  Unexplainably, some ProRes files recorded on Atomos were untouched, as well as other's that were transcodes from XAVC to ProRes.

I contacted Adobe Support via chat.  The agent told me that it was not possible for the "clean unused" function to cause all the deletions.  You can specify the media cache directory to be cleaned and in my case it was definitely not the root of the drive, nor any of the media folders.   He said that nobody has reported this issue so far.

All of my media is on a two drive RAID and that was the only drive effected. The good news is that all of my media is backed up, sometimes twice for the most important clients.  Of course restoring all that media will take hours.  Before I do that I'm running a file restoration program (that also takes hours).

Finally, the "clean unused" command may have nothing to do with it, but the fact that no media was deleted from the open project is suspicious.

Premiere Pro CC Crashes Frequently after Update & Audio Edit

I am working on Adobe Premiere Pro CC - just updated 5 days ago to the newest version.

I have an iMac 4Ghz Intel Core i7 w/16GB 1600 MhZ DDR3 memory & AMD Radeon R9 Graphics Card running on OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.

I am working on a 20 minute documentary. All the footage was shot on the same camera, with the same codec (not 4K, just HD). No intense graphics animations, but some PNG files exported from Illustrator.

Everything was going splendidly until I updated all of my CC applications 5 days ago and then did an audio edit using the new audio tools that are integrated into Premiere Pro.

Now, I can only perform 3 tasks (moving clips, lengthening clips, adding keyframes, adjusting levels) and the program just crashes.

I already uninstalled Premiere and reinstalled it. I already emptied the Media Cache in Premiere, Media Encoder and After Effects. I have 1 TB of space left on my external Glyph drive and 650 GB of space on my iMac's internal hard drive.

It is DRIVING ME CRAZY.

Please help.

Premiere Adobe CC 2017 Crashes at replace footage

Has anyone else experienced this Premiere crash when using the replace footage functionality from the bin. I can do two or three clips max., then the program (crashes).

The animation project we're working on requires doing this on multiple clips in a pp sequence. Prior to upgrading to 2017 there were zero crashes when doing this.

Premiere, Color Management and Rec709 to sRGB

$

Hi all!

After some extensive poking around on quite a few forums I'm still at a bit of a loss over this topic. My understanding is that Premiere (2017) displays and encodes all content (even through Encoder) in Rec709. My basic level question is there is really no way, through Premiere or Encoder to create an sRGB file? With most of us sending to web at least half of our deliverables I find it odd that there is no standardized way to tackle this? I might just be missing something so forgive me! I know Rec709 is close in theory with really only the gamma being different but I've had two clients now complain about contrast and I'm having to over compensate in Premiere to get the proper contrast (gamma) playing through on the web relative to what I'm seeing on my screens. My hope is to get a little discussion together and see what people are doing, and what Adobe might recommend. Thanks!

180 VR

I was thinking this would not be so difficult doing 180 VR with the Samsumg 360 camera. Imported into Premiere Pro and just doing a small text export. Then copied to my phone to test in a player. But the video does not load in the player on iphone. Other VR videos load on my phone.

Do I need a seperate program to inject the metadata after I edit in Premiere or does Adobe premiere inject the metadata?

Also Is there a program to easily test my VR videos once exported by premiere?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

GH5 10bit C4K files appear to not import correctly after 2017 Spring update.

So i just updated today to test GH5 10 bit files and see if they worked any better. Well..they don't crash..but no video is imported anymore only the audio. Tested in Premiere and Media Encoder. I have only tested 10bit C4k mp4 files. I'm not near my camera to test any other formats yet.

At least before today, I could create proxies if need be to work.

How to expand tools panel??

I recently upgraded to Premiere Pro CC2017, and I'm growing increasingly frustrated by the condensed tools panel with the missing/hidden buttons.

Screen Shot 2017-05-15 at 1.27.04 PM.png

I want to expand the tools panel so that I don't have to use keyboard shortcuts or click and hold to switch tools. I noticed that a lynda course instructor was using the CC2017 version with an expanded tool bar:

Please help! I can't find this anywhere in the preferences or panel settings!
