Don't open multiple projects at once: Premiere 2018

0
0

Just updated Premiere and I'm seeing a feature that I really disliked about FCP - the fact that you open multiple projects at the same time.  I do find this occasionally useful, but not on a daily basis and really it ends up being more confusing and I can't always tell when I've completely closed an old project unless I quit and restart Premiere.

Is there a setting so that I only open one project at a time like the way it used to be?

The way it used to be was perfect for me, but now it would require multiple steps to either start a new project or open a different project if I already have one open.

Conversion issues and Codec support issues for GH5 Anamorphic footage

0
0

Hi all,

For the last week i've been trying to create Proxies using the Cineform codec for windows or just straight convert the footage

I took 6K and 10K Anamorphic footage from the GH5 recently (3K and 5K times with 2X anamorphic lens).

H.264 ALL-I 4:2:2 10-bit @ 400Mbps

&&

H.265 LongGOP 10bit 4:2:0 @ 200Mbps

Trying to

Convert to Cineform Filmscan 1

or

DNxHR HQX 10-bit

in order to bring into the system to edit with and create proxies of the footage at smaller resolutions.

Unfortunately I've been having trouble on my 6 year old editing machine trying to get these files converted for use due to a few issues below:

I must point out that some of these files have internal frame rate corruption to some of the files due to the filming at the time.. unknown to me until today.. however the ones that did film successfully also still have issues. Both the cards have performed okay in the past so this was a shock that there were framerate issues on some of the files.

Reshoots are not an option and files are still readable so trying to make the best of it. The problems of conversion appear on every file however..

Problems:

1) Cineform doesn't seem to ever finish or it takes forever for converting.

2) DNxHR is putting on an arbitrary 16:9 aspect flag on the output when its not supposed to. It finishes fast within minutes and things look good but the aspect bug renders those files useless. Anamorphic footage all gets sent to 16:9 framing which is wrong (its suppose to be 8:3 - 6698x2496 res).

Since i'm on PC I can't try Prores.. Is there any other codec i could try using that won't degrade the quality and produce the correct aspect ratio in the file?

Has anyone else had experience with the GH5's anamorphic footage in Premiere Pro 2018 (v12)

Thanks

ProRes on PC - opening & creating without Quicktime or MediaReactor addon

How is this done please?

Urgently needed, and Apple have shafted us with Quicktime so the (very expensive) Media Reactor workstation option is no longer a valid one.

Any suggestions would be most helpful

The best substitute for Apple Prores 422?

This is my second question relating to this topic.  I am just converting to a PC from a Mac and I am looking for the best codec to replace the Apple Prores 422 which is not available on the PC platform through Adobe Premiere or Media Encoder.  I am dismissing third party software claiming to be able to provide Prores 422 on the PC as I don't think it is a viable option.

The problem seems to be a turf war between Apple and Microsoft and Apple is not playing nice with PC users and has the Prores 422 under strict copyright - at least, that is my understanding of the problem and I am open to be corrected on this if I need to be?

In searching the internet the GoPro cineform 10 bit seems to be the one recommended by a lot of the pros using the PC platform for Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder.

I have set up a preset for this going through the Quicktime option in Media Encoder.  I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions for improvement on this choice?

Here are two images of my preset choices in Media Encoder - at first blush it seems to work find and seems as good as the Prores 422.  Please feel free to comment on my choices and make any suggestions for improvements?

Variable frame rate mode (under MPEG source settings) greyed out

Hello,

I am trying to change my video configuration from "Variable frame rate" to "Constant frame rate" using Premiere pro version 12.1.2 (Build 69).

According to adobe help page, VFR to CFR should have been possible from version 12.0.1.

I am able to right click on the clip

----> Source Settings ---> MPEG source settings ----> Variable frame rate mode.

However here the mode is greyed out with "Not Applicable" field.

All my videos are in mp4 format.

Can you please suggest on how to change VFR to CFR using premiere pro. I have spent lot of time troubleshooting this, there is no concrete answer in any of the forums nor there is any steps/tutorial from Adobe. Can you please help!

Thanks,

Priyanka

Premiere Pro crashes when playing through timeline

I'm currently editing 8K 360 video in a timeline in Premiere, and I've been working in this project file for the past several months. But for the past couple weeks, every time I open Premiere and try to play through the timeline, Premiere will freeze up and then crash or give me the "send bug report" pop-up, then close the program without letting me save. I'm editing off of proxies for all of my media, using the CUDA engine to render, and am working in Premiere Pro CC Ver. 13.0. This is a big project file, currently at 3,650KB, and I'm accessing all my project files, media, proxies, and other materials off of a single external hard drive going through a USB 3.0 port on my computer.

Other actions that have also been causing Premiere to freeze:

+Opening the Legacy Title editor at any time

+Toggling between VR view and Equirectangular view

I've tried opening this project on other computers, but the sheer size of the project and its 8K video files takes too long to be opened on any computer other than the one I'm currently working on. I've also tried opening other projects on the same computer, and while opening the legacy title editor the program still freezes. My computer specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel Xeon Gold 6134 CPU @ 3.20GHz and 3.19GHz (2 processors)

RAM: 128GB

GPU: Nvidia Quadro P5000

Originally, I thought the issue might have been related to the Media Cache, so I moved my Media Cache Database and all cache files to a local 1TB SSD installed inside the computer. However, the crash problems still persist and there's 600GB of space left on the drive. Next, I tried reinstalling Premiere Pro, but that didn't solve the issue. Other typical troubleshooting solutions like copying the project file, starting a new sequence in the project file, and clearing my Media Cache have not helped. I'm considering installing two new SSDs into the computer and transferring all project files to one and all media to the other and working off of those, but this will take some time and I'm not positive this will solve the issue either.

Does anyone have any advice? Premiere freezes less than every five minutes, which has completely halted my production. Please and thank you!

Why Does Copy And Paste In Premiere Pro perform so poorly?

Please explain why you can't copy and paste footage (audio and/or video) into a chosen track on a sequence? It almost always pastes into a track with footage already there overlapping footage. It can't paste into a new track??? I thought this is simple logic.

Premiere Pro CC 2019 is putting a weird grainy, blue outline around my .mov files that are from After Effects

I just got a new computer and when I installed Adobe CC onto it, it updated to the 2019 versions. That's fine, but now when I open up files from my old projects there is this gross blue outline around any .mov animation that I made in After Effects. I usually only render alpha channels in AE and then can move the animated objects around the Premiere file. Also whenever I have one of those animations fade in or so any sort of movement instead of fading normally a blue solid of the fade appears and then it turns into the color its supposed to. I've attached a few images as an example of what I'm talking about. You can see the fading issue in the gif I posted. The house on the right is supposed to fade in after the outline is done to fill the color, but instead, it just pops in blue then turns white. Anyone else having this problem or know what is going on? Thanks!

It may be a little tricky to see at first but if you zoom in or look at the words which I typed in Premiere and are not exported then imported in there is a clear difference in the outline of these images. Mainly that the words don't have them and the animations do and it looks terrible.

Draw a own motion path

Hi,

is it possible to draw a motion path with a pen tool inside Premiere Pro? I mean if I want a object to move along a path that I have drawn from scratch. I know that it is possible to edit a allready excisting path by pull in the bezier curve. What I am looking for is a way to do it like in Animate for instance. Any ideas, is it possible?

Extremely Slow Exports with Premiere 2019

Exporting a video is at least an order of magnitude slower with PP 2019 than it was in PP 2018. I wasted two and a half hours this evening in a chat session with an Adobe service rep. This program is unusable. Major step backwards for Adobe. This problem needs to be addressed ASAP.

How do I crop video in Premiere CC ?

0
0

A version of this question has been asked many times and I have read most of them - they do not answer my question.

I found the crop tool.

I drew a 4-point shape (although I am baffled why it does not 'snap square' when you hold shift).

In Photoshop you make that selection and 'Crop'.

I'm looking at an array of options in Premiere CC and cannot see the 'Delete everything that is not selected'button.

Help!

I really hate it when you stay loyal to a company/range of products - but the process for doing something in 2 packages (that have been around for many. many years) has such a different 'psychology'.

Am I really the only person who wants to 'Draw a rectangle around something, click crop, and you're only left with the selected area' ?

Any thoughts/feedback much appreciated!

Proxies Made in Premiere Pro CC 2018 Aren't Connecting Properly

0

I work with a proxy workflow regularly and generally have no issue. Yesterday, I upgraded to CC 2018. I ingested media into my project, organized it, spot logged it and then created proxies overnight by right clicking the media > proxy > create proxies > Format: Quicktime > Preset: 1280x720 Apple Pro Res 422 (Proxy). I set the destination to a proxy folder on the media drive.

This morning I noticed that the proxies did not attach themselves so I manually attached them by right clicking the clip > proxy > attach proxies and navigated to the folder I had created. Premiere indicated that all the proxies attached via the metadata display. However, playback on the footage was just as laggy as when the footage was in it's native format (footage was shot with a Sony FS7 and is .MXF). I troubleshooted for a few hours and tried I restarting Premiere, restarting my computer, transferring the media and proxies to a different drive, reconnecting the media and the proxies manually. Each time Premiere says the proxies are attached, but, no matter what I do the proxies do not actually attach. When I "reveal the clip in finder" it takes me to the original media.

I inherited this project from another editor who used the same workflow. When I reveal in finder the media that was already in the project, which Premiere says has attached proxies, the media is revealed in the proper proxy folder and plays back in Premiere without issue.

Is anyone else having trouble with proxies being read incorrectly by Premiere? Is the solution to remake the proxies (I hope not).

I am running a mid 2015 15" Macbook Pro - OS 10.12.6 and CC 2018

All suggestions and insights are welcome.

Every time I upload a video to YouTube the quality looks horrible.

No matter what I do videos I upload look really bad and “artifacty“ i know it’s not artifacts but that’s the best way I can describe it.

Im uploading at 1080p 60fps (Same as source) the export looks perfect but as soon it’s uploaded and processed it looks bad especially fine details. Even with ludicrously high bitrate (200) so high it’s completely unnecessary.

Its not an internet issue since videos I watch look great.

I know it’s a YouTube compression thing but it makes no sense to me why its so awful

Premiere hanging or crashing on export

Hi, Premiere keeps hanging or crashing at around 77% every time I attempt to export a ~2:00 minute video. I tried messing with the settings, rendering and replacing what I could, devoting as much free RAM as the program will let me, changing the export settings a few times, updating graphics card drivers, updating Premiere, and still get the same result. Any thoughts on what the issue might be or ways of resolving it? Thank you.

Not able to drag anything anywhere at all

Hello and thank you for reading my question

Here is the problem:

I'm doing a family project which I'm editing in premiere pro. Yesterday I was using premiere pro with no problems at all. Today I opened the same project and everything looks normal but when I tried to drag new clips to the timeline, nothing happens!. I thought that the clips were not in the correct format but that's not the problem. I tried to re-drag the transition clips that I was using before having this problem and I can't drag them anymore. It doesn't matter what I try to drag, I even created a small black video from premiere pro itself just to see if my files were bad but not even that is being able to drag.

Can anybody help me with this problem?

P.S. As I was typing this question, I also realize that the same symptom is happening in AE! I can't drag anything at all to the compositions. (I know that this last thing should be in another section, but just to let you know)

Help please!

Is the only way to install the premiere pro cc 2019 13.0 is to upgrade Windows 10 to version 1703 or the latest? or is there another way to bypass this?

A low-level exception occurred in: lvcod64.dll (GetAVICodecs)

After upgrading to the 2019 version of Premiere Pro CC I'm getting this error when opening any project. I can edit the project but I don't know if any work that I'll be doing will be compromised by this error. I need a position about this problem to continue working in any project in the 2019 version.lvcod.jpg

Premiere Pro CC Update Buggy- Delaying My Projects On A Massive Scale

0

I'm experiencing such a massive amount of bugs with the new Adobe 2019 Premiere Pro CC update. I'm a professional film editor in NYC, and this update has seriously delayed my work. I'm sure people on here can agree?

What are people's work-arounds? Or should I just delete this program altogether? Unfortunately I've started using this with some bigger projects, so now have to wait it out and start fresh with other projects with 2018 or something.

But seriously, this new update is so buggy, I'm constantly finding workarounds and closing out almost every time I use the program. And i shouldn't be because i'm working on a 64gb ram iMac.

I've been unfortunately faced with countless bugs: From the "find" button not working, to sound displaying wave forms and suddenly not playing sound- to alpha channel renders not registering with the program and creating weird blue backgrounds (and the dynamic link not working so rendering from After Effects and dragging in now clip by clip)? The resolve I've been finding is seriously closing out of Premiere Pro and reopening it again and dragging in the renders again and again, and i can't afford to constantly keep doing this.

How do you go from a solid working program to something that's such a disaster @adobe lol.  I really regret updating from 2018 (that worked pretty well in my option and didn't need to change much) to the 2019 program.
