Shadow/Highlight flickering

When I use the shadow/highlight effect, my image flickers.  I'm using manual settings.  Someone suggested changing black clip to 0%, but that did not help.  Is there another way to use this effect without flicker?

Thanks,

JB

Anyone else expect original capture date to be retained when transcoding?

BWF audio and metadata propigation to the PPro6 timeline

$

When dropping a BWF file with metadata onto the PPro6 timeline It correctly displays the name of the clip from the metadata generated by the sound recorder (SD664) e.g. S04T02 for Scene 4 take 2 but not the track name  e.g. [lav2 Louis]. Instead, it displays [A1] [A2] etc. (for polyphonic files, understandable) but it doesn't rename the timeline track names. Yes, I know each track will have to be dedicated to only one actor/track name on the timeline. Even though I can see the track names (though not  in an organized manner, all of the data is simply truncated under the "description" heading) in the  metadata pane of the sound clip in PP6. What am I doing wrong? How do I get PPro6 to display [Lav1 Louis]  instead of [A1]? Spending the extra time to manually rename each track name for each clip on the timeline is a non starter.

Here is the metadata:

sSPEED=029.970-ND

sTAKE=01

sUBITS=$06132013

sSWVER=1.04.09

sSCENE=05

sFILENAME=05T01.WAV

sTAPE=130613

sCIRCLED=FALSE

sTRK1=MixL

sTRK2=MixR

sTRK4=Lav2 Louis

sTRK8=Boom1 Crowd

sNOTE=Windy

Thanks for any help.

FLV is considerable smaller than m2ts but I wonder if it is less taxing on the system.

Is it possible to create subtitles with black box background

$

Hi All

I have a client who has requested subtitles (which we are embedding, not proper subtitles)

created in this fashion with a black background behind all the text.

http://captionmax.com/structure/img/blog/subtitles_black_box.jpg

Short of creating black rectangles for every line of text throughout the whole program (which would be massively time consuming)

is there any possible way of doing this in Premiere Titler?

Have been tring to find a solution to this for hours now with no luck.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Premier NOT sharp, After Effects very sharp.

I have this problem with Premiere Pro. I can't export and have SHARP video. I have tried many combinations, H264, AVI, Quicktime, etc. and all the Max settings with no avail, in particualr the dull Text.

When I use After Effects everything is crisp and sharp. I use Vegas Pro 12 with the same clip and it Renders very Sharp.

This is Windows 8, 12 GB memory. Cuda 670 Nvidea Card. I7 Quad Core.

Any pointers ? or reading material.

Much appreciated.

One sequence not allowing audio mixer recording, another recording at wrong rate

$

I'm betting this is a really simple issue but it's unfortunately a difficult one to google search due to the keywords being common in other big issues. I use the Audio Mixer to record audio for my sequences alongside the video.

However, in one sequence I use frequently, it simply won't save any audio after recording. In other words, selecting a track, clicking record, and clicking play, will all function as normal (with the timeline moving forward as normal), but no audio file is ever saved or put onto the timeline.

In a second sequence, I can record fine, but the final audio comes out at the wrong rate and I usually need to do a rate stretch adjustment of about ~108%. I can manually fix every recording but, like the first issue, it's getting to be a huge hassle in the workflow.

I feel like the solution to both of these problems are simple, and were probably me clicking somewhere on accident one day, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to solve either of them. Any help is appreciated!

Multicam Sequence Error

I have a 3-camera multicam sequence that is 26 minutes long. I've gone through and edited the sequence, cutting between cameras. But for some reason when I close my session and reopen, the sequence changes at 15:48. What happens is that camera 2 and 3 are dropped, and camera one becomes a freeze frame. The first part of the sequence is fine, but it just changes at 15:48 every time.

I can't figure out why this is happening, and I've already re-cut the sequence twice only to have the same problem. Anyone else experienced this before?

Premiere CC Chapter markers not frame accurate in Encore CS6

$

So I just made a video with 30 chapter markers at distinct cuts in the timeline using Premiere CC and exported that to an MPEG-2 video as I would in CS6. After importing the MPEG-2 file into Encore CS6 and making a New Timeline the Chapter Markers do show up but they are now all 3-15 frames early per chapter which also means none of the chapter thumbnails are going to be accurate. It's easy to check this with both programs just compare the timecode number at each chapter point in the timeline of Premiere CC then Encore CS6.

Also noticed that the Add Chapter Marker tool that was in the Premiere CS6 timeline is missing in CC, just the Add Marker tool is there now. Couldn't find a way to add the Add Chapter Marker tool to the timeline group of tools.

Adobe Premiere Pro - Crashing with OpenCL Hardware Acceleration on Export

$

Hey everybody,

One of the major reasons I decided to buckle down and pay for PPCC was the OpenCL Hardware acceleration with AMD cards. I run two AMD Radeon 7870s in Crossfire right now, and I immediately noticed a huge difference in performance when editing. When it came time to export my video, though, Premiere Pro would crash after rendering around 2% of the full video. I've tried both with and without Crossfire activated but using OpenCL with Hardware acceleration crashed my export no matter what. As soon as I turned it back to regular Mercury Playback (software only), the project rendered just fine.

I currently have the lastest AMD drivers and have had no other issues with my card, and I also gave PPCC the latest update as well. Any idea why this might be happening? I wouldn't be surprised if I need to wait for a latest AMD driver in order to get things to work with the brand new CC apps, but I figured I'd farm my question out here just in case. I'm running on Windows 8 64 bit.

Losing quality with images when I import them into Premiere cs5

$

I am creating a video using a series of stills. I originally imported them as png's. I noticed that the images where degraded when they appeared in the timeline, and thought they would come out clear and crisp when I exported. But they remained the same quality in the export as they did in the timeline. I tried replacing the png's with other files and nothing seemed to import nicely, except when I converted the png's to PSD and imported the PSD's. The PSD's looked perfect in the timeline, until I rendered the timeline. And then immediately they degraded. I tried exporting just to see if it would produce a better result and it did not. I also noticed that the titles are degraded in the export as well.

I've gone through a bunch of forums and haven't seen an answer to my issue. My guess at this point is that it was something to do with interlacing or "fields", but I honestly don't know jack about that stuff. Should I be working in a different sequence preset? If so, which would be best for importing PNG's, or PSD's (RGB) as stills?

The goal here is to fix my current sequence and improve the quality of the stills in it. I would prefer not starting over

I honestly don't know what the right export setting is, i'm just looking for something that produces a high def result. I know that my project framerate is 30 fps, so it should probably be exported for 30 fps.

Any help on this would be great. I've gone pretty much to the far corners of the internet and have found nothing of real help.

First render test in CC, Very Slow

So, I made a test with a 1:30 min. sequence.

In CS6 the export time is 00:03:52

In CC: 27:43!!!!!

Exactly the same sequence, same export settings, both via Media Encoder CS6 & CC respectly.

What could be the problem?

Subtitles and Closed Captions [without Encore]

$

I have just seen an announcement which said that Encore CS6 is the last version of the application, can someone tell me how we going to insert interactive subtitles and closed captions in our content once Encore becomes incompatible with future operating systems. Is this going to be achieved in PrPro? Adobe said they will not develop the app for future operating systems on the other hand they say CS6 will be updated to be compatible with future operating systems???

So which is which here???? Can someone shed some light into the reality of these confusing statements.

I'm trying to convert stereo tracks in PProCC to dual mono, using AuditionCC. In PPro, I right click on the desired clip, choose "Audio Channels...", and the dialog comes up, but...the settings area is greyed out, so I can make no changes. Any clues?

PPro CC XDCAM EX 1080i

I have upgraded from 6 to CC and am using the same XDCAMEX 108050i (upper f) footage. I have setup the exact same sequence settings as in PPro CS6, however after importing the footage into the bin and starting a new timeline the footage has a yellow bar on the timeline indication it is not native. When I right click the footage in the bin and select properties it comes up with

This is incorrect as when i do the same in PPro CS6 it says it is in XDCAMEX format in the explanation.

and when i lay the footage in my timeline (in CS6) there is no yellow bar. In CC the playback is not realtime which is very frustrating because in CS6 it payed back flawellesly all the time.

Has anyone had the same problems? It seems as though CC is not interpreting the footage correctly in creating a native timeline.

Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

$

I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.

How do I keep the original size after exportation of videos?

time-remapping nesting and zooms

So I've got a clip that I want to slow down and zoom Its a 1080p clip on a 720 timeline.

If i was just zooming I'd setup the keyframes and zoom out.  But you cant zoom and time-remap, and if you do the time remapping first and then nest, the zoom wont work, and if you do it the other way round you have to try to imagine what your zoom will look like with the time-remapping applied.

Is there another way?
