How to zoom without increasing scale window?

$

I have about 10 images on the screen, all set in place where I want them to be. Obviously, if i use the scale or position functions under the motion effects tab, i am able to move the images around which effectively can increase the sizes and move the images from side to side etc. So where I am stuck is, that I am now am trying to somehow lock these images that I have on screen, but still being able to zoom or position the images within their current placings without the image windows or borders moving at all. So is this possible to lock or freeze the images, but still be able to play with the scale inside the image windows?

Can't Open CC project file in CS6

I edited my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, but I can't open the CC project file in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. The message says 'The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened.' Is there a way to convert the project so that it works for CS6?

Where is the Multicam Monitor in Premiere Pro CC?

$

Trying to work on a project to get a two camera seminar edit done and I can't seem to find the Multicam monitor?  I've manually synced up the two files in one sequence and then created another and enabled sequence one as a multicam, just like normal.  I even double clicked the multicam sequence to bring it up in the monitor and both cameras are displayed, but when I click on the individual cams as the clips are playing (either in the monitor or in the timeline) nothing happens with the sequence.  No edits are made in the timeline.  I realize there isn't a record type button in the window that's displaying both cams and the usual red highlight from the multicam monitor remains yellow around the clips.  Is there something I am just missing, how can I get the "edits" I'm making in the monitor to actually become edits on the timeline so I don't have to go through and do this manually.  (It's a two hour seminar, just trying to save some time here)

Thanks!

How do I download Premiere CS6 with Encore?

I am putting together a wedding video and updated all my apps including Premiere to CC and uninstalled Encore, thinking there was a CC version. Well, I need to burn this video to a DVD with a cool menu and had one already created in Encore but can't use it since it's installed. I saw in another forum message that you have to redownload the entire Premiere CS6 family, but when I signed into my Adobe ID at CreativeCloud.com, found Premiere CS6, then selected Download Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, it opened the old Creative Cloud Download Manager, but Premiere CS6 never appeared.

I thought this was because I still had Premiere CS6 installed, so I uninstalled it, thinking it would now work. I restarted my Macbook Pro and when I select the download, it still opens the Download Manager and Premiere CS6 never ever comes up. How can I get Premiere CS6 back on my computer. I need it to finish this video and I'm on a deadline.

Thanks.

16 hours to transcode 14.8Gb (of 62Gb) from m2ts > flv. Cost for min wage intern: $512.00. Normal?

Just finished transcoding some m2ts files to flv and it took about an hour per gig. I have a total of 62Gb to transcode. Based on an 8 hour day thats over 7 days work. Paying an intern CA minimum wage with no overtime is about $512.00 for supervising the transcoding process (Media Encoder crashes when so many files are queued up).

I'm happy that the converted clips are about a third the size of the original but it is taking a long time.

A clip that is 1:28 minutes in length is taking 4:38 minutes to transcode.

Is this about normal?

OS Question

Hello,

I downloaded PPCC on my Win 7 laptop am I am really liking all of the improvements. My workstation is Vista 64. I just read the tech specs on PPCC and see that its minimum requirements for Windows is either Win 7 or Win 8.

I am running PPCS6 on Vista 64 and it runs beautifully.

Will PPCC run on Vista 64 as well or has something be changed "under the hood" that will only allow it to run on 7 or 8?

I know an upgrade to 7 or 8 is necessary at some point but I just can't find the ambition to do so at the moment when my Vista OS and current apps run like butter.

How to restore original Premiere Pro CC interface and how to drag video to timeline panel?

The trial version I downloaded does not have the video and audio tracks on the timeline panel. I tried playing around to find them but this is what happened instead.

Print screen.png

May I know how to restore the original interface?

Also, how do I drag videos to the timeline panel when it does not have any audio or video track line that I can work with, unlike the CS6 version I was using?

Thank you.

Premiere CC: Work Area Bar

In CS6 inside the timeline,  there is a solid gray bar with gold tabs at each end under the timecode which establishes the work area, which is useful if you want to determine the length of a section of the timeline or if you want to export a particular area of your sequence.   On Prem CC, there is a transparent gray bar over the timecode area with a gold tab just on the left side.  I can't find a way to reach the right side tab, and in fact don't know if there is a right side tab.  Is this the new normal or are my settings wrong?   Is there another way to establish the work area?

Warp stabilizer and speed can't be used in same clip. explain error message please.

Learning - from how to capture to how to do basic edits.

Trying to use warp stabilizer on some hand-held footage and got the red "NO" message.

Can I still do this, or did I do my edits in the wrong order as in I should maybe have used warp stabilizer first or something.

Multicam quirks in Premiere CC

$

Anyone else seeing inconsistent and quirky behavior with new multicam in Premiere CC?

For example, my normal workflow is to have the multicam/program window on my right hand monitor and the timeline open in my left monitor. I drag the playhead in the timeline through the project, watch what the various camera shots are, and cut to cameras as needed via a ctrl+click, adding transitions when necessary. In CS6 this worked very well.

However in CC a couple of issues have come up that makes me wish for CS6, unless someone has some suggestions. All video is running from an adequately speedy external RAID. Usually working with Canon XF video and AVCHD clips.

  1. The new "combined" program and multicam view doesn't pan out. I have an external SDI monitor and under CS6 I could see the final video, effects, transitions and everything on the external monitor. Now with CC when I'm in "multicam mode" I CANNOT see any effects, transitions, etc., just the raw cuts between camera views. To see effects and such I have to temporarily drop to "non-multicam" view (via button or shift+0) and then switch back. Probably someone is going to say "you shouldn't do it this way, you should first go through and choose your camera shots then go back through and add effects" but I don't care...I use to be able to work this way in CS6, why can't we in CC? Maybe I'm missing something.
  2. There are a lot of playhead and multicam edit quirks introduced, possibly as a results of the new combined multicam window. When dragging the playhead in the timeline frequently I'll stop dragging, tap spacebar to hit play, and the playhead will jump back in time to some spot 10-20 seconds back. I can't explain this nor does it seem to happen in any reproducible way. To make matters worse if I'm dragging the playhead and find a spot I need to switch cameras I'll stop dragging, select the camera, only to cringe and find that the playhead jumped back 10 seconds and now my camera edit is in the wrong place! I tried to mitigate this by dragging the playhead in the program/mutlicam window (instead of the timeline window), but I don't like this because the audio waveform isn't right there in my line of sight anymore and also it introduced new gremlins. Quite often I would ctrl+click a camera and the yellow "select" rectangle would remain on the previous camera. But in my timeline and external monitor the new camera is showing! Erk, this little bugs are very annoying.
    1. EDIT: After more testing this bug is easily reproducible. WIth a multicam sequence drag the playhead in the timeline window far down in to the sequence and immediately hit spacebar, drag back near the beginning and hit play. Doing this repeatedly will eventually cause the playhead "jump" back to a previous position. It does not seem to happen when dragging the playhead in the multicam window. It does not seem to happen when in non-multicam mode and dragging the timeline playhead. So end result: the "jump" bug happens when in multicam mode and dragging the timeline playhead.
  3. When switching between sequences very frequently the newly selected sequence will be marked "red" under the workbar and nothing will show on the external monitor. But if I quickly switch between multicam and non-multicam and back to multicam the red will dissappear and everything is normal.

Any tips would be appreciated. I'm not quite ready to dump CC since there are lots of appreciated performance improvements (spanned AVCHD clips are rock solid so far...fingers crossed).

.AVI glitches after import

$

First I should mention that everything I say in this post is something I did with only the most vague understanding of what I'm doing.

I imported an .AVI, which plays fine everywhere else, and in the playback in Premiere and after exporting the video glitches out to where the frames will get mixed up with some lasting a full second overlayed over other frames. I'm sure there's a word for that. The audio is flawless, though.

So I did some Googling around and found that it might be due to a missing codec, and after downloading G Spot and analyzing the file it said that I was missing the Microsoft Video 1 codec required for it. After more Googling and installing every codec pack that wasn't filled with malware, I came across the ffdshow decoder, which I then ran and used to enable the aforementioned codec in both the video decoder and the VFW configuration. I thought that would surely take care of it and booted up Premiere again, where after another import the video was still glitching.

Here's what G Spot and ffdshow say right now-

G.PNG

ff.PNG

And again, I know what these things mean on the most superficial level so if I have to do anything fancier than check a box I could probably use the talking-to-an-old-person version.

And if this question has already been answered somewhere I haven't come across it after an hour and probably a hundred tabs of searching.

Nvidia problem?

OK, I have Premiere Pro CS 5.5 installed and when I export or just render timeline with GPU accelerated switched on the PC crashes after a few mins?

I am running Windows 7, Quad, i7. 64bit.

I am rendering HDV 1440x1080i from timeline. If I turn off GPU acceleration then all works fine?

However, If I decide to render/export it to normal SD then it all works fine with or without GPU acceleration?

I have tried many drivers both old and new but it still persists!!

Any help would be great

Thanks

thanks for your help!

Offline editing in Premiere CS6

Hi!

I'm thinking about to edit a feature film in Premiere putting together all the episodes of my webserie. It's an action webserie and has a lot of cuts. It is in H.264 from 7d so is very difficult to play in real time.

Are there any way to make proxies of the sequence for a more fluid edit and reconnect later with the original files (as you can do in Avid or FCPX)?

Scratch disk media editing vs. internal

Hello

My current setup is Win8 Pro, i7-990x Extreme, 24Gb kit, and a Quadro2K.  I've been editing Full HD nicely in realtime for the last two years.  I have a single bootup SSD drive for the OS and programs, and two 2TB drives - one mirrors the other.  I had to go this route because my initial 2TB RAID 0 Glyph had died and since then I've been skeptic of that protocol regardless of the fact that's how we were rigged in film school.  I do know however know that my old RAID Glyph setup loaded video (thumbnails) significantly faster than now.  I have gone through numerous ways to RAID my motherboard but without success.

So I was curious of any other hard drive configurations that significantly improve editing time and perhaps rendering.  Should I forget about my rig containing big TB drives and simply downgrade in capacity to two more SSD's like the following:

Boot Drive 1 60 SSD - Win8 Pro

Drive 2 - 240GB SSD media

Drive 3 - 240GB SSD media

Drive 4 - 2 TB backup

Also are there any benefits in working in a multiple SSD setup if I plan to edit some files that are on (let's say) Drive 2 while Premiere Pro is running on boot from Drive 1?  Or would it be better to have one bigger SSD like Crucial's M500 that's running the OS and working on media files from one SSD architecture?  Retrieving files from another SSD internally is also a scratch protocol is it not?

I created a project with Premiere Pro and burnt it to DVD and Duel DVD using Encore and it is shaky. It was perfect to watch on playback with Pro so the problem must be with Encore. Have a missed  a setting. Im new to Pro but have been using elements for around 3 years.

Until I got CC Pro I have never used Encore before so watched and followed on Adobe TV to create this disc.

I shot tape and digital at 1080p 30.  When I bring it into premiere pro I choose HDV 1080p 30 for the sequence.  It convets it to 720X480 16:9.  Why is that and how can I chnge it to see 1080p?
