Video timecode out of sync after upgrade from PP CS3 to PP CC

Hello!  I am hoping someone can throw me a hail mary here, as I'm trying to wrap up a DVD project in the next few days in order to make a deadline for disc duplication by Tuesday to have done before I drive down to Texas on Thursday with hopefully 200 copies of a DVD that I already have glossy disc labels printed on the discs with no content to burn.

I would consider myself an amateur, but successfully put together a 73-minute-long Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 project back in 2007 with three camera angles and soundboard audio.  Back then, I was working on the DVD menus in Encore CS3, but never finished due to numerous issues over the years.  So now I need to wrap up this project, because the band I videotaped is back together once again, and they want to do something with it.  Their first show is on June 29th.

After updating the titles to no longer reflect MySpace pages and outdated information, when I tried to export to Encore CS3, it kept exporting to about 8 of 9 hours and then Premiere Pro would just shut down without explanation.  I wasted a few days trying to get this to work, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

So since I just built a new computer with all of the coolest stuff on it and Windows 7 64-bit, Intel i7 quad core processors, I decided to take the plunge into the Adobe Creative Cloud, even though I have no idea if this issue with PP closing for no explainable reason would be remedied by the upgrade.  I downloaded Premiere Pro CC and Encore CS6 and opened the project file that I had on CS3.  I had originally used the Smudger LET font for all titles, which was no longer listed, so my titles were all messed up.  Not a big deal.

What is the big deal is that my audio and video files are all out of sync!  I thought it could be fixed by shifting the video files to be in sync with the audio, but that didn't quite do the trick.  I'm getting horizontal lines at the beginning of the clips that appear to be a shift in start times of the videos in general.  Even if I cut out the horizonal line parts and move the video to be in sync with the audio, the edits are all shifted and come at the wrong times.  I don't even know how to properly explain this, but I hope someone out there understands what is happening.and can tell me how to get things back in sync.

Here's a screenshot:

Capture.png

How can I tell Premiere Pro CC that I want to maintain the edits exactly where they are, but adjust the timecode to begin at 00;00;00;00 instead of 00;01;41;15, where the horizonatal lines finally disappear?  I already have over 200 hours invested in this project that I don't want to redo, especially since I'm doing this not expecting to be paid for my efforts.  I'm just a fan of a band and want to share this with other fans of the band.  Essentially, I'm donating the DVD and CD of the show to the band to help them raise money to cover the production costs of a new album.  Also, the red lines are the Neat Video v3.4 Pro plugin not yet rendered/previewed.

Thank you in advance!

Matt

Subclips inconsistent behavior; not always working correctly in Premiere Pro CC

I load a clip into the Source panel.  I set in and out points and then CTRL + U to create a subclip.  I have "Restrict Trim to subclip boundaries" turned off.  (Thank you Adobe, I've been waiting for "soft" subclips forEVER!)  The new subclip appears in my Project panel with the correct name and duration (as well as a white audio icon to indicate that it has not yet been used in my project).  Now, I drag that subclip into my sequence.  But the entire clip (a 5 minute interview), from which the subclip was derived, is loaded onto the timeline.

This has been working correctly for the last hour, and now it has stopped working.  It appears that for the moment, subclipping is dead to me.

Can I import FCE projects into Adobe Premier Pro?

$

Over the past 5 years I've accumulated several TB of underwater video footage as Quicktime Movie clips on Mac-formatted external hard drives.  These are media files for my Final Cut Express 3.5 projects, organized by ocean locale and further sorted as to creature ID and other info, using the Log Note field.  I've cut some videos from what I've shot and would like to continue to do so.

The newer Apple video editing programs will not import Final Cut Express projects.  I have heard that Adobe Premiere Pro will import them.  All I want to do is access the media files by way of the sorted, organized project file folders that reference them.  If I can't do that, I will be almost all the way back to the original video tapes if/when my Mac fails, which it is already showing signs of doing.  If Adobe can allow me to maintain access to my underwater archive, I would be happy to kiss FCE and Apple goodbye.

I have a year-old HP Pavilion with a 750GB hard drive that should be adequate to get started with Adobe Pro.  Can my FCE project files be rescued?

Would appreciate solid information on this.  Thanks, Sharron S.

Working with naming redundancy of MTS files

$

I am new to working with MTS files in prelude and eventually Premiere and have a few questions about the proper workflow.  I would be very grateful for any wisdom.

first off background on the project:

- We have .mts files from several different consumer Vixia cameras

- The cameras used the same naming convention for each card.  (starting with 000.mts working its way up).  These means we have several different .mts files, with the same name.

- The file structures were copied over directly from the cards, and therefore unchanged.  However, I still can't work with the metadata for some of the clips... and therefore suspect i need to transcode some of them.

My Questions:

1.  Is it a problem that there is a redundancy in the naming of the .mts files, and that i will have several clips in the project with the same name?  All the clips are organized into a folder structure based on date and roll, so i'm not worried about the name redundancy when i'm actually editing.  I am worried that if the media gets disconnected Adobe won't know which clip to look for, and may try to reconnect the wrong clip with the same name.  Does Adobe reconnect based only of file name, or does it also look at the path?

I'm scared if i change the file name, it will be hard to make sure the file name is changed across the folder structure, and therefore the native structure could be corrupted.

What is a best practice workflow for working with .mts files with the same name in adobe?

2.  Alot of the footage is shot by non-professionals, who didn't know to break up clips.  Therefore, we have a lot  of "spanned" .mts files.  is there any solution to spanned files?  I've read in a previous forum that there is not, and that the only way to avoid the issue is to transcode.  Is that information still true?

3. If i do have to transcode, what is the recommended codec?  I usually go with prores 4444, but that codec's file size is way too big for the amount of footage we have to go through.  Any suggestions?

I would be so grateful if anyone can help on these questions!!

How do I export from Premiere pro CC directly to Encore like CS6 would do with a dynamic link?

How do I export from Premiere Pro CC directly to Encore CS6 without going through After Effects or Media Encoder (like Dynamic Link used to do in CS6)?

Premiere CS5.5 export format Quicktime only has DV presets

$

I have scoured the forums, Google, Bing, everything for an answer to this problem I am having.

I'll get right down to it.  Quicktime is chosen as the format in the Export window.  The only presets available are:

NTSC DV

NTSC DV Widescreen

NTSC DV Widescreen 24p

NTSC DV 24p

PAL DV Widescreen

PAL DV

I've found pictures online of other peoples Quicktime presets, and it seems I'm missing all of the H.264 ones.

I'm working on a PC with HDV material only.  All updates have been installed.  I have also installed the Avid 2.3.7 codecs, which I believe have to work inside this Quicktime container, but they won't look too good when they're DV...  The Avid codecs are showing up correctly under Video Codec drop down.  I have installed nothing other than Production Premium CS 5.5, Quicktime, and the Avid codecs.

Please, please help!

I have a creative cloud membership for Premiere Pro, however it keeps prompting me to start a trial or enter a serial number. 3 audio tracks not exporting

PPro CC.  1st 3 channels are exporting fine. The next 3 have been tweaked in Audition (but then so has the track on channel 2),

The names of the tracks are quite long: eg Star Gazer_84BPM_10FULLSONG_624_01 Audio Extracted Audio Extracted.wav  They're not offline. They're not muted.

They dont have any effects or transitions on them.

I've got six tracks in total.

I just tried moving one of them to A1 and it did export. Doh. Why would A4,5,6 not export?

I have HD Footage from my Canon HV30 camcorder and when I open a project and edit the video in CS4 there is no color Ghosting, but when I open a project with the same source files and project settings in CS6 I get a nasty color ghosting. Has anyone seen or experience this issue before?   I have included and example of the same frame in each of the programs.

Help!!

I created a new project and imported some .mts videos.  I dragged on onto the Timeline and it placed the audio portion on Audio 4 track.  I pulled another Video .mts file onto the Timeline and it also placed the audio portion on Audio 4 track.  Is this a bug or is there some setting that is causing this?

Premiere-CC Poor Quality Logos on export with Hardware Acceleration.

$

This is an old and new issue.

Have an XDCam-HD preset Sequence.  XDcam footage is green screen, layer below is a white background.  Layer above keyed footage is an imported PSD with 2 logos on same layer with transparancy.

Sequence settings:  MRQ and MRB are checked, and composite in linear color is unchecked.

Playback resolution and Paused resolution both set to full.

Using Cuda acceleration in project settings, and all hardware accelerated FX, program plays back perfectly and looks excellent.

Problem:  While Cuda acceleration is enabled, when the playhead is paused, or stopped, logos look terrible.  The alpha looks like it has noise in it.  However, when you hit play, everything looks good.

Supers created in the Titler are not affected and look fine.

If you render the seqence for preview, logos render with terrible result, as if paused.  Also, on export you get the same bad looking logos.

If you disable hardware acceleration, all is well.

Any thoughts?

2.5K in Premiere CC

Just downloaded Premiere CC to try it out on a current project and found an issue right off the bat. We routinely create time-lapse videos from still files at higher than 1920x1080 resolution so we can pan and scan in the timeline and not lose quality. Generally we use 2880x1620 exported as a .mov file and then re-import into Premiere. In CC, Premiere sees it as a 1920x1080 file and it appears as such in the timeline. If I resize it in CC, is it actually using the 2880x1620 dimensions or is it scaling to frame size?

Audio transcription: how to make it work?

$

Hello dear Premiere users,

I am evaluating Premiere Pro for its audio transcription feature, and I can't make it work.

I use Windows 7 64 bits.

My knowledge of Premiere Pro is limited so I might be missing a step.

Here is what I do: (Since I am using a French version of Premiere Pro, some interface 'terms' may be actually different in the English version of Premiere Pro).

• I create a Premiere project

• In the media Explorer tab, I open a video file (720p mp4 from Youtube), of an audio file (mp3 for an Internet podcast).

• I select the Metadata tab and I press the Analyze button > I select Audio, and Quality: High

Adobe Media Encoder is lauched and works for some seconds or minutes (depending on the length of my file)

It creates 3 files in C:\Users\Xxx\AppData\Local\Temp : a .cit file, an .xml file and a .txt file.

The .txt file contains English words so something is going right.

But no text appears in Premiere Pro, in the Metadata tab.

What step am I missing?

Thank you in advance,

Roger soimosan
