Audio Information Gone When Importing into Sequence

Hi,

When I drag one specific clip from the source into my project sequence the audio information seems to disappear. All other clips are importing audio fine.

I can hear the audio and see the infographic information when i play the clip in the source monitor but when i drag it into the sequence there is no audio information anymore.

I've tried rendering the clip and taking into the sequence in different ways. I've tried taking the audio only and still the same result.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Why do I have to import an AE comp twice in to PP?

Every time I attempt to import an After Effects comp into Premiere Pro, I have to make 2 attempts.

Process:

     File>Import

     Find the AE project file

Find the comp within the AE project file

     Highlight (or double-click, doesn't matter)

     Click - "OK"

First time it just sits there. Same import screen, like something is very wrong.

Then I have to dig into the AE project file, find the comp I want again, Highlight it  and click OK.

This has been going on for a couple months.  I have done some internet searches.  Not sure what keywords might get this to be answered.  All to no avail.

Is anyone having this issue?  Is this a dynamic link thing?

Would love if Adobe would weigh in on this one.

Oh, and previously, no issues importing.

Thanks

So is this whole multiple SSD drive setup Urban Myth or Fact?

Just building a new pc...and all over the Internet I keep reading and hearing about having multiple SSD's for OS, Scratch disks, Media and Project files etc. etc.

But I'm curious has anyone ever actually tested this? Or is this just what everyone keeps telling everyone else?

ie. I wonder if purchasing one high quality SSD and then a large Media Regular HDD...would effectively do just as well as these multi SSD setups?

Has anyone here actually compared the performance? Thanks for any shared experiences...either primary or secondary sources.

Thank you.

Premiere re-linking old versions when re-opening project.

Hi!

I have an issue with re-linking in Premiere 12.1.1 (build 10).

I have a lot of graphics overlaid on top of my video (which were created and exported from After Effects).

Whenever edits are made to the graphics, new versions are saved out from After Effects and then used to replace the clips in Premiere incrementally (so "graphic_v002" replaces "graphic_v001" and so on). For some reason, if I make a save in Premiere and close the project, when I come back to it the next day all my After Effects graphics are re-linking to old versions and not remembering to link to the new paths so I then have to go through manually setting all those clips to "offline" and then re-linking them again.

It's as if the project doesn't get updated with the file names and paths of the new replacement files so it defaults back to the old paths.

If I go to re-link it, it displays the correct file name for the media I am re-linking in the "clip name" field, but in the "file name" field it displays the old file name.

For example:

Any help would be massively appreciated as I'm on a super tight deadline and time is a slim commodity.

Thanks.

Premiere won't even open the options for exporting. Please help?

Since my last problem, I've finished several videos with just weird font errors, but now it won't even open the options box for exporting. I finished editing > File > Export. I clicked Export, and nothing happens. Usually the box opens that gives me all my options for export, but it doesn't even show up. I've tried closing and opening the program several times, tried the hotkey for export, and I've tried to find another way to export the video. Nothing works...

For some reason Premier is being REALLY buggy lately. Which is weird, because I never had a problem before last month or so.

The latest I can be done with this video is tomorrow. I really need help.

Standard Size of Clips in a Compilation

I'm importing clips that show up as different sizes in the timeline. I can "Scale to Frame Size" still images but this doesn't work with video clips. There must be an easy way to make the clips a standard size, i.e. fill the screen without distorting them. Thanks for any advice.

Premiere won't read renamed files from Zoom H4N recorder?

$

I've searched around and can't seem to find a solution to why this might be happening. Basically, every time I rename raw audio files, Premiere will treat the file as if there is no sound (track displays a flat line instead of a waveform). I've resorted to just not renaming audio files at all to be safe, but this is becoming a media management nightmare and I would really just like to rename my audio files so it's clear what shoot they belong to based on the individual file name, not just the folder hierarchy.

Here's what I have been doing that works vs. what I would like to do, but does not work.

The process that works:

  1. Copy .wav files SD Card (recorded with a Zoom H4N) to a folder on an external hard drive
  2. From finder, drag the unnamed, original, raw audio files into premiere Project pane
  3. Drag audio from project pane into a sequence
  4. Works fine! The audio track displays a waveform and plays as expected.

The process that DOES NOT work:

  1. Copy .wav files from SD Card (recorded with a Zoom H4N) to a folder on an external hard drive
  2. Rename audio files in Finder (just manually updating he file name, not the file type.)
    • i.e.: [080107.wav] will become [ShootA_2018_080107.wav]
  3. From finder, drag audio files into premiere Project pane
  4. Drag audio from project pane into a sequence
  5. The audio track displays a flatline and audio does not play.

To clarify -- I am not trying to relink renamed audio. I'm literally just importing renamed audio into premiere and it will not register sound. Is there something wrong with my process, or is this a problem with premiere? Renaming audio files seem critical for file management, so it would surprise me if Premiere could not handle this. This process works fine when I rename video clips...why not audio?

Any help very much appreciated. Thanks!

Proxies not working on latest premiere pro update

Hi guys.

After I updated to latest premiere pro the proxy workflow stopped working. Even though the change to proxy button in program monitor  is enabled it don't work. All my proxies are collected in a proxy folder. When i press change to proxy button in program monitor it only change to proxy in source monitor. Is this a common bug for latest premiere pro update? Have you experienced something similar. Any idea how to solve this would be much appreciated.

Missing Fonts and Slow Team Project Opening after 12.1 Update

$

I updated from 12.0.1 to 12.1 today, wanted to make sure XML importing was fixed.  But encountered some other odd issues first:

1) Opening a Team Project last saved with 12.0.1 resulted in a 4-5 minute wait before it would open.  It has about 1000 project items to load, but this would previously take <30 seconds.  Usually more like 15 seconds.  This is very odd, but perhaps there's some sort of conversion from 12.0.1 happening in the background.

2) Upon opening, there's a message that says "Invalid Font Family: DIN, replaced with Courier New."  Theses fonts were used in a Legacy Title in the project (and many other projects), and when I checked to see if they were still installed, the Mac Font Book correctly shows them.  However, in Premiere's Legacy Titler, the DIN font family (sub-variations for Regular, Medium, Light, Bold) is missing.  There are two other top level font family options that are new, though - DIN Condensed, DIN Alternate.  DIN Alternate looked the most similar to the previous fonts, but there were no variations for Bold, Medium, Light, Regular - it was just DIN Alternate.  DIN Condensed was not the right font.

I poked around in Finder and found that the correct DIN fonts were not showing an extension in the Finder level, they were simply DINLig, DINReg, DINMed, etc.  No .ttf or .otf extensions.  They were in my User/Library/Fonts folder next to other installed fonts that were showing file type extensions.  The DIN Alternate and DIN Condensed were in the root/Library/Fonts folder.  I don't remember seeing those other options before, so my guess is the new updated added them?  Or substituted them with TypeKit versions?

I tried uninstalling the extensionless DIN fonts and adding .ttf and .otf extensions to the files, then reinstalling.  However this only made things worse and Font Book refused to install them saying there was something wrong with the file.  Once I removed the extensions, they installed just fine.  *shrug*

The odd thing is the extensionless DIN fonts worked just fine in Premiere 2017, 2018 (12.0) and 2018 (12.0.1), but this new update has really messed them up.

Any ideas?  I'll have to revert to 12.0.1 if I can't figure out the fonts pretty quickly.

Thanks!

Anyone Else Getting No Audio Playback After Opening A Project?

$

For the past week or so, I've had a strange issue where sometimes when I open a project and try to play the timeline, there's no audio. It happens for every sequence in the project. It's not that the audio is playing and I'm just not hearing it, the audio levels don't even move. It's as if all audio has been muted. The only thing that brings it back is to solo one of the audio tracks and then unsolo it. After that everything starts working again.

Premiere Pro CC - Playback unusable

$

Hey there,

I'm using the latest Premiere Pro CC on the latest MacBook Pro:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)

2,8 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Cutting from an external SSD which writes and reads at about 480MB/s.

I'm editing 4K Footage from a Sony A7III. When I just did my selects playback was ok but it got super laggy and unusable when I started to cut scenes together.
First it takes seconds to start and after 1-2 seconds there are a lot of lags and then the image gets refreshed every 2 seconds or less.

Any help? Shouldn't this work without proxies?

Gamma Shift on iMac but not Macbook

Hey everyone, spent a few hours tonight searching on this topic.

Can anyone provide some quick solutions/ideas on why the gamma shift occurs on exported videos on my iMac but not macbook? Both are 2015 models running newest version of CC.

At first I thought it was the QT player that was the problem, but then I noticed the footage changes color when I import into premiere, it's more saturated and vivid. On my macbook it stays the same though (I shouldalso note that importing the footage into iMovie on iMac it stays the same). This makes me think it's an option that needs to be changed in premiere, especially since premiere on my laptop handles it just fine. It's so frustrating that exporting works perfect on one machine but not the other!

Again I know there's a number of threads out there but most seem to fizzle out - I'm continuously searching the internet. Would love some help here as editing video on a laptop isn't ideal.

"This effect requires gpu acceleration"

Hi, i read a lot about this issue, but still looking for a solution if possible.

I have the Premiere Pro CC 2018 v12.0 on win 10 - NVIDIA GTX 980M.

Now when i scroll through the timeline after adding the "VR Chroma leaks" effect it looks fine - but when i export or render it - i get this error message "This effect requires gpu acceleration" on the video.

I tried turning CUDA off and choosing only memory, i've updated Nvidia drivers. I don't want to reinstall my whole computer just for this effect.

Is there any other solution?

Thank you.
